I was given a room with flooring and not carpet, which I loved. The room looked great!
BUT, I notice after using the toilet the first time that my toilet paper took a very long time to go down. It was just slowly spinning before finally going down. Some moments I would have to flush it twice to get it down. I was getting ready to leave for the day and I noticed the toilet wasn’t flushing the toilet paper down. I flushed it a few times the water would fill up and slowly spin, the water would go down, but the toilet paper didn’t go anywhere. I let it go for a bit and tried flushing again before getting my shoes on to leave. Bad idea, the toilet filled up and kept going! All over the bathroom floor, I throw towels down and ran for the phone called the front desk told them what was going on. The front desk manager, ran to my room with the housekeeper, I ran to the door to let them in and slid to the door almost doing a split water was everywhere. The housekeeper snapped at me for not turning the water off. My thought was to get the towels down so that the water didn’t get to the door, which the water did go out the door. I didn’t think to reach around the toilet to turn off the water. This has never happened to me before. The water went out my hotel door and went into the hallway (which I have to add is still carpeted). I just kept apologizing that I didn’t know I need to do that and then I just stood there dealing with her snapping at me as if this was my fault. All I did was flush a toilet with toilet paper in it!
She got the water off and started putting towels down. Another housekeeper showed up and I stood there listening to them say, “this happens all the time” “ they should really show the guests where the shut off valve is when they check in so they can turn the water off when this happens” “ this just happened to the other room down the hall” and they kept going. Sounded like multiple times a day this happens. Now I know why they took out the carpets. Maybe they should contact a plumber instead.
After they dried the floor, the second housekeeper left to get something to wash the floor with.
There were pieces of toilet paper on the floor. The first housekeeper took her broom and pushed some of them out into the carpeted hallway, and then came back in and started to pick up the small pieces of toilet paper with her bare fingers and throwing it out into the hall and began touching everything without washing her hands.
The second housekeeper came back to the room with a small washcloth and a spray bottle. She sprayed one spot right in front of the toilet one sprits and wiping that with her dry rag, all over the bathroom floor with that tiny little spray. She also started picking up tiny little pieces of toilet paper with her bare fingers and throwing those away. Never washed her hands then she came out of the bathroom sprayed a small area in front of the door and wiped that everywhere. That’s how they cleaned the floor after my toilet over flowed. After all of this, I began to notice, while walking to and from my room while I was checking out, that there were tiny little pieces of paper that looked just like toilet paper all over the carpeted hallway. I didn’t notice it before, but now that’s all I see. I looked at the cracks under the doors of each room I passed and they all had these little white pieces of paper that looked like toilet paper. I am beyond grossed out! FYI there are some diseases that are passed through fecal matter. Please stay safe and go somewhere else.
Also want to add, the ice Machine...
Read moreI was staying here for a work-related training over 2 nights and it was absolutely DISGUSTING! The lecture parts of the training were in the Iroquois Meeting Room and there was ZERO air conditioning in that room so it was hot and disgusting all day. The room was also clearly used as a playroom for the owners children as there were kids toys piled up in the back corner and the walls, chairs and tables had been scribbled all over with markers. All of the chairs in that room were stained with either markers or a liquid of some sort. While setting up for the training, a coworker & I decided to setup another table since there was an extra one leaning up against the back wall, and that table was stuck to the wall. My private room had a disgusting mildew/smoke smell & I found a cigarette butt on the base of the floor lamp in the room. On my last morning I opened my curtains to let in some light and just below my room was a drug addict passed out on the lawn (see photo) - I’m not even kidding when I say at first I thought she was dead. Eventually the woman did wake up and walked past the windows of the Iroquois Meeting Room where we were having our training. That same woman was hanging out in front of the entrance every single night chain smoking cigarettes right by the entrance door. There were clearly drug addicts living in this hotel full time. The owners also clearly live in the hotel and just let their young kids run around and make messes all over. Every where you looked there was dirt or questionable substances on the walls. The window in my coworkers’s room had a very large break in it and instead of replacing the window it was just being held together with packing tape. The ice machine had mold, mildew and other crusty stuff all over it. If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would and I would not recommend anyone stay here. If you’re passing through, depending on the direction you’re heading, I’d either continue further and stay in either Oneonta or Albany. There were 5 of us staying in our own rooms and every single one of us had rooms that smelled horrible. The front desk person was constantly absent and impossible to get a hold of while they were gone. The hotel is walking distance to a building where a man was walking around shirtless clearly intoxicated on something and he eventually got arrested - a coworker saw the arrest happen. All-in-all,...
Read moreShould be titled Basic Inn not quality. I don't feel there was anything of quality in any of the items or spaces. It was just basic. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. We had no soap in our room and as soon as we mentioned to the cleaning lady she apologized and corrected the error. The convenience of location was a plus. The price was a bit on the high side, but lower than some other area hotels. I liked the continental breakfast. It had bagels, English muffins, toast butter, jellies, or cream cheese. Choice of fruits, 2 cereals, hard boiled eggs, juices, water, tea, and fresh coffee. The highlight is the waffle maker. There is a machine that you pour the batter into a cup then transfer the batter to the waffle iron, close lid and spin top to bottom. It does the cooking and timing for you. When ready- "ding" timer goes off and fresh waffle. They have butter and syrup for that too! You could get fancy and whip together jelly and cream cheese to top that off with. Delicious! I limited myself to one but could have been there all morning really. Warm your butter up first or it is too cold to spread. The room was mostly clean minus one area between the bed side table and the wall- wow that needed to be vacuumed. I dropped a shiny penny to give a hint to staff that they should probably clean there, or the next person will get a shiny penny. Everything else was fine- no bed bugs so that is a plus. Booked over the phone, that was very easy and the staff was polite. It was VERY quiet, never heard traffic or dogs and we saw people walking in/out with them as this is a pet...
