We always make this a family trip, 4-6 sites booked for a week. Check in time is 3, weâve always gotten there early so we did just like any other year and got there at 11. When we got there we were told we couldnât check in until 3, but they were nice and said we could at 2. We saw someone cleaning the outside of the camper we were renting and asked him if we could put our food away so it wouldnât go bad. He told us he was done doing what he had to do so we could. We had no intention on checking in then, all we wanted to do was put the food away. As we were doing that the owner comes in and asked us what we were doing and that we shouldnât be here until 2 (he said it in a nice way). When I was trying to explain to him what we were doing and that we asked a staff member for permission so he didnât think we just took it upon ourselves to barge in, he completely ignored me. I then told him we could put everything back in our vehicle and apologized for the mix up but he continued to ignore me and walked right past me. I understand there is a check in time for a reason but what upsets me is that I asked the staff about putting the food away and I told the owner we could move everything back out and that we didnât want any issues and he made me feel like I was nothing. Then as he was leaving he noticed we had dogs. Two of the dogs were mine, which I paid for having there, and the other two were my dads (they were all small dogs). I had them all in our camper just while my dad was backing up his camper. I told the owner that and all he said was âokayâ but I could tell he didnât believe me. So right off the bat we felt super uncomfortable staying there, but since we spent $1300+ on just renting the camper for the week we wanted to make the best of it. Our site was the site that all of my family hung out at. We set up a gate outside the camper where we could put everyoneâs dogs (4 pugs total) while we were all together, which we didnât think would be an issue since all the dogs were outside. The day after we get home I get an email about how they had to do excessive cleaning. I was mad about it at first, but I get it. They said there was dog hair, which pugs do shed so I can see that. They said some things werenât clean, It was my husbands job to make sure everything was clean while I packed the car so it was my fault for giving him that responsibility, so that didnât bother me anymore either. What did upset me was in the email they talked about the pet policy, which we followed. If there was an issue with my dads dogs being in our camper for a half hour while he was setting up why didnât anyone say something to me then? We would have gladly got them out of the camper. If there was an issue with other dogs being in the gate we had outside the camper why wasnât it addressed while we were there? We could have resolved it right away. I love camping here but this year with how everything occurred it made me feel so uncomfortable and made me feel like they look at us as if weâre careless people that think we donât have to abide by rules. Which why would we purposely violate the camp rules when this is somewhere my family has gone for 3 generations and was planning on returning to...
Read moreWe were at campsite 45 and we were there for a full week. The campsites were a bit closer then I had made them in my mind to be, BUT we were surrounded by such awesome people, that the âstrangersâ that were surrounding us soon felt like family! It is situated on BEAUTIFUL Big Saint Germain lake. The campground is under new management. The new owner is friendly, present and accessible. The new owners walked around everyday, introduced themselves and asked campers how they were doing and for ideas on how they can make the campground better. The staff was extremely dedicated to cleanliness of the grounds in general as well as the bathrooms and showers. Please take note that the showers are pay showers but they are extremely well worth it. They are clean and they have great water pressure there are three private stalls and they are $.25 for five minutes. Please save yourself some headache and bring singles or quarters. The change machine does take singles and five dollar bills but only the old five dollar bills which are rarely in circulation. The campsite is conveniently located close to many quaint shops restaurants and beautiful lakes attraction and attractions for the kids. Also please take note that this is a family oriented campground. There are a lot of people who have been coming here for 30 years and there are a lot of families that come here for their summer get togetherâs. Children run around freely and have the time of their lives. 10 oâclock is quiet time and you can hear a pin drop at 10 oâclock LOL. They have a beautiful little private beach, new piers and private boat docs. They have their own gas station, live bait and laundry facilities. You can rent boats and kayaks and peddle bikes for the kids. If we could offer just one small suggestion it would be nice if there were a small sprinkler available or some type of fresh water supply for the children to play in other than the lake on a hot day. Not suggesting something expensive but perhaps Sprinklers available a couple of Willy the water bugs LOL. It will be just cool to have a small alternative to swimming in the lake. Overall this was an amazing camping experience booked for next year same time before we even left. Thank you staff for all of your friendliness and all of your camping expertise we will see...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience at this campground. We attempted to stay over the 4th of July weekend. 3 people with 2 tents. We set up camp and several hours later got a phone call from the owner - I believe her name was Pat - stating their license only allowed one tent per site unless you were on a group site. Upon booking and checking in - nobody verbally told us that this was the case. After discovering we would have to take a tent down we went to the office and again encountered the owner. Without apology she started in on us stating she has been the owner for 28 years and would never tell someone that they could occupy that space with 2 tents. She said it was in our email confirmation and all of their literature. She was very defensive with a condescending and rude undertone. During booking and check in not a single question was asked about how many tents we would have. Wouldnât this be a basic question? Site is filled with mostly RV traffic and not many tents - so it wouldnât take more than a few seconds of their time to ask how many guests and how many tents they plan to have. Extra fee for an extra tent? No problem! Only one tent allowed? You should probably ask what your customer needs prior to accepting money. At the end she gave us a full refund because it didnât suit our needs - but remained sarcastic and unapologetic through the entirety of the interaction. On our way out the door she was sure to get the last word in. As we left the office she hollered after us with the utmost sarcasm âIâll be sure to verbally tell every single customer that only one tent is allowed in single unit sitesâ. A little customer service and slightly refined communication skills could have lent her well. Not a single apology for the inconvenience of setting up your entire camp, bedding, etc and then having to pack it up a few hours later. However - we gladly would unpack and pack up again to avoid giving business to an ungrateful and rude owner. Never experienced a blatantly rude business owner such as this. Do yourself a favor and...
