We were in the Seneca Lake-region for a recent event with our dogs and needed a place to stay for two nights. Despite the reservations already being a challenge, we finally committed to this place and thought, well, it is only for two nights. We were quoted a total price including our three dogs of nearly $500 dollars. Upon arrival, the receptionist said, she would not see a reservation for our dogs and we were to pay an additional $25 dollars per dog for each night we stay. We had no choice than to comply, if we wanted to stay and occupy the room. The room smelled disgusting, the room was nasty, unkept and simply not clean. The kitchenette had everything in it, just nothing useful - as if someone had cleaned out their house of anything extra they no longer needed or never use in their own kitchen. The stove-top burners were rusted out, as if the stove had sat years outside exposed to the weather and then added to the motel to offer a room with "kitchenette". Everything was sticky and simply not cleaned. The bed was not level, had the foot part of the bed elevated over the head. The A/C if you can call it that, was disgusting - refrained from turning it on to get some fresh air in the room. If we had a choice, meaning an alternative we would have not stayed - especially with our dogs. But, with a Balloon-festival going on at the same time, there were simply no other rooms available. We knew with a two-star motel we won`t have the amenities or comfort, but that does not account for how dirty and unkept this motel was. People can still pride themselves with cleanliness even with less comfortable accommodations - but far from it. In summary, the additional / made-up on arrival fees and the condition this motel is in, certainly scratch it from our list of places we will ever stay again. Hopefully this review saves someone else the headache! Attached are three photos of the stove top- representative of the rest of the room - for $138 plus made up fees per night. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Update - Response to Owner: I appreciate your response. In answering your question in how you can make it right, it would be a good start to overhaul your procedures and treat people right in the first place! Prevention is key! An apology after the fact? The train has passed for me as a customer - what would you offer me to make things right? A free stay? This would not happen again! You could start by refunding me the additional fees you took at the time of check-in, which I had already paid when booking and reserving the two nights. Not seeing anything in the computer? I had a print out of the original reservation, you still did not honor it! You could start by offering a generous refund policy in case of necessary cancellations. We had no choice than "quiet down" and taking what was offered, paying the additional fees and staying, since you do not offer a refund and we needed a place to stay. You can start by making things right for the future and re-invest the money you make with "this operation" back into the motel for future guests. That is how bad this experience was. I have never had a worse customer service experience. The people who run this hotel are not ethical and are very rude. ||||||I booked two rooms a few weeks in advanced through one of the booking websites. When we got there at 5:00 pm the wife of the owner told me that she only had one room available. There were still guests in the other room and we would have to wait two hours until that room opened up. She then saw that there were 3 of us and not 2 of us. She started to get upset that there was another person. She started to get excited and raised her voice. She told me she was charging me 25 dollars extra for the extra person. I was surprised at that and I did not like the way was treating us. I have paid for two rooms so what if I have another person with us??? What difference does that make? and I was disappointed that the room was not ready but I said ok. She took a 100 dollar deposit and gave us a key. I told her we would be back later.||||We then went to a family members house for dinner and at 9:30 we were back. I sent my wife to go get the other key as I really disliked her attitude when we were there before. My wife called me and said she needs to see me. When I went in she told me that my reservation was cancelled!!! WHAT??? She told me I canceled it. I said no I didn't. She started screaming at us. You want to call the cops!!! Go ahead and call them! Its canceled its not our fault!!!! I would not accept it was cancelled as I did not cancel it. I did not get an email. The husband owner came out as he could hear her yelling. He told me he could give us 2 rooms. I said ok and he asked for my credit card!!!! He wanted to charge me again!!!!!!! NO! NO! NO! I was not going to be charged again! I told them I do not trust them and I would never give them a dime. They were trying to double book the rooms. I slammed the key hard on the desk and told them they were scammers and that I would be leaving bad reviews everywhere. The wife started screaming at me again and I got out of there.||||The hotel itself is not in good shape. Its very run down. I was going to stay there anyway until they made that impossible for me. I really believe they do this scam a lot. If you use a booking website they will pretend not to see your reservation and try to charge you again.||||The booking websites should really take them out of their systems. This hotel is a run down hole in the wall that really needs to be closed down. Read moreThis place was a nightmare. Normally you'd think, maybe someone is exaggerating when reviewing but no! This was straight out of a horror movie. Let's start by saying it says Hotel in the name but it's for sure a Motel. (Accuratly named Motel from Hell by this reviewer) Now we were eight women and booked the 3 bedroom suite and did not get anything near as advertised. The pictures online does not represent what was given at all. One of the doors in our room had "keep out" written on it in pink paint that dripped and dried up. There were supposed to be four beds but only three were in the room. Well, the gentleman that was working walked over to the shed and pulled out a sandwich bed and proceeded to make the bed in the parking lot. He then closed it back up and rolled it into our room. There was some unknown splatter on the ceiling that had us all freaked out. And the room wasn't even fully painted. It seemed like there were some huge holes in the walls and they covered it up with spackle or something. Not only that, we went to turn on the AC and there was so much dust and a few dead bugs. Didn't turn it on after seeing that. So we went to open a window and not only were there dead flies but the window screen had a huge cut in it that someone can climb through the outside. We closed that back up. Went to use the fridge but it was not only dirty but unplugged. To top it all off, we wanted to leave and couldn't because all the other hotels in the area were full. So we wrapped up our hair in our sweaters because that's how itchy and gross it felt in there and We "slept" there for three hours. 4am to 7am. We woke up with itchy eyes, scratchy throats and some slight coughing. Turns out there was mold behind the beds and some cabinets. And the curtains were DUSTY. Never staying there again, the place pretty much tried to kill us if you'd ask me. When we tried to talk to the person at the office they basically said they can't do anything, can't give us a refund. They said they just work there and got dropped off by the owners, they don't know what to do. (understandably not his fault) however, very annoying that the owners would just drop off an employee when they know how many complaints they would get.
