Do not stay at this park. They have a known issue with their power. From Lynn (owner) when we called to notify him that we had lost power: “we are at the end of the power line, and on hot days, you won’t get power. It will come back later as it cools down”.
This park takes reservations and charges you for electric knowing they cannot possibly provide it. We were in the middle of an open field, it was over 90 degrees, and we had no power. It kept trying to come back on, but would only stay on for a few seconds, then shut off again.
Every site in our row lost power. It would come on for a few seconds and then go out again. Several RV’s were unattended, and we witnessed their AC going on and off repeatedly.
Don’t waste your time or money. We left after one night and would have left sooner if it hadn’t been after 6pm by the time we got set up and then realized there was a problem.
Had we arrived later after it had cooled down and not realized the power issue and gone sightseeing the next day, we’d have lost power while were out, and would have lost all the food in our refrigerator/freezer and had potential damage to our electrical system/AC compressor.
When we called the following morning to say we were leaving because we couldn’t stay without power, Lynn said: “You understand this isn’t my fault. The power company has been out to try to fix this issue. I will only refund you half because it isn’t my fault.” While it isn’t Lynn’s fault that the power company cannot fix it, it is Lynn’s fault that he isn’t open and honest with people about this problem at booking or at check in. He allows you to pay in full, find the problem on your own, and then says he will only refund you half of what you paid, which is already too much since you aren’t actually receiving the service (electricity) you’re paying for. One day of vacation wasted packing up and moving to another campground, and money wasted giving it to Lynn for nothing.
I do not have any photos or review of anything else there because our entire evening was consumed by this issue and finding a new reservation.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: The issue was that we were not told about this problem up front. I'm guessing others may not have left because they were not aware that all day long their power was switching on and off. We would have been in that situation as well had we not arrived in the heat of the day to see it for ourselves. If your electrical system is not able to handle high temperatures, then you should advise people of that and refund money when they have no choice but to leave. It was our intention to go sightseeing every day. Had we not discovered the problem the first day, our food would have spoiled, and untold damage would have happened to our travel trailer.
It does not matter that it was an unusually hot week. We assumed it would be hot. It's summer. We also assumed that because we were paying for a site with electric service, we would have electric service. You did not disclose the issue to us, and that is irresponsible business ownership. I hope no one left a pet in their camper while the power shut off for the day. I also hope that no one with health issues was hoping for a reprieve from the heat in their air...
Read moreSned Acres is a clean, well (mostly) maintained older campground. There are pull-through and back-in sites with 50/30 amp power, water and sewer, and a dump station. They have propane refilling on site. The bathhouse and laundry areas are very nice, with all appliances clean and working. Some of the back-in sites have a concrete pad for your awning/patio area. The campground is terraced so some of the sites are sloped in various directions and are close together (really too close). There are mature trees (pines and oaks) disbursed throughout. There are older park models and a few old mobile homes scattered around the park but most are kept neat and in reasonably good order. Our pull through site #24 was very long and easy to get in and out of from the campground entrance. The 50 amp receptacle was upside down on our site, so I ended up with our surge protector pointed up and the cord to the RV wrapped around the meter to plug it in. All the occupants and staff we encountered were very friendly and polite and quiet time is adhered to every night, even on the weekends. On the office door there is a sign that says “Wi-Fi is free but not guaranteed” and that is obviously there for a reason. The campground Wi-Fi was definitely an enigma. The broadcast was constantly showing available, and then gone unreachable at all times of day as if it were constantly crashing, and the ability to connect to it was just as sketchy when it was briefly broadcasting. They offer cable TV however we noticed there were cable wires running along the ground all through the campground, indicating that the original buried cable was probably no longer usable. The cable reception in our RV was more like listening to cable TV rather than watching it, the signal was only strong enough to produce a snowy nearly unwatchable screen. We used this campground for a more affordable stay within reasonable distance to Flagler Beach and Ormond so it served it’s purpose for us, although at $38 per night it’s overpriced due to the reasons above. It would not have worked for a long term stay although there are many people doing just that who have their own Wi-Fi and satellite service to eliminate the issues with both. While we were there severe storms rolled through the area, including an imminent tornado warning. The owners were very attentive to the situation and opened the recreation room and asked people to leave their RVs for better shelter. We appreciated their concern and the sense of community that thrives at Sned Acres. I also met some of the work campers during our stay and they are really great people working hard to make Sned Acres a better...
Read moreThis campground served as a great base for us to explore the heart of the Finger lakes region in New York State. The longer we stayed, we were there for a week, the more I grew to like it. I think we ended up in the best section - at the edge of the campground, near the bathhouse and laundry, with lots of grass behind us, and the woods and small pond in front. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.
The campground is in two sections, divided by the road leading to the campground. On one side is the office, mostly seasonal sites, and the pool. On the other side is mostly transient sites. Each side has a bath house.
We were initially assigned site F-102. It was a FHU pull-through, but it was 3.1 degrees out of level side to side and 0.8 degrees front low. Since the site was so unlevel, I went to the office before setting up to see if there was another site that was more level. Justina was very nice and said there were two other sites that had availability for the week.
We ended up on site #128. Back-in FHU, gravel, 50/30/20, pedestal just barely tall enough for watchdog to clear ground, power was stable even in 99 degree heat, 4" non-threaded sewer with slip-on cap, good water pressure, picnic table, fire ring, gravel patio. Sunny, no shade. Large open grassy area behind. Site spacing is on the generous side of standard commercial campgrounds at 45 feet. Straight parallel. 0.2 degrees side low, 1.0 degrees front low. Able to auto-level with no pads or ramps. Quiet - no road noise. There are large dumpsters at the entrance to transient section as well as a recycling shed.
A disc golf course wanders throughout the campground. In the seasonal section, there is a grass volleyball court, a children’s playground, a basketball goal, tetherball, and the pool.
The large grass areas in front of the seasonal campers row, and behind the transient back-in row, really add to the spacious feeling of the campground.
They had 2 top-loading washers, 3 dryers, $1.50 / load. The bathrooms were clean, the showers a bit dated, but clean.
Verizon - 31.6 Mbps down, 1.44 Mbps up, 2 bars LTE; AT&T - 2.71 Mbps down, 0.22 Mbps up, which is basically all but unusable. Camground WiFi 42.53 Mbps down and 10.18 Mbps up.
Big rig friendly.
The campground recently changed ownership and changed the name to Wine Trail Campground. I felt their service was excellent.
Dean's Cove Boat Launch is 3.5 miles away. This was a convenient place for us to launch our kayaks. Lake Country Sales Market is 3.8 miles away with a good selection, surprisingly affordable pricing, and really...
