I left this motel in tears today feeling completely violated after housekeeping (a man & a woman) walked into my room & saw me completely naked, without so much as a knock to warn me. But let me speak of the positives before delving into that nightmare. My husband & I have stayed here on several occasions, as this is the most reasonably priced lodging in the Rhinebeck/Red Hook area. There are higher quality hotel rooms a bit further away (Poughkeepsie or Kingston) for the same price, but the drive can be a bit of a hassle. The beds & pillows here are very comfy, the rooms have a Keurig single serve coffee maker & a couple of breakfast bars, plus housekeeping leaves you a handwritten note, which is a nice personal touch. The water is VERY hot, which is wonderful after a cold day; although, the shower heads do need to be replaced - they are old and blocked by mineral buildup. So, hot water, but sometimes only a trickle of it, depending on which room you get. The heater works well, so that is a plus. HOWEVER, the huge NEGATIVE for this motel is that the rooms have ZERO SECURITY devices to prevent UNWANTED ENTRY. No deadbolt. No swing bar door lock. NOTHING. Not even a measly "Do Not Disturb" sign to put on the handle. I have never felt unsafe here, as far as worrying that someone would try to break in. But this is the THIRD time housekeeping has walked in on me. Thankfully, the first two times I was clothed. Super annoying, but not worth writing a bad review. This time, however, the unwanted entrance was mortifying and devastating. Maybe for a guy this wouldn't be a big deal. And maybe some women would laugh it off. But for me, this was traumatizing. It was 9:25 a.m., so I still had 35 minutes before the (earlier than most hotels) 10:00 a.m. check out time. My husband had left earlier but had given me the morning to get ready at my own pace. Serious bonus points to any spouse that does this for their partner, BTW! The otherwise pleasant stay came to an abrupt end as soon as the door opened and naked me locked eyes with the female housekeeper. The male housekeeper was directly behind her, but he had the decency to turn away. I yelled "NOOOOOOOOOO!" because what else can you do when completely naked & staring into the eyes of a stranger? She said she was sorry and closed the door. But does "sorry" really fix anything? NOPE. Still feel violated. I called my husband in tears. He called the owner, who did come to apologize in person and agreed that her housekeepers need to figure out a better system of determining which rooms have been vacated. Apparently the current system is "no car in parking space in front of room = housekeepers can just barge right in." I understand that people make mistakes. But this is the third time the SAME MISTAKE was made by the SAME housekeeper. This is now more than just a "mistake." It is a habit. It is carelessness. It is unacceptable. And it needs to be dealt with. So, in conclusion, this is a pretty okay motel. Just put a chair in front of the door, or change in the bathroom. Or better yet, pay the same amount for a much better hotel room 20-30 min away that comes with a deadbolt and peace of mind, and enjoy a nice hot coffee and some tunes on your drive back to...
Read moreSo happy I found this little gem! Easy to find, conveniently located and recently remodeled, so everything is clean! ||We were in room 6, with 2 comfortable queen size beds. Floors are vinyl plank so no gross carpet, bathroom was adorable with large shower, large bottles of amenities to share, hair dryer, 6 towel sets (great to have extras when no front desk on site). Mini fridge with juice boxes in main area along with another sink and a mini breakfast bar with fruit, cereal, coffee, tea. ||Heat worked, well lit, ample parking, iron, ironing board available in room. Recycling bin along with garbage. All in all an excellent place to stay for a reasonable price. Highly recommend and check out CJs for pizza and Annabelle’s Village Bake Shop for breakfast if you want more than what’s I your...
Read moreWe came for the Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome and then decided to stay the night in the area. Fortunately we found the Rheinbeck Motel. It was originally one of those old-fashioned mom-and-pop motels--but no longer. It's brightly painted outside, and the rooms have been completely renovated and updated. They're airy and cheery. Our room had a new hardwood floor, modern bathroom with a very classy glass enclosed shower. The king size bed was new and very comfortable. It also had a kitchenette with sink, small fridge, and microwave. Wi-fi was fast. Our stay was very pleasant. I'd give it five stars if the review was limited to...
