I hesitated to write a review and do want to say that I called the manager upon returning home (a week ago) to alert him that I had what was almost definitely bed bug bites (confirmed by doctor and my husband and I are both in health-care). I wanted to give him the chance to do the right thing and not only take care of it but offer me something back which he did not. We have stayed there many times in the past when my step-children went to college nearby and now my son is at Clarkson. We always loved the location and for years have overlooked the datedness of it. I spoke with manager who I'm sure will rebut my review (as I've seen him do with countless others), and he expressed concern but offered nothing. He called a week later to check on me after receiving an angry call from my daughter and stated that he had an exterminator in and they found nothing. He was complaining about what it cost him to bring them in. I argued that it has cost me $450 and I came home with awful bites over my body. I reiterated that I am 100% positive that the bites came from the room and that I sought medical attention after being home a week and having the reaction get worse. I also stated that we didn't notice the bumps until the night we returned home which is common with bed bugs. I also mentioned that we were originally overlooking the other problems (light fixture literally hanging off the wall and the inside of kitchen cabinets were horrific/dirty). Once I realized what had happened when returning home, the whole stay felt nighmare-ish. I've attached a few pics of the bites and wish I had taken pics inside the room. I had recommended this place to so many people but will no longer. It's a shame they don't listen to their customers. As stated - I'm sure this will receive a defensive reply but I felt compelled to speak out. Upon returning home - I have had no new bites and my husband and son had no symptoms (we all slept in different beds at...

Great location and very big property that very poorly managed!|Despite the good potential, it fails at every level.|Out of half empty hotel, despite the request for a water view, we were offered a room with one window overlooking the parking lot. Not very welcoming.|The restaurant on the property has very limited choices of sandwiches and burgers. The resort is located just on the outskirts of town for a perfect getaway. The property is large and has a variety of buildings that offer opportunity for both privacy and community. In the main building that has the office, there is a beautiful wood dining space. The breakfast included fresh baked french toast, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, danishes, yogurt, just to name a few. There are many gazebos, rocking benches, a dock for boating access. I wish I could spend more time here. While staying there, I learned of the rich history of the town of Ogdensburg and the St. Lawrence River. The French and Indian War, a 7 year World War, took place in the area of Ogdensburg. I encourage you to explore the historical sites of the town! The room I booked was the deluxe king, which is shown in the photos I provided. It was large, had 2 TVs, many windows that open. It also provided a chair for outside sitting. They went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. Thank you Stonefence staff for everything!

I stayed here on a recent trip to visit friends in Canada. On the outskirts of Ogdensburg right off 37, the bridge to Canada is just a few minutes down the road. I stayed in building 5 right on the water and was only there in the morning and evening, but location and view of the river made every minute very enjoyable. They have plenty of different areas to sit riverside including a pavillion out over the water. Morning coffee sitting over the water watching the ducks float by and the boats on the water was so relaxing. The room was clean, had a little sitting area, kitchen sink, microwave, and a good size fridge. It was quiet, I slept comfortably, but a highlight for me was a Keurig in the room and supplied pods. Staff was very friendly, housekeeping was friendly, helpful & non invasive. I'm looking forward to visiting again!
