Ruined our vacation a day after booking. We booked a wild man wild ride along with a cabin and tent site. When booking over the phone I thought the staff was extremely friendly and helpful to find out the next day that wasn’t the case. We were looking into a private morning rafting trip over the phone with a gentleman named Jordan; when he brought up the wild ride due to us having few people.( No mention of it being in the afternoon only during the week days or to later find out it might not be available when we get there) with the previous content of our conversation I went ahead and booked it thinking it was a morning run.
Get a call the next day by a very nice lady going over the trip details (I thought was awesome for them to do) then she got to the 2pm rafting, I said, we booked for the am and already have the rest of our trip planned and booked. she stated they didn’t have anything available and I could be transferred to a manger (Maddie) well..... from the start maddie would just talk right on over you explaining we are here for the whole week only doing the one activities with no regard of compassion for what “we had planned or booked. I had to explain again! it wasn’t explained to us as it was only an afternoon event during the week and we had already booked the rest of our trip. Maddie said she would review the phone call and give me a call back. I get a call back she was super friendly saying she can see where the misunderstand came into place and she has a solution. Her solution was to take us down another river (not the one we booked and were excited to go down) then states the water is currently to high for the wild man Ride on both rivers. Why wasn’t that explained to us when booking the wild man wild ride? Then I asked if that wasn’t available if we could just due the private trip (due to Covid don’t want to be in a boat with a bunch of people) she right away got defensive talking over me more and more stating that’s not an option because the private trip might not be available; Well if you sold me something that wasn’t potentially available why can’t you reserve me a potentially available private rafting trip? She just keep taking over me, time after time, I could barely get any words out. when I finally did; I said maybe we Should just cancel the white water rafting part. Then maddie says okay I will cancel your entire reservation.....(with out explaining anything) my wife literally had to say hello for almost 30 seconds to get Maddie to stop talking To interject saying we don’t want the entire trip canceled then Maddie says we are being rude for trying to get a few words in. I am a yes ma’am no ma’am person I may have been frustrated but by no means was I ever rude, you know what was rude, having the operations director continue to talk over me put me on mute so she can make side comments, not listening to our replies; (to busy making comments to co workers) jumping to conclusions, making us feel uncomfortable about our trip, belittling our knowledge saying she’s been doing this for over ten years. Well With ten years it sounds to be like you might not like your job or care about the customers any more. Because how does a family who wasn’t explained the trip time changes get called names for asking simple questions with yes ma’am and no ma’am replies? After reading reviews and owner responses I can see this has been an on going issue with the lack of customer care and compassion. We hopefully don’t get bullied during our trip by the staff, that seems to be the number one compliant after a customer makes a complaint.
Book north woods adventure or true north outpost, they actually care. You won’t get stuck with something you didn’t pay for they are 100% up front and honest about your trip before booking. Wild man booked our non refundable trip then called us the next day saying what was really available. Wish us luck, (no rude owner responses needed) we know we might not be a “fit” for wild man ranch by your judgement but we are stuck with this...
Read moreVery very bad experience with this resort. We found their "bachelor package" on the website and called them to work out what that package included. Multiple phone conversations claimed that it was a package including a cabin, three activities, and meals for the weekend. We then had to pay in full before arrival.
When we showed up to check-in we asked where we would have to go for our meals. The response we received was two-fold. 1: It doesn't look like your group is signed up for the food plan 2: We don't actually have packages. Everything is itemized and we use package names to help suggest what things to do during your stay.
The lone employee at the check-in desk was very friendly, but wasn't able to do anything for us. She said she couldn't add the full meal plan now because it was too short notice. We could only work with the manager, who was not working at the time.
The phone service in this area is hideous, heads up! We had to play phone tag with the manager for hours over dinner (Which we had to figure out last minute ourselves). The end result was either we pay another $500 for the a PARTIAL food plan, or we need to figure food out on our own.
Figuring out food on our own was an impossible task because we had a 12hr day planned with the resort for the activities that were part of the package.
On top of this literal "bait and switch" fiasco, we learned that this campground does NOT provide locks for their cabins. The reason being that giving customer's the key to the cabin is a safety hazard. If you want to protect your belongings, you have to lock everything up inside your personal vehicles. This is insane! It's an hour drive to their activities sight and they don't provide a shuttle. So you have to pack everything back up in the vehicle you're driving to the activities to PROTECT it.
The cabin itself was maintained to the bare minimum. Screens had holes, forcing windows closed at night to keep swarms of bugs out. No AC, so extremely hot inside the cabin. There was a TV and WiFi box, but neither actually worked. I'm guessing putting an indoor WiFi box on the outside of the house plugged into an external outlet would do that!
However, all said and done, we where able to make the bachelor party enjoyable. The activities were a blast. Props to the activities crew. I suggest staying far away from the cabins and meal plans, but to check out their white water...
Read moreWe did the zip line, pontoon kayak and wild rafting rides and all were a fantastic experience. First of all I am 72 and my son is a very large man of 36 years. But on our one ride was a 7 year old so all ages and sizes were there. It was a very bumpy wet kayak experience but the guides made this an over the top great memory. It was not easy as we all had to figure out how to get off rocks that trapped us. If someone had trouble there was always a smiling guide nearby to hop into the water and pull us off and onward. The children who came needed a little more help so it ended up a guide tied his pontoon to the kids and pulled him through the wildest passages. The safety instructions were essential as we all needed them and several of us did fall out and have to get pulled back by guides. No worries as it was expected.||Zip lines well I've done more scenic but for those doing it the first time it was a very safe and extremely reassuring time. The guide explained how many hours of training he needed, and that every year the entire set up is carefully inspected, trees with lines attached are adjusted as they grow to even prevent tree damage. The young girl who was very much afraid was given so much careful attention by the trainer that after several tearful moments she scooted on. After that she was smiling and laughing all the way for the next 5 trips across the trees.||The best for last. The wild river raft.||I didn't know what I was doing when I signed up for the EXTRA WILD ride option. Anyway it was my son and I with one guide in the raft. We had the craziest wild rapids and I mean wild. It was like something I'd see in a movie. We went down WATERFALLS and redid it a second time. Don't skip that ride. If any I would say do this if you can only do 1. ||The company deserves a 10 out of 10. Don't miss it. See what a professional organization can do to may an adventure...
