We hired the company for our wedding and they sold themselves as committed to quality and exceptional customer service, and we were highly disappointed. Sad to say, we had to contact the Better Business Bureau regarding this company, due to the poor service we received. Once we realized we did not get the proper attention and quality customer service we deserved, we asked for a refund. Harvest Real Food Catering & Events have blatantly ignored our requests, and when they did, they tried to bully us into leaving the issue alone. I was so disappointed to realize they do not respect their customers. It is rather unfortunate because we thought Mark's food was great (minus some really hard to eat brussels sprouts at the wedding! ).
A positive: We were happy with the menu we chose, as it sounded delicious and appropriate for a wedding. We thought the catering staff at our wedding were all very nice. We appreciated that the company uses local food supplies which was something that was important to us.
The administrative aspects of this company is its downfall. Kimberly Weeks seemed disorganized for a lot of our planning time, and as a bride, I felt I had to follow up with her several times to make sure things were done, or that we get a meeting scheduled. Mistakes were made on our bill, we got quoted two different prices for the same services, and communication was slow. She often times takes a long time to get back to her customers. They are usually unavailable Friday- Tuesday for events and days off, so questions will go unanswered till usually Wednesday or Thursday. We also had trouble scheduling meetings with her, as she was often away or we had to schedule around her kids school schedule ( no fault in that, but its frustrating when we didn't live in the area and could only meet during school hours).
In fact, I had sent an email with time sensitive requests 2-3 weeks before my wedding. She responded that night saying something to the extent of "Got your email, will respond tomorrow" only to never hear from her again. I wrote a quick follow up email to that one with no response. Only when I wrote another email saying "are you okay, are you in the hospital?" did she respond. As a result of us not being a priority, my time sensitive projects weren't able to be done before the wedding.
In summary, bartending service was horrific, we had guests complain that the bartenders were not professionals, and that they were scooping cold water into the drinks instead of ice, instantly watering them down. The company tried to charge us extra money for our signature cocktails than they originally had quoted, without giving us any explanation or apology.
Kimberly was supposed to be the one and only contact person for the rental services. She billed herself as the person who organizes and maintains the contracts with the rentals and the toilet trailer services. We were supposed to pay her for the services and she would then pay these companies. She was not updating our invoices in time, so we had to take care of the bill ourselves, and on Thursday evening before the wedding when the rental company brought the equipment, we realized she had never updated the numbers from the original guest count 8 months prior to the event! We had to call and handle the rental services ourselves to ensure all of our guests had seats at the wedding. If we weren't an involved couple, we would have been in big trouble come the event. Kimberly Weeks never once apologized for such a mistake.
We have a lot more grievances but you get the picture. Brides, wedding planning is stressful enough....go with a company you know will respond right away and make your life easier, not more difficult. If you do hire them, you'll have to be super on top of every detail, and super patient, as we were not confident in Kimberly's abilities to organize everything accordingly for us, and sadly we were correct.
We will see if with the BBB's help, the company will be fair in honoring our refund. We will update this review once the situation has...
Read moreOur wedding celebration was perfect thanks to Chef Mark, Kimberly, Amy, Debra and the rest of the staff at ElmRock Inn. We are so lucky to have found this amazing venue to host our family for a complete weekend of incredible food, comfortable surroundings and a personalized experience. After settling into our cozy "home" for the duration of the event, we were totally confident that everything would be handled by the accommodating, friendly and experienced staff--our focus could be spending time with our guests and enjoying the party!
Chef Mark is truly gifted but remains down-to-earth. He was able to provide individualized guidance for menu selections and even offered an impromptu "cooking lesson" for our interested 12-year-old! We had guests with both simple and experienced palates, and no one was disappointed. Chef Mark prepared fabulous fresh farm-to-table meals that were exciting and yet approachable for everyone. We had a hard time choosing from the delectable options presented, but were also given tremendous flexibility so that we could include anything and everything we wanted. We got many compliments on the food he prepared, from quality to taste to creativity.
The rooms at the Inn were rich, comfortable, and cozy; we filled every one but still had enough space that our family could stay together for the entire weekend without feeling crowded, inside or outside. The staff was always available and yet allowed us to feel that the property was ours. They attended to details we never would have considered, and everyone went out of their way to meet our needs--starting the party a little early, going a little later, coming up with an unplanned "signature cocktail," and being genuinely interested in everyone's enjoyment and satisfaction. From the planning stages through to the end of our event, there was never anything to fret over.
Our celebration was better than we could have imagined, and we would highly recommend both the food and the location to anyone looking for a unique and special celebration. We can't wait for another opportunity to repeat our experience with the amazing team at...
Read moreThe ElmRock Inn hosted our wedding weekend; Kimberly Weeks was a wonderful event coordinator. It could not have been more perfect!
Our bridal party stayed in the Inn and we, the Bride and Groom, stayed in the two-story carriage house, which doubled as a getting ready space for the hair and makeup team. It was not only an amazing way to keep everyone central, but also practical.
The day of the wedding was a dream. The ceremony site has beautiful afternoon light and was tucked within the tree line- very romantic.
At cocktail hour we were greeted with our signature drinks and plates of hors d'oeuvres during a private moment. A great way to ensure we EAT before the night continues. We selected to have signature cocktails, and The ElmRock team delivered.
The reception was a wonderful blur. The table settings were a replica of our inspiration photos, the space is intimate, yet the high vaulted ceiling gives it another layer of elegance, and the food was phenomenal - thank you to Chef Mark.
We ended the night with a bonfire. It was a great way for us and our guests to unwind after all the high-energy dancing. The bonfire is the perfect size that it seats at least 15-20 people comfortably, while maintaining intimacy and warmth. It was an amazing moment to be able to reflect on the night and to be able to look around and see our loved ones gathered around.
The next morning the bridal party was served a two-course breakfast in the Inn- another fantastic meal. It was another perfect opportunity to wrap up the weekend in an intimate setting. We had a chance to walk the property in the daylight, reflecting on all our favorite moments the night before.
Our hearts are so full- thank you to ALL at The ElmRock Inn who participated in making our wedding day the best day of our...
