Supper club review: (RUDE BARTENDER 2.5⭐️ on the bartender!)
The supper club deserves a 5⭐️
We’ve been here a few times as we have family that lives nearby. You need to know that you sign in at the bar and are given a number, then the hostess/server takes your order at the bar, & finds you when your table is ready. The nice part about that is you’re not dining with the loud noise in the bar room (there are doors that separate the dining room from the bar area). The salad bar is great, you can literally fill up on that before your meal. They also have turkey gizzards if that’s your thing, lots of choices and an Oreo fluff (like dirt cake) on the salad bar. While we’ve had fish fry’s and steak dinners, we’ve yet to get a pizza (next time!). This part visit is what prompted me to finally write a review. Our fish fry’s were great, steaks were amazing except the medium rare came out rare & the medium was medium rare.
The owners are extremely friendly, but there is an older gentleman who bartends, who seems very rude, but I think he’s trying to be “funny” in a sarcastic way. I didn’t think he was funny when he made me feel like I was stupid for having read an item wrong on the menu, & this was at the bar where it was full, so everyone nearby heard him and he had an exasperated look on his face (like he’s dealing with an idiot). I turned and said to the lady next to me “he sure is rude” & she said “you get used to it”! Seriously?? If I had a bartender that patrons “got used to it” I’d get someone friendlier to replace him! We all noticed it and we had a party of 8 that night. We avoided him when ordering and had a very pleasant female bartender...
Read moreI have had to make a few extended trips to the area over the last six months to remodel a cabin. We have stayed at four or five places, but have found this to be a very comfortable place to stay. The rooms are nice...wooden plank walls and ceilings, llaid out well, with a nice, large bathroom separating the two beds for more privacy if you are sharing. Also very clean, bathrooms spotless. Small kitchenette, microwave, stove, fridge, coffeemaker (bring own coffee and filters), and a/c unit. Pretty basic as far as dishes and utensils, furnishings, but necessities are definitely there. You may want to bring paper plates and cups, additional utensils, to stretch what they have if you plan on doing a lot of your own food prep. Rooms also have grills and picnic tables - bring charcoal and lighter fluid. (We mostly ate at the restaurant and bar, good food and nice they have healthy meals with salad bar. Bar food, pizzas, sandwiches too.). Keith the owner and his wife are fantastic, very hands-on (they live and work on property) and are very helpful. Also want to add they have a fire pit with plenty of split wood that guests are able to take advantage of....
Read moreI made the assumption that a restaurant would make food.. silly me. We got to the restaurant at 6:30pm on a Saturday and struggled to get some menus from the bar - once we got the bartender’s attention, he was annoyed he had to explain the ordering system multiple times (FYI, if you have to explain something multiple times, it probably doesn’t make sense). He was a real treat. After that, we were told that we could order at the bar, but not from the bartenders who actually work at the bar. At some point a waitress should come over and take the order. Once she made it over, after a ~15min wait, we started ordering and was interrupted with, “are you guys just going to order burgers and sandwiches? The cook isn’t going to want to make that.” In summary, they didn’t want to take a food order after we followed their instructions. Absolute incompetence and a waste of our time. Sad, since we’ve been going here for decades at this point. Lost business for sure. Edit after owner response: no mention of refusing to take food orders at dinner time.....
