SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY - FIND A DIFFERENT CAMPGROUND!! My wife and kids camp at least ever other weekend. Over the 4th of July holiday weekend we decided to go away from out normal list of favorite sites and try a campground we have never been to. Choosing Lakeview was a HUGE mistake. We view this as our mistake as we should have noticed that 80% of their most recent reviews are 1 star reviews. We booked this past weekend over the phone, paid for 100% of it upfront and were told we were going to have a 'grassy sunny site'. When we found the most important areas of our site were mud/dirt. The first evening we tried to make it work though our chairs were tipping over because they were sinking in around the fire pit area, and our camper was getting muddy. However, after it poured the first night, we woke up to standing water over mud outside our camper and there was no way we could even get out of our camper without sinking in mud. There was absolutely no way with 4 kids (one being an infant) this was going to work. Fortunately (or so we thought), over half the camp sites were vacant, so we thought moving to a different site would be easily possible. We looked through the open sites and found one that we liked. My wife went down to the office to inform them our campsite was under water and asked if we could move to this other site. They informed her that we could only move to one other site, and they gave her the number of the site. We went to go look at this other site and this one too had standing water over mud in the exact area where our door on our camper would be and also had mud surrounding the fire pit. I went back down to the office and informed them that over half of their campsites were open and asked why we could not have a campsite that was not under water. They told me they were all booked (which I knew was not true because they gave my wife a completely different answer). I have attached a picture of the mostly empty campsite right before we left. We informed the office we would have to go home if we could not get a site that was not underwater. They did not care... at all. I informed them we booked a site that was advertised as a grassy location and they should have informed us the site was mostly dirt in the main areas. They could care less about their inaccurate discussions. I asked if I could get a refund for the nights we were not saying since much of our site was literally underwater with much of it being complete mud, they said no. I informed them I would be leaving a one star review and the guy in the office stated, "I have absolutely no doubt you will" - Didn't seem to care about that either. Lakeview, you stole our money this time, but you will never get it from us or anyone we know ever again. ALSO - This was not a matter of them not being able to control the weather because it rained. This was booking a site they stated was grassy, when it was mud.... This was a campsite that was UNDER WATER and they REFUSED to allow us to move even though OVER HALF of their camp sites were EMPTY!

We have stayed here before with no issues. Unfortunately this weekend that changed.. 2 other campers in our group also had poor experiences, but they can share their stories. It all started when we went to check in. The lady at the front desk came downstairs and told us she had been fighting with her husband and was very rude from the start of our interaction. She was very confused about where our site was, even after we explained our group situation and the sites we had booked online. We got that situated and she sent us on our way. We got right to before our site and it looked like there was fresh gravel. There was fresh gravel. However, she failed to mention that there was a broken tile under that fresh gravel. We buried our truck up to its frame before we even had a chance to stop. Thankfully, we were able to back out of it, but it very easily could have caused significant damage to our truck. We went up to the office to let them know and the lady had the audacity to say "that is not our problem". It is your campground, it is your problem. Only after we mentioned that it was a sink hole, did the man come out and put out cones. I am very disappointed in the customer service, or lack there of, and the overall poor attitude of Carol from start to finish.

Overall had a pretty nice relaxing stay. Loved that it was very dog friendly. The view/sunset of lake winnebago was very nice. The pool area was very clean but we were disappointed that the so called heated pool was still way too cold to actually enjoy. The playground was nice for the kids. Our dogs loved the dog run area. We did encounter multiple dogs off leash or with leashes on but running free next to the owners. We had site 50 with our 29 foot travel trailer and although it worked it was very weedy, and the fire pit was a little closer to our camper then we would have preferred. We did however like the location being so close to everything. The site had a lot of potential but it was just ok overall. Our pizza and food from the restaurant Saturday night were disappointing. The pizza was barely cooked on top, and the chicken strips were extremely over cooked. The BLT was good. I had the BBQ and it was good but i did get a very fatty piece which is a huge turnoff for me. The grounds did seem to be well taken care of and the initial drive in from the road is stunning. This place has a ton of potential! We overall had a nice stay and would consider staying a weekend again when we want a very low key weekend.

First off there are new owners starting the 2018 season from Texas.

Thought as a former long time seasonal that was chased away by Carol along with a large amount of other seasonals that pulled out and left or are trying to sell after 1 year of her....you should hear from the other point of view. I will tell you that most of negative feedback you see is pretty much the truth. Yes some of these reviews are positive ones posted by a person who stayed 1 weekend there who had a good experience. 50/50 chance at that happening. Then there are the other times. There's a reason 20+ long time seasonals have left or are trying to sell. There's a reason she couldn't keep a full time staff hired all season. There's a reason her maintenance guy quit only a few weeks into the season. There's a reason her 1 and only volunteer seasonal quit. There's a reason there were no kids weekend activities or movies for a good portion of the season. There's a reason there was no "seasonal appreciation" weekend like the former owners put on with a corn roast and like other campgrounds do.

Trust me, the last thing I wanted to do was leave after 8 years there. But with Carol's treatment of customers as well as employees, of which my wife was one and ended up quitting because of, we felt unwelcome. She on more than 1 occasion would say how rude Wisconsin people are, even so much as to go and post similar things on her personal Facebook page. Most times these posts would be right after an issue or argument with a paying customer or a seasonal. She would blame her employees in front of a customer for her errors, see a other reviews as well on that.

Communication regarding events or issues is poor. Believes everything from weekend activities, if any, to announcing a winner on a raffle drawing should be done through Facebook. Doesn't believe in email. Would also tell a person that had a question that she would not address it at that time and they needed to call back on a specific day when she dealt with that particular concern.

They put in 4 cabins to "upgrade" the place. Keep in mind no heat or ac in them. Also no water or bathroom. So what are you to do after grilling out on the grill provided and have no water to clean dishes up with? Also don't forget your bed linens as those are not provided. Bring your own or rent them from her.

Then there was the new contract for next year that saw anywhere from an 18% to 25% rate increase dependent on how you paid along with so many stipulations that nobody should sign their name to.

Campground rules...sure...Electric carts only and 16 years of age to drive...yup...many a time YOUNG KIDS CAN BE SEEN DRIVING and on a few occasions weekenders running around on gas powered UTVs.

So much more but I just don't want to waste anymore effort on her or that place.

Recently asked her to remove a photo from their Facebook page of some children that are a friend of ours and was met with name calling and a response that made zero sense. Told me she was glad we were gone. Hey, not her 1st rodeo right?

Yes great sunset views. Yes they HAD a great chef...shout out to DJ my friend, well done in the kitchen, but sadly he also has quit, meaning EVERY employee she hired in 2018 has quit. Nice location. But the bad Carol more times than not was just to much. Not saying don't go there, but don't be surprised if you have a...

The campground itself is not bad. We enjoyed our time at the pool and there were many activities on site. That being said, the owner of this campground severely lacks in customer service.

The main reason for my poor rating revolves around their App in regards to ordering food and around overall customer service. We were directed immediately at Check In to utilize their Mobile App for ordering food, wood, etc. Friday night we ordered fish through the App and about 45 minutes after the "delivery" time came and went we went to the bar to see what the status was. The response we got was "what order??". When we told them we placed order on the app they said they are very busy and would get it to us as soon as they could. The fish was then delivered to our site about 30 minutes later.

The following day my husband went to the camp store to get a bag of ice. While he waited in line he was rudely asked to "Move your camper! You are blocking all of the traffic!" My husband walked to the store from our cabin- no camper, no vehicle to block traffic. When he stated such and that he was just there for ice she then rudely stated "Well then get in line for the register!".

That evening, we again took a chance to order pizza on the app, hoping the day prior was just a mistake. We were wrong. We ordered a pizza which the app stated delivery time must be 45 minutes after order time- so we did so. When an hour and a half went by with no pizza- my husband again went up to see what was going on. Again, he was asked "What order??" As my husband told the owner that this is now the 2nd night where we did not get our order she proceeded to tell my husband how busy she is, how her husband does not help her, and boldly asked my husband "Where do you work?!". My husband said, I am trying to give you constructive feedback that your app is failing you. After some back and forth about the app and order status my husband was told the kitchen would be closing soon- to which he said, I ordered a pizza over an hour and a half ago when your kitchen was fully open- I expect a pizza. More drama, huffing and puffing from the owner- and we finally get our barely cooked, not what we ordered pizza.

Mind you- we packed food for the entire weekend- we fully intended to cook all our own meals-- but when you market your bar and grill, we took you up on the offer, only to be severely let down on your customer service.

Our cabin was also not clean. My children found a shirt next to the bunk bed that did not belong to us. As I was making the bed I found 2 old cups with rotten oatmeal in them from a previous stay. I'm not expecting hotel room standards between guests, but at least check to make sure there isn't anything laying around.

I read many negative reviews the week leading up to our stay and hoped they were just folks who enjoy complaining-unfortunately that wasn't the case. Keep your money and find a...
