Part of our experience was failure to look around, as we booked this place for a wedding we were attending and this is where everyone was staying.
Location: There's nothing really close nearby except two restaurants with limited hours and the white dunes park.
The lodge: Large and nice, right on Lake Michigan. Our room offered amazing views of the lake with two patio doors leading right out to a lawn that traveled down to a big open sand beach. Perfect for warm months and swimming. The bathroom in our room had a huge jacuzzi tub, easily fit for two people, plus a stand-up shower. Lots of closet space. We were at several rooms throughout the lodge due to the wedding. Rooms of the same size were still set up and decorated slightly differently. The rooms with several bedrooms were HUGE and everyone staying in them were shocked at the size. Big families fit easily.
Food: No food is offered at the lodge whatsoever unless you go to one of the two restaurants nearby during their hours of being open. But, the room offers a FULL kitchen with all utensils, pans, plates, cups, and silverware needed to cook. There's a dishwasher as well with cleaning solutions included. As well as dish soap to hand wash. A full-size fridge offers much room to bring food. There's no spices, oils, or anything like that located in it. We were caught off guard with no food options at the lodge and no breakfast. Note: The fire alarms are super sensitive and even go off from shower steam.
Extra: The pool was nice and warm, and so was the hot tub. The pool area itself was really warm, and you almost needed to swim to cool off. There was a sauna located in there, too. There were several grills located outside, along with sitting chairs to look at the lake. We didn't go to the other side of the parking lot much, but I do think there were tennis courts over on the other side.
Parking: The parking lot was large enough for all. However, driving from one side to the other was only one lane wide and made you wait for other people. We didn't have any issues parking near our room.
Staff: We didn't see them often since we were out and about. But every time we did, they were friendly and helped in whatever way they could. Housekeeping isn't daily unless...
Read moreLast night, we enjoyed a delicious dinner in the stunning dining room of Glidden Lodge Resort. Upon entering the dining room and asking for a table for four, we were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes for a table, and that it's usually a good idea to make reservations, as the restaurant is always busy. I am so glad we decided to wait for a table! (Cherry Mules in the bar made our wait time seem much shorter...) The soup and salad bar included in our dinner was very nice. The soups were hot and tasty, the salad components were crisp and fresh. For dinner we had steak kabobs and beef stroganoff, both of which were delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert we all shared key lime pie, "death by chocolate" cake, and salted caramel layer cake. All three were amazing... We couldn't decide which one we liked best. When the check arrived, we agreed that the price we paid for dinner was an excellent value for the quality of food and service we received. One of our favorite parts of the evening was the breathtaking views of lake Michigan through the large windows in the dining room. If you're thinking of dining here, don't hesitate... It's one of our...
Read moreGlidden Lodge Beach Resort is one of our favorite places to stay when we visit amazing Door County. This pretty lodge is located a bit 'away from it all', but we love the views that make it worth just staying put in any/all of the waterfront condos. Our recent stay was in a beautiful three bedroom condo near the northern end of the building. Mother Nature did not cooperate with us the week we were here, but the amenities at Glidden kept us cozy and relaxed. Clean pool, well maintained hot tub, fireplace, comfortable beds, amazing master bathroom with large walk-in shower, great television reception (and Netflix!), takeout food purchased nearby, cheese and crackers, and many beverages of choice. Happy Days! Our only issue, as we are not as able-bodied as we once were, was getting our luggage up and down the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. A bit of a challenge, but we took our time and sort of dragged and bumped them upstairs and downstairs. We do appreciate the luggage carts and elevators to help us get to and from the parking area and second floor rooms. Hope to see you...
