This is a pretty campground with well-maintained grounds and friendly seasonal folks. We wanted to like it, but we did not.
The good points: The sites are wooded and shaded, and there’s a good amount of room between sites. There’s a fishing pond that’s stocked, a jumping pad for the kids and a swimming pond with a small beach.
What we didn’t like: No sewer hookup. The bathrooms are AWFUL. You have to pay for showers. You have to pay for WIFI. This might bother people who have young families: the quiet time rules are not observed or enforced.
We knew about the lack of sewer hookups when we booked the site. Although we have a small travel trailer and a small tank, we’ve been to campgrounds which have no sewer hookup before, and we’ve done fine. But, the bathrooms and showers here were terrible. They’re extremely small and barely serviceable. There are only TWO showers for the whole campground. The toilets don’t flush well. One toilet was plugged up the morning I tried to use it. In the showers, there was always a lot of water outside the shower stall. When getting dressed, whatever clothes you were stepping into got wet, it was GROSS!! In both the bathrooms and the showers there are motion activated lights, but here’s what happened to me.
After my shower, as I was getting dressed, the lights suddenly clicked off. It was pitch black. I could not even see my hand in front of my face. I felt for the door, found the lock and opened the door to get some light even though I was half dressed. The motion activated light still did not go on, so I got dressed with the door propped open with one arm, while I finished dressing with the other. It would have been much worse had I still been in the shower. The next day I realized what happened. As mentioned, the showers are tiny. There are two small shelves on the wall by the shower stall. Where do you put your stuff? On the shelves of course – there’s no other place to put anything. Where did they mount the motion activated light? Right at the shelf, so that when you put anything on the shelf, no matter how small, it blocks the motion sensor and, after awhile, the light turns off. What a ridiculous place to put the motion sensor!! It could easily have been placed on the opposite wall. That’s a safety issue folks!
There are no laundry facilities. You have to pay for WIFI. And oh yeah, when I booked the site, I asked if I could have an Amazon package delivered in my name care of the Campground, since we were staying several days. We’ve done this many times before at campgrounds across the country. Guess What? Nope, sorry, we don’t allow mail deliveries to campers. On the Saturday night we were there, a neighboring group of campers had a gathering from multiple sites (I think it was one big family) and they played very loud music until 11:30.
We talked to a few seasonal people - they said they are self-contained and get pumped out once or twice a season, so they don’t deal with the campground’s bathrooms. Bottom line: there are seasonal people who like this place, but if you’re not completely self-contained, you won’t like...
Read moreThis is not a horrible campground. We went here on a Friday/Saturday night for my daughter's birthday weekend. Because the campsite wasn't very far from our home and we had an obligation on Friday evening, we dropped the camper off on Friday afternoon. A gentlemen checked us in. He asked if we were going to have other guests and more than the one vehicle, we said yes that we were having a birthday party. He advised there was a cost. We asked that he please charge our guests to our campsite. He agreed that this would not be a problem and asked that no one park on the grass. If extra space was needed, he indicated to a parking area near check in. Much later that night (around 1030pm) I arrive at the campground with my children. We already checked in earlier in the day so we did not stop at the gate. When I got out of the car, there was an individual talking to my children. I thought she was another camper that happened to walk by, and that she was just making small talk. As soon as I exited my vehicle, She started quizzing me about the number of people at the site and telling me that I needed to pay 5 extra dollars for each person over the allowed 6 guests. I was quite taken aback but asked if we could deal with this in the daylight, to which she agreed. Fast forward to Saturday. Family present, my daughter is opening gifts. There are 2 extra vehicles parked at the site but on the gravel. Here they come in the golf cart. The women gets off the cart and approaches. She is clearly angry. She advises that we can only have 2 vehicles at the site and we need to move the extra vehicles. I was feeling confused and my guests were quite upset. I asked her why they had to pay to park if the can't even park at the site. She was so angry. I literally just asked a question. She said it's in the rule book! I guess my bad. I have never been at such a high stress campground. I didn't review the rule book cause I thought we had already been over this at check in. After encouragement from the gentleman to drop it and walk away, she left with him. The vehicles were moved. The rest of our stay, they stayed away from our site. When we left, she approached my vehicle and made an effort to make things right. I explained to her that I just wanted clarification. The grounds have very few amenities and on arrival, this wasn't clear. I also told her that we have been to a lot of campgrounds and have never been treated in this manner. That we would never be back. She seemed surprised that we had never encountered this before and instead of trying to make it right, recommended that we stick to the places that we know. She did not seem concerned about the fact that we wouldn't be back. We don't go places to create problems. We aren't trouble makers. While I think they nickle and dime people a bit too much, I don't mind paying for people to visit. She acted like we intentionally disrespected her. She treated us...
Read moreExpensive. On top of site - pump out was supposed to be $15.00 per Chris. But it actually was $25.00. No internet service, unless you pay for it. The office is always empty. We had guest, $5 per head and $5 per car, which was no big deal, however they acted as if our guest might steal electric because they were in an electric car. They drove golf cart around a few times past us to see.
The little girl that waited on me thought I wasn’t very smart. She wanted to play a game before I could get in to pay for pump out. She wanted me to pretend she wasn’t there and wanted me to tell her what I would do. (I am 70 yrs old). To her surprise, I answered correctly. Then she unlocked the door and we went in. She said I won…..(ha ha)
Then she proceeded to tell me all the other rules, asked me if I’d been there before. I said yes - last year - then she wanted to know why I didn’t remember the rules….(really?). I explained I had been to many campgrounds since then. (Duh).
They shove the rules at you like you are already guilty - bad attitude! We won’t be back. As for the little girl- as they say in the south “Isn’t she sweet “ NancyS
You need to get out more often. Most campgrounds have campsites with pump-out. You obviously don’t like doing it, but you have no choice. We have already found a better place. When leaving your facility, it was like a cloud lifted off of us. The negativity that you and the little girl throw at customers is uncaring, un trusting and disrespectful. No pump-outs, no wi-fi and you have -0- personality so what’s left? On top of that - you had to lecture a 50 year old space engineer from Chicago about the long list of rules and he wondered who the jacka$$ was at the office. Yes, I will have a nice life and you need to visit other campgrounds. We followed the rules and forgot the price of a pump-out. For that I will never be forgiven…….AND YOU DID TELL ME AND MY HUSBAND IT WOULD ONLY BE $15.00. I don’t care what the website says. YOU...
