After finding out our preferred suites were already booked at the wonderful inn we stayed at previously in Door County, we decided to try Westwood Shores. We liked it even better! All the rooms are very spacious suites with nice views of the Sturgeon Bay. Being shorefront, it has a big lawn, a picnic area, and Adirondack chairs for watching the magnificent sunsets. Though it is in a quiet area off the beaten path, it is within a short driving distance to Sturgeon Bay museums and restaurants (including Culver’s and McDonalds), and not far from many other tourist attractions in Door County. Our premiere 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite that faced the water had a full kitchen, large living room, built-in gas fireplace, whirlpool, and private balcony, and it was very well-maintained and nicely decorated. The extra special aspects of this resort that made it stand out are the kind, friendly, personable employees (Yvette, Luke, and Annie), the complimentary 24/7 coffee available in a beautiful living room near the lobby, the little store that has frozen breakfast items to heat up in the microwave, and the built-in gas fireplaces. Next time we visit Door County, Westwood Shores will be our first choice!

What a quirky place! Definitely a beautiful property. Rooms: Dated. Not terrible, but definitely noticeable. The fridge was loud when it kicked on, the freezer even louder. The bedroom ceiling fan also needs a tune-up. The pool towels are hidden in the bedroom dresser?? I swear every receptacle has two light switches. The living room tv didn't work on the first night but maintenance was quick to respond and went above and beyond. The bedroom TV is haunted. Every night at exactly 1:43am I woke up to the TV playing sound for 3 seconds (screen stayed off). I even muted the TV before bed and it still turned on. Cell service: Good luck getting service with T-Mobile. It was spotty at best. Price: Very affordable in the off season. Front desk: Everyone was very friendly. They also have free hot chocolate. Parking: A little cramped on the right side of the resort near the dumpsters. By the lobby there's a bunch of spots.

We absolutely loved Westwood Shores and look forward to coming back! The views were beautiful, especially at the Autumn color peak. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we reserved, we didn't realize that there were two pools, indoor and out and that the rooms were all individual condos. The one bedroom was spacious and comfortable. We chose an end suite, but any of the apartments would have been lovely because they all face the lake. Enjoyed delicious rich hot chocolate in front of our fireplace every night and was pleasantly surprised with the games that were available in the sitting room in the lobby. We enjoyed that this was away from the hustle and bustle of the other towns, allowing us to avoid the crowds and traffic as we made our way around the peninsula. The beautiful sunsets were an added bonus! Three of these pictures were taken from our room, one from the lawn.

We had a reservation for 3 nights from July 23rd, 2022, to July 26th, 2022 in a premium 2-bedroom suite. I called the front desk to request a room on the 2nd floor or higher if any were available. Bryan (the manager over there ) answered the phone: The first thing I was told was that he doesn't understand my English (an great way to greet and insult the customer right away). After Bryan started to understand my English, (without any change in the way I was speaking), he told me that most people like to stay on the first floor. Without waiting for a reply, he then proceeded to say that the hotel is completely booked and I can cancel my reservation at any time and 5 people will "jump" to take my spot. He basically told me to be happy with what I had or leave. Also, Bryan said that we made a reservation for 2 people, but since the 3 of us are coming we have to pay $15 more per night, and sent us a confirmation with the new, higher, amount right away. This room accommodates up to 6 people, so we didn't even pay attention to the number of people in our booking. Even if we had, online booking (directly from the hotel) doesn't reflect the difference in price for 2, 3, or 6 people. The price was the same no matter the number of people. When I called back and let Bryan know about that, he said that if I am really worried about those $45, he can waive the $45. Yes, I am really worried about those $45, I work hard to make every penny and I don't want to pay extra just because the service desk representative wants to charge me more. Allthourghout, his tone and attitude were highly unprofessional and dismissive. He seemed uninterested in listening to me and didn't treat me as a paying customer. I complained to the management about the terrible experience I had with Bryan. They offered me a mild appology, making sure to mention that they have many good customer reviews. Ok, then I just want to let you know, that according to the review from me, it is not! This is why when I tried to tell him that he is being rude and I didn't like the way he was talking to me, he refused to apologize. Instead, he said that "everybody likes him," and that I should instead accept it and deal with his tone and attitude. Also, I didn't get an explanation for why the manager from your resort was trying to get an extra$45??? In conclusion, even though it was a big inconvenience for my family, we had to cancel the reservation and change our vacation plans. Never again will I stay at this place. But, I am sure that neither Bryan nor his management cares about it. They have "5 more people who will jump into my spot" I just hope that Bryan will read my review, and will think before insulting...

We have been coming to Westwood for 20 years and our most recent will be the last. Westwood lost complete power and water on day 3 of our stay. It is understandable that unexpected things happen but Westwood was completely unprepared to provide any assistance. The desk person sent home all staff when the power went out "since they couldn't do anything". Rather than calling staff in to help communicate the situation with us, we were all left in the dark to figure out what was going on by ourselves. We were provided with one option to rebook with other accommodations, but with no assistance other than the name of the facility. We received no updates other than shortly before sunset that we need to vacate because they were going to remain with out power. I have never met such an ill-prepared and incompetent management staff. At no time did management take proactive measures to apologize for the inconvenience. Almost two weeks later, they took a minimalist approach of refunding me the 3 nights that I was unable to stay. Nothing more, nothing less.

When they finally got power restored a week later, again, I had to take the initiative to call and I specifically asked to speak to someone who has "power". When the "manager" returned my call she specifically told me that she did not have the ability to do anything to compensate me for my disrupted stay - that person wouldn't be in until the following week. The "manager" repeated many times that they were not prepared for a loss of power. Any facility with good management should have some form of a plan for catastrophic events. The don't even print a hard copy of a resident roster each day in the event of a computer or power failure. Each conversation I have had with Westwood has revealed arrogance and a total lack of preparation.

Westwood Shores has made it abundantly clear that they do not value or appreciate the business they receive. A history of stays over the past 20 years will now be shared with another property in the beautiful Door County area that actually appreciates its...

This is my favorite place to stay in Door County. Love the 2 bedroom suites for families and outdoor pool with the lake and sunset in the background. I wish I could enjoy sunsets here every night. There is a big backyard to play on overlooking the lake as well. I love they also have kayaks and a paddle boat to take out on the bay. Every room has an amazing view of the lake and sunset. I especially favor though one of their premier rooms. The best cup of coffee in the morning and wine at night is enjoyed on your own private patio overlooking the sunset on the lake. I also enjoy grilling dinner and eating together on the patio as the sun sets.

The entire property is always clean, well kept and the staff are always very friendly. Annie and Luke are always a welcoming face to see when we visit each year. I mentioned to Luke the propane was running low on our last visit and he was wondering if I wanted it switched out right now. Explained no. We already started the grill and should be good tonight. I would check it though for the weekend. The next morning as I was having coffee on the patio viewing the lake, boats and pelicans maintenance was doing the daily outdoor rounds of cleaning the nights spider webs and lake flies off everything, checking the pool and saw him change out the propane :) Love the fully stocked kitchen in our room and stopping at the grocery store and Marchants Meats for food to grill. We have stayed here 3 times all during the summer and have next year booked already. Book your next stay while you are here and get a discount on that stay.

I would love to come back during the off season and see a different side of this beautiful place and enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub on a...
