We have been Thousand Trails members and avid RV campers for about 2 years now and this was by far the worst campground we have ever stayed at. The facility was not very clean and many of the amenities including the pool were out of service. The worst part about this facility was the noise. The campers in the site behind us had their music blaring, were talking/yelling loudly, and slamming car doors etc. from morning to past quiet hours at night. The first night we called management and they did have someone go over to ask the group to quiet down but it wasn't until 11:45 p.m that this particular group actually started settling down. In the morning the group began blaring their music and being disruptive again. We went to the front office to complain about the noise and explain that we had a daughter with Down Syndrome who has sensitive hearing and does not do well with loud noises. While the office staff did apologize nothing was ever done and the noise continued. We witnessed three other campers complain about the noise from this particular group then pack up and leave because management did nothing about this groups disruptive behavior. We even witnessed several Thousand Trails workers stop by to hang out with our noisy neighbors which leads me to believe that this group had some type of relationship with the workers which is why nothing was ever done about their behavior. We believe this location failed to provide reasonable accommodations to my daughter under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Because of the excessive noise level, my daughter had to stay in our RV most of the time and was not able to access the few amenities that were working. This experience has left us not wanting to renew our Thousand Trails membership for the upcoming year. If you enjoy peace and quiet or have a child with sensory issues this is not the place for you. While quiet hours may be between 11 pm and 8 am please be respectful to your neighbors and keep in mind that they may have special needs or simply may not want to hear your favorite radio station. Just because you can do something doesn't...
Read moreThis Thousand Trails has potential to be an amazing park. The new manager has his work cut out for himself. After a lengthy conversation yesterday I truly believe he and most of the team can make this park to a 5 Star experience. What was not great when we arrived last Saturday: The front office person had no clue that our 30’ rv could fit in a wooded area, so she sent us in what they call the field. Which is near the pool and kid friendly area. I’d call it Sardine Alley. So we drive around and saw we’d have no problem fitting in the more spread out area. Definitely train your staff better. The bathrooms/showers were not clean no matter what time we visited them. The manager insured me this will be changed ASAP. There needs to be security cruising the park up-to and past Quiet time, as many people have no clue how loud they are and playing their music. Some just don’t realize how loud they are and some don’t care. As in most 1000 Trails they give all the water front spots to Annuals, so traveling RVers or weekend peeps will never have the opportunity to have a lake, river or creek front spot, no matter what time of year! This is wrong. If 1000 Trails keeps selling memberships to people saying you can camp on rivers etc then they are lying and it’s false advertising.
WHAT WE ENJOYED!❤️ Awesome new manager, who wants an A-1 Park. The wooded area is amazingly peaceful. The park is clean and the pool and kidzone looks great. The kids and families seemed to enjoy the kid events a lot. Two nice trail to go on from the park. Most of the staff is friendly and try’s to get answers to questions.
We will be back and see how the New Manager Don, is doing on his list of improvements
We also drove to many small towns and water falls. We loved New Paltz, Kingston, Saugerties and the farms near by too. Best is the Arrowood Farms and Brewery right up the way from the park. It’s enchanting, great beer and awesome...
Read moreFirst time camping (glamping really) here and it’s not the worst but not the very best either.
One concern was that we booked two cabins and requested it next to each other which customer service had confirmed. But upon arrival it was not followed through. Long story short, we explained that the neighboring cabins are all empty anyway at the moment so why not book us right next to each other. We were accommodated only after speaking to the manager.
Next was that our air conditioning did not work. But again to cut short, they were able to provide us with two window airconditioners which worked out it the end and kept us comfortable. Dont get me wrong, all the staff we interacted were nice and polite, it’s just that you know - first impressions about the place…
The cabin also did not come with a grilling area - that is a first for us. All the cabins for every campsite we’ve been to ALWAYS had a grill. We borrowed an unused one from the empty/renovated cabin and brought a grill from Walmart nearby. I appreciated that there’s a fan on the porch though. And like what other reviewers mentioned, there’re a lot of seasonal and long termers here which meant most areas were occupied. And it wouldve been nice if the cabins we rented werent in between these long termers. Why? because they easily complain of noise (which they did with us) and our “sofa” that we “left outside”..uh hello its an inflatable sofa and is for outdoors. Seriously it kinda ruined the mood with some of these nosy “neighbors”. Anyway i’ll stop with the ranting lol so Yup, it’s not the most fun camping experience and there isnt much to do. Not for me anyway...they do have a pool, playground, a dirty pond, a nice stream, basketball court, and some special events. Glad Arrowood Farm was close by. That was the highlight...
