We stayed at Cheerful Valley for a month. We wanted to be in the Finger Lakes region. I read the other reviews and I can see why people rate it so high. It is truly a weekend campground, people roll in Friday, set up, start drinking and leave Sunday. Here are my reasons for the 3 star rating. 1. The roads are horrible, they try to fill them in with gravel but it washes out during the rain, you can tell the roads were paved once, probably when it was built. 2. The bathroom/shower house is old, outdated, and broken. It needs to be rebuilt. 3. The electric is old and outdated, two of my neighbors lost power and had to track down someone from the park to flip the breaker because there are none on the power stand, unacceptable! 4. The price they charge is not worth what you get. The staff really does try to keep the campground clean, they are always mowing and keeping the park nice looking to best of their abilities. I don't think they get much help from the owner to upgrade the park. I'm sure it is just an ATM to him. This could be a 5 star park with some updating.

I’ve been here for two weeks during a busy holiday weekend Fourth of July I’m very picky and straight to the point. My overall experience Was Great my only real complaint is the bathrooms. They were extremely clean and sanitized, but the showers themselves are outdated and very difficult to use after a little figure things out we may do with what we have. I will definitely be back for another camping trip. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 The staff for the most part, we’re good one staff you can tell was overwhelmed with workload and was kind of blow off Ish, but I understand it was a busy weekend and they have a lot to do

We stayed at Cheerful Valley Campground while traveling to Niagara Falls and Loved our stay. We have been too many campgrounds and loved how spread out things are at Cheeful Valley. There was plenty of green grass for the kids to run around and play. The river that runs through there is gorgeous, and the kids also loved the Pool and all the toys. The staff was very friendly and even warned us of an upcoming storm. We will definitely show this campground in our episode on Niagara Falls.

We were here with two other campers.|| Once you turn onto the road of the campground... buckle up!! You are greeted by the dumpsters (they were full when we arrived, overflowing). The dump (only 1) is right right there as well).|| (Keep in mind you arrive above the campground, you have to drive DOWN into it and UP out of It), || The roadway into (and out of ) the campground is AWFUL!|| There is no other way to describe the amount of pot holes, the deepness of those pothole and the BRUTAL journey you will have to your site. You can not maneuver around to miss any of them (that is how many there are everywhere). You can not just 'take a walk' in this campground because there are so many potholes everywhere:(|| The sites are huge! plenty of space between, side to side (not as much on your back in side). Too much in fact, because you share a post for electric and water with another site (not really an issue except it forces you to be very close to the site that shares the post and very far from the one that does not, when in fact you all could have a lot of space all around if you had your own service post).| We arrived on July 1 (Technically July 4th weekend?). It was very packed (b/c it was the weekend or b/c it was 4th of July? not sure). BUT: The nice, very clear rules posted on the website (one car per site, quiet hours start at 10:00 PM, Park camper in the designated area... etc) DO NOT SEEM TO APPLY :(| Because the sites are so big, campers were parked in any direction, forming literal communities (think horseshoe set ups) I camp often, everywhere, BUT this was a bit much! Three campers, 5-8 cars to an area, Tents plopped on sites with seemingly no rule that they could not be there (which is why there may have been so many cars)! Karaoke ALL DAY LONG from one site! WHEW! it was a kin to open mic night!| The 10:00 PM quiet hours are not enforced. Any night!|| The days leading up to our arrival to Cheerful Valley, were full of rain! When we arrived that afternoon it was not, but the river that is along the edge was full and flowing quickly! There were several tents set up on the river side of the campground, nearer to us. Seemed to be great sites! Until the river overflowed over night, waking them up in the middle of the night to a huge flood :( This seems like a one time occurrences right? Oh no! The seasonal folks and people that are there often stated that 'this happens every time!" Well them why put them there during a rain soaked week???? They were literally flooded out:(| It took two days for that water to recede.|| We did not have full hook up, so I chose to use the shower facility. Whoa! Antiquated is polite! Showers that have curtains (not private areas that you can lock yourself in etc), heat lamps for lights (on a timer), and showers that are not cleaned daily are what you can expect. || The campground has the potential to be a great place to stop (swimming pool, DJ events, wine slushie events Fourth of July Golf Cart parade!), but getting into the site (pot holes that will ruin your pull vehicle and/or camper),| the set up of allowing people to set up any way and any where, the lack of rule enforcement, makes this place a bit chaotic to say the least.| We will not stay here again (they really need to fix the road way in and...

This is all "My Opinion Only." First let me say that the staff are very friendly...right up to the point you have a complaint. Then they get really nasty. They almost get as nasty as the mosquitos. These bugs here are so bad, that at night when you turn on any light, it's covered with bugs so bad that they're flying up your nose and into your mouth. You can't stay outside about thirty minutes after sunset. After that, you're confined to seek shelter. Then there's the bathrooms and showers. I can only speak for the men's area. But the cleaning staff comes out of the bathroom/showers after cleaning and there's still crap on the seats, mud on the floors, spiderwebs and bugs all over the place, broken plastic bottles of soap dispensers on the warped Formica countertops and the towel dispenser is broken off the wall. There's no place to sit down in or near the shower as the seats are either broken or missing. No place to put your soap/shampoo or hang your towel. There was mud and grass in the showers. And that's just the bathroom/showers. Then we have the septic smells, probably from people dripping their dark tank or sewage backup. Then we had the power problems. We isolated the problem to the power poll. It was their bad breaker that kept tripping. They reset the breaker, but it kept tripping during the night. Either a weak breaker or in need of modernization to meet the needs of newer campers/equipment. And then there's the water. The water smells and tastes so bad it's like bilge water with the toilet paper taken out. I thought it was just from the rubber hoses. So we flushed the pipes again. Still there. Then I went to the source at the spigot and it was coming like that right out of the spigot. It made us wince when we took a whiff. It wasn't a chlorine smell. It just.... Stunk. We thought that making coffee with it would maybe cover the taste up. Nope. It was bad. Really bad. My brother had to Run to the bathroom many times until we went and bought bottled water for drinking and coffee. When water that's coming straight out of the pipe leaves a Film on your dishes, ...just saying. The water, the electric, the bugs, the bathroom toilets, the showers...etc. If I were a Health Inspector, I would shut this place down. No Joke. Everything looks nice in their photos and when you're driving in, things look quite serine. So nice. Then, you get a closer look and smell and you're asking yourself why you came here and what you're actually getting that you can Use during your stay. You're hooked up to the water & power. Both are useless. Showers/bathrooms - disgusting. You're Not getting what you're paying for here. At $284/week they can do Much Much better than this. But the lawn was well maintained. We camped at Cheerful Valley Campground in a...
