I actually never write reviews and I certainly do not like to complain but this place deserves some honest comments. I have been traveling up Salmon Fishing for almost 20 years. My son's and I make this happen every year since they were little. We love Salmon Fishing and the family experience. I have been going to Douglaston Run for many years. I always loved that place. It is beautiful and prime fishing on the river. But times have definitely changed. The staff and the over-all atmosphere is very rude and nasty over the last couple of years. I notice that some of the comments on here are from guides and their clients that they bring to Douglaston to fish. So they get treated differently and hence the comments being different. Last year the Staff that patrols were way over the top on constantly interrupting you while you were fishing. And then come to find out the reason for that was because they actually were trying to sell me on the fact that they run a guide services on the side? They both even gave me their cards. But asked me not to mention to the management. I am sorry but that is a conflict of interest I feel especially since I paid to fish there. Again, I really do like this place but for the money you should leave with a much better feeling. I unfortunately will never be back here again. It is a Big Beautiful River and many, many streams to explore instead....
Read moreI am from Utah here visiting family and we talked about going fishing today. I was searching the internet and came across this gem this morning. We were at a local bait shop buying a few things and trying to get some information on what was going on with the Salmon River and wasn't really getting anywhere. So we decided to drive a few extra miles to Douglaston Salmon Run. When we got there all our questions were answered so we paid a small fee to fish. We had 2 children under sixteen so they got to fish for free! We were told where to try our luck first and what area's to try later in the day. When we got down to the river there was already a gentleman that just landed a King Salmon down stream a bit. Our party started to see fish within about 20 minutes coming up river. We had a few bites, caught some smaller King Salmon and a few bass. Later in the day we headed to the other spot we were recommended to visit for the afternoon and hooked on and caught a 25lbs.King Salmon within 15 minutes. We will definitely be making future trips to...
Read moreGREAT place to salmon fish on the Pulaski River! It is worth the extra money to get away from the crowds in the public access locations. Guides and staff are excellent and very helpful. We stayed at the Estuary Lodge and fished the DSR property for three days the week of Oct 8. The fish were running well, and we almost limited out every day. So worth the extra money to get on the property and avoid the crazy crowds. We've gone to the DSR and stayed in one of their lodges three years in a row, and next year we will be back. Highly...
