Absolutely incredible!
This place was truly exceptional. I had heard good things about it, but was blown-away over-and-over by what the whole hotel space has to offer and how it is all delivered. The attention to detail is impeccable, and all the little nuances of the hotel feel so well put-together. The staff is very friendly and inviting, and we had the pleasure of meeting the manager Allison who went above-and-beyond anything I could have expected to welcome us at check-in. Perhaps she could see our eyes glimmering as we were gazing at everything, and she showed us around.
The drive to the hotel is beautiful in itself; We were really enjoying the scenery off the beaten path and sites along the way like the intricate Ukranian church, and just as I was starting to wonder where in the world we were going, there like a beacon at the end of the road was Eastwind. It immediately impresses upon sight, with a gorgeously-chic reception area that links to and even more gorgeous & cozy-looking restaurant, bar & lounge area, complete with couches wrapping around a fireplace and all looking out huge floor-to-ceiling windows. We weren’t able to sample anything but the menu too looked exquisite.
The hotel space is laid-out so, so nicely - Everything feels really well spread-out to give an open-feeling of spaciousness, but yet there are so many different spaces here really smartly arranged; There are two distinct fire areas at opposite ends of a large open, lightly-treed space, with other distinct sitting and hammock spaces all in this very open & broad central courtyard type of space. Everything about this hotel feels very open and expansive, while always modern & elegant.
We got to see into some of the room options, which immediately excited us for our return; I can ‘t wait to stay in the lofted King room with not only a whole additional living-room style space upstairs but also with a net-hammock kind of thing built right into the floor. It looks like the most comfortable space to lay down and read a book in, and also helps to create such a spacious and cool feel through the entire room. The layout of the different rooms too is just so well thought-out so that there seem perfect options for singles, couples, friends and families with kids even in adjoining rooms that can open onto one-another.
We stayed in one of the Lushna Suite cabins, and it was too cute & cozy to even describe. Everything about it was just pure comfort. It felt nice & spacious with a living room with couch next to giant floor-to-ceiling windows opening-up onto a private patio all so comfortable that I could happy hanging-out just in here all day. Everything was so clean and crisp feeling where even the bathroom felt luxurious. But then walk upstairs to the lofted queen bed, with two ceiling windows above the bed which itself is so, so, so comfortable… My partner has a really bad back problem that is always causing him grief, but he had the best sleep that he can remember on this mattress! The two different types of saunas are also a complete treat for the body, feeling open, clean and inviting while being setup so comfortable that it was simply perfect. As if that wasn’t enough, and just when thinking that this place couldn’t possibly be any more inviting, the saunas are also next to the hotel’s own meditation cabin that further adds to the dream that this hotel is.
Like I said, we were blown-away. Everything about this hotel is simply...
Read moreMy partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Eastwind Oliverea Valley over the weekend. Let me start by saying the property may be considered “glamping”, but it is so much more. Upon arrival at Eastwind Oliverea, your eyes are instantly happy with how beautiful the layout is. It looks like something out of a travel magazine— you feel like you’re in the Alps, and not the Catskills. ||Upon arrival in the main building, you’re greeted with a glass of complimentary prosecco by the most wonderful and friendly staff who truly go above and beyond to make your entire stay or rather, experience an absolute pleasure. Not only are you greeted in this way, but given it’s dog friendly, our pups were even greeted with treats and complimentary dog toys. As they give you the details of the property you can’t help but stare in awe at the architecture, breathtaking woodwork, and interior design. The rooms are gorgeous and beyond comfy (think hygge). Although considered minimal, everything is functional, and clearly designed with intent. The grounds are set in this magical valley filled with sounds of nature and kept pristine. There is nothing they did not think of to make your stay exquisite. ||As far as the food and beverage… Let us just say that we regretted leaving on our second night to try a local restaurant because there was simply no comparison to the experience we had at Dandelion (we were even driven to that restaurant by the lovely owner, Bjorn, so we didn’t have to worry about drinking and driving). Besides the fact that Lizzie might be the best mixologist in New York State, the culinary team at Dandelion blew our minds! The menu is seasonal, the ingredients are local, the presentations (both food and beverage) were magnificent. The fresh corn bread was INSANE the ram pesto (grown on the property) was mouth-watering, as was the pork. After dinner, they provide smores kits to sit by the fire pit (which is also beautiful) under the stars. In the morning they give you the option to pre-order a breakfast basket with freshly made pastries and other delicious goodies, topped off with a thermos of fresh coffee. Oh, and they even included a little box of treats for our dogs. Again, no detail was left out. ||The local hiking and sightseeing are great for all levels— they also provide complimentary bikes for mountain biking. Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to visit the sauna, but we plan to when we book our next stay because we can’t wait to return! ||Truly such a great experience at Eastwinds Oliverea! Thank you so much to Bjorn, Jenny, Lizzie ad the rest of the wonderful staff for going above and beyond to make our stay so...
