We rented the large apartment. Elaine was welcoming when I arrived, but she had me prepay for the stay without showing the apartment to me. She told me they had finished cleaning the apartment completely. I unfortunately had to ask her for a roll of paper towels as the ones there were mostly empty and I needed them to clean the freezer as there was what looked like meat drippings inside of it. Once we started looking around we started to realize that this was just the tip of the iceberg. The sponge on the counter was old and disgusting. It doesn't take much to put a new 50 cent sponge for a new guest. The plate on the table still had crumbs on it. The toaster was grungy. The coffee maker was scaled and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in forever. We have traveled the world and are quite forgiving with many things, but this was a bit gross so far. We shrugged and figured we were only here for two nights, if the rest of the place is clean it's fine. We were in and out within about 15 minutes and didn't arrive back until later that evening. ||||When we went upstairs to start getting ready to sleep, we found more and more signs that the place had not been cleaned well in a very long time. I understand that the building is old and maintenance is a pain, but having a clean establishment is not a difficult thing to keep together. We started finding hairs within the sheets, stains on the sheets, stains on the towels, rips in the sheets, the bathroom floors had not been cleaned, there were hairs in the bathtub, under the couches still had dust and old kid toys from prior guests under them. Our kid found one of those felt pads with a nail on it that gets hammered into a furniture leg and handed it to us when he was on the floor. Luckily he didn't sit on it. There was insulation placed into the fireplaces still. ||||Elaine knocked on our door and asked if we were having breakfast as we were the only ones there. We told her yes and she asked us what we wanted. We responded with, "What are our options?" Elaine mentioned "Waffles, Omelettes, Eggs, things like that." We told her we would ask the rest of our family and get back to her. She told us to take her pad and write down what we wanted. This seemed like a strange exchange to have a guest take down their own order. It would have been different if I suggested it, but we shrugged it off and started writing our order.||We ordered three omelettes, 2 egg sandwiches and waffles instead of toast or anything else. ||||When I brought Elaine this order, her entire demeanor changed. She gasped at our order "4 waffles? That's a lot! I'm cutting this down to 2." We replied with "We didn't know the size or anything, we figured they were something like an Eggo waffle." She kept making us feel horrible for asking for breakfast. "We don't have English muffins!" she said, at which point we told her bread was fine. We regretted even having breakfast at this point. The mood was strange. She made us feel unwelcome. Like we were such an inconvenience. I told her, "We didn't know what we could have so we just wrote down things like you told us to do." If she had told us "Omelettes only with cheese" we would have been fine with that. We tried being as polite as possible. We cleaned up our own place after breakfast. The food was quite good, the eggs, bacon and sausage were all top notch. The waffles were a little off and seemed freezer burned. The syrup was strange, since it didn't seem like real maple syrup. ||||When we were done we cleaned our table and brought the dishes right next to the kitchen for them to take away. When we saw Elaine again she told us "Tomorrow's breakfast won't be like this. We have other guests." Okay, I still wasn't sure how I harmed her. We were made to feel extremely unwelcome and an extreme inconvenience despite us being nothing but friendly. The whole exchange was so strange and made us want to quickly get out of your establishment. There was no reason for me to even bother telling her that our sheets and the room were disgusting at this point since we didn't know how we would be treated for telling her that.||||We handed Elaine the keys on our way out and she said "Hope you had fun." ||||The most important thing about a place you are staying at above all else is cleanliness and hospitality. This was not found in the apartment we rented. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in an establishment. It just kept getting worse the more we inspected. If they aren't cleaning the most obvious places, I'm sure everything else is filthy. ||||The pictures should help show...

Read moreVisited Top of the World Golf course on 9/9/19, writing this review a little late but I told the Bartender I would write the review. Every year while visiting the Lake George area I try to play a new course. I saw this on the list of local courses and decided to give it a try. Checked the reviews, which were so so IMO, decided to play it anyway. I am an avid golfer and like to play nice courses, the course distance wise is not a very long course but you need to make detailed shots. Setting up for your 2nd shot is pivotal. The yardage marks seem to be a little off IMO but I wasn't sure if it was the Altitude or not, shots were shorter than they were reading. The views were unbelievable on some holes which made for some nice pics, not as many as I hoped, but it was worth it. Greens were very nice and varied in size, that was challenging for many approach shots. The fairways were so so, many holes you couldn't tell the difference between short rough and the fairway. The course needs to improve that. Tee boxes varied as well, some good and some bad. The staff, which was really the Bartender/Starter/front desk/Waitress in all one, wasn't the friendliest person considering it is a touristy course. Tough to ask any questions to as every answer was a single word. Played 18 and then came in for some food/drink. Food was decent but only had some Apps. Apparently the restaurant fills up but at 7 pm on this Friday the place was a ghost town. Not much of a lively place. I would definitely play the course again as I think it was worth playing. I got my Tee time from Golf Now for $40. Much better than the $65 normal price, which isn't much either, but doesn't coincide with the course quality. I was a little disappointed that I accidentally left my Magnetic yardage finder on the cart, didn't realize it until after my vacation a week later. I called up to see if it was in the lost and found, the person I spoke to said they found one. He went and checked for it and said it was gone. Definitely my fault but that $300 fella didn't last long. Overall good experience of golf...
