There are many reasons to visit Saratoga, but whatever brings you there, you should plan on being there for more than a day. Which means you will need a place to stay. We recommend the Maple Shade Bed and Breakfast located just outside the city of Saratoga. Tom and Joanne, the owners, have gone out of their way to juxtaposition the simplicity of a bygone era with the most modern comforts of today. The entire property is beautifully decorated, very clean and well-kept. We enjoyed our stay in the Blue Room. The king size bed was very comfortable and my wife enjoyed the down pillows. So much so that she bought one when we got home. The fireplace in the room was romantic and also helped us get warm after our wet outside adventures. The jacuzzi tub was very relaxing after a long day of walking the cold, wet streets of Saratoga in the rain. We were hoping to sit on the porch and relax a bit, though the weather was uncooperative. Joanne did tell us that there are mugs for Cocoa or hot coffee to sip while sitting on the porch, but we didn't get to that. The breakfasts were incredible. One day Western omelettes and bacon the next was pancakes and sausage links. Whatever the daily breakfast special was, it never left us wanting. Fresh, warm, homemade muffins and chilled fresh fruit along with coffee and tea accented the meal perfectly. The kitchenette was well stocked with snacks and drinks and the Wi-Fi was easily accessible and very reliable. This bed and breakfast was by far THE best that we have ever stayed in. We are looking forward to visiting Tom and Joanne...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Maple Shade for a few nights during my most recent travels, and this Inn is by far the best B&B that I've ever stayed at! As a young female on solo travel, safety is always a priority and a concern, and I felt not only safe but at complete peace at this beautiful property and under the thoughtful and kind care of Lindsay and Kyle (and their adorable little pup Schatzi). I stayed in the yellow room with the whirpool tub, and between the immensely comfortable and soft bed (best sleep that I've had in ages!), the cleanliness, the amenities, the relaxing and inviting common spaces, the stocked fridge with beverages, the snack and fruit offerings, and the absolutely delicious and mouth-watering breakfasts hand-made by Lindsay and her culinary talents, I truly cannot recommend this Inn enough. When I had originally looked for hotels and B&Bs in/near Saratoga Springs I knew that I wanted to stay somewhere that was accessible to the town but in an area that was free from road noise, was safe, was historic, and was a place that offered peace and relaxation, and after staying at this Inn I experienced all of that and more, feeling at home away from home. The proximity to the battlefield is the icing on the cake, as this Inn is essentially next door to the most critical battle in our nation's history, and this truly is just the most perfect place, in the most perfect location, with the most perfect Innkeepers. I cannot recommend the Maple Shade enough and I definitely plan to be back...
Read moreWow! This B and B was exceptional! We were ending a 17-day road trip to Nova Scotia and decided to stay somewhere in the Saratoga Springs area of upstate NY before arriving home the next day. While researching available B and Bs in the area, Maple Shade popped up. What a find! When driving down the country road leading to this establishment, all of a sudden it comes into view! What a picture perfect setting—up on a knoll, with beautiful maple trees surrounding the road side! The house is stunning and the landscaped grounds equality match the beauty of the home. JoAnn greeted us upon arrival and was friendly and kind. She is a great hostess! We booked the Tan room and found it to be lovely and comfortable. JoAnn showed us around the house, which is warm and homey, yet elegant. There is even a small kitchen area stocked w snacks and beverages for guests! This was truly some great pampering. The porch is ideal for sitting and reading a book. The quietness of the country setting was very soothing and relaxing. JoAnn gave us a couple of suggestions for local restaurants. She even printed off directions for the restaurant we selected and for getting to nearby Saratoga Springs. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful! We did have the pleasure of meeting Tom, as well, upon check-out. We were sad to go because we enjoyed such a relaxing overnight experience. We hope to visit again in the near future! Well done...
