We loved hearing the sound of the waves of Michigan lull us to sleep in our 2nd floor room at the Waters Edge. The private balcony (for 2nd floor rooms) and large porch (outside first floor rooms) made it easy to roll out of bed and watch the sun rise and take great photos. The lovely backyard with hammock and steps down to the deserted beach made it a quiet oasis. (think small stones, not sand, for beach). (And the waves were less noticeable the second night, when the winds die down and so I can’t promise everyone will hear waves loudly from room every night). But being so close to the lake made this a place we’d like to return to. ||I enjoyed our strongly-themed room (Northwoods) with its many references to bears and moose. It was a little near the smoking part of the porch so Next time we may try the Tropical or splurge on the honeymoon with its jacuzzi. The web site photos do a good job of showing the rooms, which are over the top in decorations, but in a way that has charm. ||The B&B was completely full of vacationing couples and but still quiet (other than during breakfast). Others used it as a very affordable base for traveling up to Door County but we enjoyed the peace and quiet of Algoma. We...
Read moreWhat a delightful experience! The place doesn't look like much from the road, but it's all about the lake and the view! There are 7 rooms, a wrap-around deck with chairs and small tables, and you can sit in your room or on the deck and hear the lap of the water as you gaze across the lake toward the horizon. We watched the sun rise from the edge of our bed one morning, and then enjoyed the geese, ducks, and other small wildlife as they emerged. We stayed in the Hollywood Room, decorated with photos of Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, Don Knotts and others. Breakfast is at 8, but coffee is available by 6:30. The non-contact self check-in is a breeze. You walk in, see your key and instructions on the table, and just go to your room. Bathrooms are small, and the tub/shower is activated by pulling on the nose of the faucet after you turn on the water. And we found a great French restaurant called Three Eleven just a 5 minute drive away with some of the best food we've had in ages. We'll...
Read moreWe always wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast, but never found the perfect one in our travels, we also wanted to see the fall colors in Door County and never had. Then we came along the prefect bed and breakfast at the gateway to Door County and it made for the PERFECT FALL GETAWAY. This could not have been a better place to stay for our fall getaway. The sun rise over Lake Michigan was beautiful!!! We left our windows open at night to the relaxing sound of the waves crashing, it made for great sleep. The food was delicious and the hospitality second to none. One perk to us was it is an adults only location so that made it even more relaxing to us. There is also a fire pit next to lake to enjoy. We will 100% be returning here for...
