I didn’t exactly love this place. It was mostly disappointing. When we first arrived, there were some weird figurines on our picnic table. Underneath one of them said p*nis….which my daughter pointed out. Smh. The beach is ok, but there’s a huge power plant(or something) across the lake that looks like the nuclear plant on the Simpsons. When you first arrive there’s a waste treatment plant….thankfully our spot was further away from it. Unfortunately, you have to pass by it to get to all the activities. There is CONSTANT traffic because everyone has a golf cart. Makes it difficult to ride bikes or walk because even though there is supposed to be a speed limit, golf carts do not follow it. There are numerous seasonals that were a bit rude. They don’t seem to like “outsiders”. But there were some others that were very friendly. The arcade is a huge waste of money. You have to put money on a card to play anything. Games are $3 or more. You cannot get your money back from the card. When a game malfunctions, there’s no one around to help or reimburse you. The craft show & car show were really great. My kids did enjoy the movie setup. You get zero reception so you have no choice but to pay for wifi if you want to be able to contact others in your group. Quite annoying to find out after you pay that the wifi barely works! You also have to stay right next to your RV, so it defeats the purpose of getting it. Also, you have to call to get wifi. You cannot purchase it at check-in or use cash. You will need a credit card. RV spots are very tight & close together. You get zero privacy. Everyone in our group was sent a text asking us turn some things off because their setup couldn’t handle everyone running electric. This is why it’s always good to have a...
Read moreVery nice campground! It's our first time here. It's well maintained and has lots of amenities and activities. I have the impression that most of the campground is annuals and seasonals. Neat yards must be enforced because we didn't see any trashy sites. There are lots of golf carts. Great seeing all the kids (& there were lots of them) playing...except after hours when kids were outside playing and screaming...sounded like a school playground. That's on the parents. WiFi was abysmal. We telework and need wifi so we paid for the camp wifi. It dropped out many times and was usually a weak signal...maybe we were too far from a wifi repeater, but that means the wifi company needs to add more repeaters to the park. Verizon & Sprint coverage in the park is non-existent. If we had an emergency, we'd be out of luck. Seems like a safety matter. Quiet hours aren't observed or enforced very well. The aforementioned kids, for example, and another night there was a domestic argument that went on for well over an hour...lots of f-bombs. Our site was mostly level & the power pedestal was in good order. Water pressure was okay Monday-Thursday, but when the park fills up for the weekend, the pressure goes down. Our on-demand hot water works at 40psi, anything less and no hot water. There were a few times when the pressure dropped below 40psi. I love that the beach area has a great, long bench to accommodate the many people who want to sit and enjoy a sunset. It's nice to find a Thousand Trails campground with a restaurant on site and one that assigns sites. So nice to not have to race to the campground by check-in time to get a suitable site! In spite of a few issues, we'd...
Read moreBeautiful beach views. It was so calming and relaxing and never crowded. Campground had many amenities including 3 pools. Fun planned activities including a band. AT&T cell service is basically non existent. We paid for WiFi which was cheap but pretty much useless. I have been to some cramped sites before but this on topped it off, site g7. Pretty much that whole area was too crowded. We had a horrible time getting out 36ft trailer into the spot, many other people struggled as well. Good thing most campers are friendly and offer assistance. We struggled to park because our slides were opening over the sites fire pit next to us or hitting the electric box, it was very difficult. The sites all have a concrete pad for picnic table area, which was nice. Family had a beach site at b6 and that was a similar situation. Golf carts are everywhere, I mean everywhere (which doesn’t bother me but something to consider). Electric scooters are not allowed either, kinda irritating considering the 100s of golf carts. Park patrol is frequently cruising around. Nothing much to do in the immediate local area. Drove 40 minutes to get to Watertown and did some shopping and get lunch (and cell service). Park could use some maintenance, roads are a little rough in areas but the grounds are well established with beautiful trees. Tons of permanent sites, which I love because it adds character. Overall, good experience. I might return considering the beautiful beach and amenities but it’s mostly likely a one and done for me for lack of cell service and local...
