I am one that DOESNâT normally write a review. However I feel the need to due to how TERRIBLY we were treated right after checking inâŠ.||||We were pleasantly surprised that we had a full hook-up site. With that, all the gravel was just laid this summer and not compacted. My husband was backing in, with my 37-foot motorhome, and our back tires sunk in!!!! Yes, sunk in. We were stuckâŠ.couldnât go forward or backwards. ||||My sister and I went to the store to speak to the manager/owner. She was RUDE, asked why, explained it to her, and told me she couldnât get manager/owner til the maintenance guy checked it outâŠ.ok, fine. Iâm guessing the girl that was rude is a family member.||||About 10 minutes later, the maintenance guy showed up with another guy and security. A wonderful weekender used his truck and pulled us out. He took ZERO accountability for how terribly the gravel was laid and stated, âHe must not know how to drive. We have had bigger rigs on this site.â He did nothing except continually blaming my husband. My husband knows how to drive. My sister also got stuck, next to us, but theirs was more compacted. This whole situation took 2 or so hours to complete to get set up, with thanks for starting my vacation on a bad note with his egotistical, negative, nasty attitude.||||This maintenance guy asked my family their name. They shared it. He REFUSED to share his name BECAUSE he was way out of line..We named him âBruceâ. In the hospitality industry, the customer is always right what are you agree or disagree. He just wanted to play the blame game.||||My family was not liking the fact that he would not share his name. He then told us we had two minutes, and if we didnât drop it, we would be kicked out. First of all, we have been drinking so you canât kick us out at that moment. If you did thatâs a liability on the campground. All over us wanting to know what his name was, was his response reasonable? We all know the answer to that. By the way, he was zero help.||||My husband had spoken to some seasonals, stated that our rig was the biggest rig that had been on that site which was contrary to what âBruceâ said. Several seasonals also stated that he is a nasty jerk. He is a nasty individual. After talking to more people, he is married to one of the owners. Is that the type of person you want representing your campground? Especially in a day and age of social media?||||Since it was our fault, no compensation for the headaches etc that we encountered. This was our first and last time at this campground. All the weekenders and seasonals were wonderful. We still made the best out of our trip, but you need caring people in the hospitality industry.||||Last night, we got the volcanic nachos down at the arcade room. The bartender messed up ours, we wanted jalapeños and salsa on the side, so I let her know. She willingly made us another one. We didnât realize the jalapeños and salsa were in it till we started eating it. She took the one that we were eating off of and we watched her give it to another customer. That is disgusting! We also got the pizza which was not very good for all the raves that you talk about on social media.||||All in all, we made the most of all the negative situation. To thrive, you want positive people that are willing to...
Read moreOur experience overall was ok. It wasnât horrible, but it wasnât over the top great either. We stayed on a Sunday - Wednesday, so it wasnât busy, which is what we were going for. Pros: As tent campers, we very much appreciated the update, clean bathroom super close to our site. The gentleman running the chippy express was soooo fun! I donât remember his name, but he mentioned he was a retired police officer, and you could tell he truly enjoyed what he was doing. The woman running the fancy coffee shop was super nice and truly enjoyed engaging in some conversation. The kids loved the beach area, and I appreciated how clean it was. The Wibit was a ton of fun for them. The proximity of the playgrounds to our campsite was a bonus too Cons: Quiet time is clearly not enforced as our first night was miserable. We had an obnoxiously rude group behind us (also tenting). They BLARED very obscene music until at least 2 am; they were clearly drunk and beligerent. They also brought a dog who would panic and bark like crazy every time one of them drunkenly shouted something out. If they hadnât left the next day, we probably would have left then. When we mentioned something about it the next morning inside the store, all we got was an âOh wow!â Itâs super annoying nothing is listed about coin operated showers. So, since we didnât have cash, we had to pay an ATM fee to get cash, and then use the change machine in the arcade. Speaking of the arcade, itâs not one. If youâre banking on it on a bad weather day, donât. The mini-golf area was ok. Kids had fun, but it was expensive for such a small, kinda run down course. The pool/waterpark area was freezing. I did appreciate that the pool area was kept clean! No gross bandaids in the water or garbage laying around. I did not appreciate the amount of people vaping in the pool area. Overall, my two biggest gripes were:
The campground itself serves as a great place for kids of all ages and provides activities throughout the day to keep everyone active. However, we had an extremely negative encounter with the owner, Jim, that will make us reconsider ever returning to this campground again. We had heard he's extremely confrontational from other campers and witnessed this second hand when he screamed out another campsite during a previous visit then experienced this first hand during our most recent stay. It was truly a turn off and severely lacked professionalism.
To set a back drop, we had rented a golf cart for the week of our stay and during a Wednesday night, we took it down our road (which was completely empty at the time of other campers) and a passenger caught a football in the cart 4-5 times. We made sure no one was around and did not by any means endanger anyone. The onsite security personal arrived with the owner Jim. The security guy nicely asked us to stop and we kindly obliged saying, "It's all good we are done for the night." Jim then emerged from his cart, chest puffed out yelling with his hands up, "No, no it's not all good" and started to yell as if we were 5 yr olds being scolded. Another member in our group then reminded him and said we were done (in a nice tone) but Jim literally said, "No, are you going to listen to my spiel, threatened us to call the sheriffs to issue us a disorderly conduct ticket, then put his golf cart in reverse so it made that obnoxious noise while he went and checked on "his" golf cart that we rented from the campground. When I asked if he would mind taking it out of reverse because our kids just went down (2 and 3 that go down at 8), he replied with "no, not while I check on 'my' golf cart." He then had to point out he was the owner, which we knew and didn't even need to be stated since we agreed to halt all activities by saying, "even though I may not be dressed like it, I own this place." Not really expecting a campground owner to roll up in a tux. It was clear he wanted to escalate the issue so he could continue to holler at us, call in for reinforcements, or send us home. We were not obnoxious during any part of our stay, always in bed by 10, and pretty low key minus catching a pass with a football in a golf cart (which we agreed to stop immediately once they arrived). At the end, I again tried to be the bigger person and said, "Have a great night." To which he replied with, "Yup, we will see how it goes" in a very cocky tone. Clearly he likes to walk around flexing his "ownership.â I really wish we would have recorded him going off so others could view just how truly rude he was during this exchange.
I do want to point out the gentleman who drives Chippy was fantastic. He would let others in our group know when we were about to board so they were ready with a camera. He would then stop in front of campsites for pictures and slow down for our young ones to dish out fives. He was always friendly while making his nightly...
