I was hesitant about this place due to many negative reviews but I had a positive experience. FACILITY-walking in, beautiful open front foyer. Beautifullly decorated for the holidays.Everywhere was clean. Beautful grounds. Plenty of free parking. You do need more trash cans throughout property. CHECK IN- Nice and quick. Room was ready. Ahmir and Sharonda were pleasant, friendly and professional. Made checking in a breeze and answered my questions. ROOM- great room, plenty of space and super clean. Bed was comfy. Walls are not sound proof and when the baby woke up crying a 6am next to us, ALL of us woke up. ARCADE- lots of games to choose from. Devina was a sweetheart and helped get my daughter settled into the 4D ride. Jessica was awesome as well and checked us out for prizes. Mechanic man (sorry I didn't get name) was awesome as well. All friendly and professional. Tommy was nice too at rock climbing area. We got tons of donut squishies from claw machines. WATERPARK- nice, clean but very small. They provide towels. Most rides were open and they had plenty of lifeguards/ workers around. I will say it is best for under age 12 and definitely a good choice for parents with very young kids who do NOT need much thrills but just want a nice small getaway to go with kids. Please add and adults only hot tub or a swim up bar. Flow Rider ride workers were patient and have fun showing people how to surf their wave ride. GIFT SHOP- nice selection of bathing suits and need different selection of kart rite ornaments. Please get Captain Quakkken t- shirts, the hoodies are cute but my child wanted a t-shirt version. LA AMERICANA/ kids center area- decorated very well. Decorated 1 ornament for $5 and opened only until 8pm( too early!). Activity sheets to color here. Please add more activities. I LOVE to spend money on kids stuff for my kid, but there wasn't much to offer. BIXBYS- Yes, the wait was awful. Clearly short staffed. However, food came out quick and was really good!! Cotton candy milkshake yummy. Onion soup delicious. Waitress was nice but overwhelmed. I am not going to complain further since we knew what we were walking into going off reviews and can clearly see staff still wait on people and clean tables. All while still smiling. POP Sweet SHOP- yummy ice cream. Need more cake / pastries options. Add cute Duck themed items to showcase your mascot, caramel items, homemade chocolates and make patrons spend more please!! HIGHLINE CAFE- it has coffees, bagel, morning pastries, hard selzers, candy, fruit cups, uncrustables and more.. they need to stay open late, 2pm is crazy, I need coffee in the evening. Maybe pull one of the Waterpark kids to work the cafe as you would make way more money staying open late selling more groceries items, speciality coffees, microwave foods, ect. They sell alcohol /selzer cans here too which I found at at 11am, I could of bought several of them previous night if they were only open. AREA- the town itself around property is secluded and runned down but this property and grounds is beautful. Not much near by. Wendys is close though. OVERALL- We were satisfied with our visit. Everyone I encountered was professional and friendly. Food was delicious. Waterpark was cute and small and perfect for families with very small children. -It is definitely not Kalahari nor Great Wolf, but if your looking for a nice little getaway night, sure it will work. If you have bigger kids, I'd suggest another brand might work better. Side note,Captain Quakken did not follow the hourly schedule for pictures and I made sure they to got him out before I left with a disappointed kid, thank you Ahmir and Tracy. SUGGESTIONS- Kart Rite, take notes please. Beautful property with potential. Expand your Waterpark. Make a huge outdoor playscape area.Have coffee shop expand more items and close late. Plan more daily activities . Make people want to stay on your property and not drive out for things. Definitely add more kid activities/crafts and people like me will spend the money, even if I...
Read moreLike others, I really wanted to love this place, but my husband & I left disappointed. Kartrite’s online marketing makes it seem like an upscale resort. That, combined with its Disney-level pricing, I expected a high-quality experience.
Check-in Issues: We weren’t given wristbands at check-in, so when we tried to enter the water park, we had to run back upstairs, wait in line again, and explain the situation. A minor issue, but it foreshadowed what was to come the rest of the trip.
Staff & Service: Many employees moved at a painfully slow pace with no urgency. Morale seemed low and we saw multiple staff working very long hours. Our breakfast waitress was the same one who served us at a late dinner—friendly, but clearly overworked.
Dining Frustrations: Dinner options were very limited, with 1.5 hour wait for a family of 4. The restaurant was severely understaffed, and the bartender was juggling both waiting guests and table service. People were sitting around, ready to spend money, yet service was painfully slow. I saw guests carry in McDonald's as a solution - No doubt, that was a faster and easier off-site option than dealing with the on-site options. The breakfast buffet was super underwhelming—comparable to a free hotel continental breakfast, but cost more than $100 for a family of 4. The only daytime food option was a "quick service" inside the water park, leading to one massive line and a confusing self-ordering system with no staff guiding guests.
Arcade & Activities Issues: The arcade was another frustration. Few staff were available, and guests were left to figure out details on their own. Every credit machine we tried (4/4) was broken—yet still powered on. Once you figured out the machines weren't working, you had to wait in another long line with staff to get credits. Kartrite gift cards don’t work for the arcade or activities - frustrating as there’s not much else to do on-site outside of the water park.
Payment, Billing & Tech Issues: Using a gift card was unnecessarily complicated. Only the concierge knew how to apply it, and while doing so, they noticed we had been double-charged for breakfast but said, “someone would have caught it.” Given the disorganization, that wasn’t very reassuring. After returning home, I had a billing question and emailed the noted address on my invoice, only to receive an auto-reply that the inbox was no longer monitored. We were also sent a text for a quick online check-out, but the site errored multiple times. Seems like the tech is not up to par.
Inconsistent Policies & Staff Confusion: On night two, we went to the same restaurant as the night before and were told they couldn’t text us when our table was ready—even though we received a text the night before. When I mentioned this, the hostess seemed unaware and pushed back on my suggestion. This was a recurring theme—staff seemed confused, constantly checking with others for answers and not having clear direction.
Resort Amenities Lacking: On night one, we got birthday cake ice cream at the on-site shop (multiple flavors were out that first night, but this was a solid pick). On night two, we returned soon after they opened to find only two tubs of ice cream left—both strawberry flavor (clearly what was left from the evening prior). No explanation, no urgency to restock, and the staff member acted like this was normal. Not a huge deal, but at a resort where guests are staying on property, it felt off.
The Few Positives: Lifeguards were excellent, constantly monitoring the water. Lazy river & outdoor hot tub were neat experiences. Wave rider bodyboarding was a highlight, though the wait was 1.5+ hours.
Final Thoughts: I don’t typically leave negative reviews (and I’m not overly picky—I used to work in hotels!), but the number of issues we encountered needs to be shared. If Kartrite doesn’t make serious improvements, I wouldn’t be surprised if it struggles to stay in business. Luckily, my kids still had fun—but as a paying parent who traveled 5.5 hrs to check this place out, it was an...
Read moreWe have been coming here for the last several years, and we decided to invite my family 8/22/24-8/24/24. We got 3 rooms for 2 nights for 11 people. We requested a early check in and a late check out. We asked to check in around 12 and none of the rooms were ready and they will text us when the rooms were ready at 4. We all went to the waterpark. We headed back up before 4 with no one ever texting us and had to wait on a long line with only two front desk clerks. We were told that only 1 room was ready. They said the supervisor had to inspect the room. Got our second room key at 445 and headed up to the room. The room was totally unacceptable.... the room vents in the ceiling were all dusty all around the ceiling, the balcony door did not lock, we had small children with us and that's a safety issue, no bathroom garbage and stained bath towels. We were up all night coughing and throat irritated. We asked the maintenance guy Ernest the next day if they had anything long duster or vacuum and showed him all the things that we were experiencing and he said his apologies. He said he will let them know. Ernest was very helpful and sincere. The front desk were aware and said their apologies were very helpful and accommodated us which was very thoughtful.
The restaurant Eat and Eats I have to say was the worst service of all. The hostess Cindy was very nasty and giving us a hard time like it was our fault. Getting loud and said another 30 mins and walked away. Cindy has no people skills and should not be working with customer service. Cindy did not want to talk to the rest of the adults and starting asking the kids about the timing of the reservations. Who does that? Acts like a child and should not be in the hospitality business because of her mannerisms. She would be the one that will help this business fail. Made reservations @ 745 and didn't get to eat till 930. The kids were all upset because everything closed at 10pm. Lisa the waitress was very pleasant and made things so much more pleasant. We remembered her last year and was so thankful for her waiting on us. She will be the success for this business because of her compassion for others, her ora and her experience in this industry.
The arcade employees and manager had an attitude and give customers a hard time when they make mistakes. There was no availability at the zipline that was already paid for. Was told to be there at 1230 but then employee went on break at 1. But there were 3 employees and a manger standing all around the registers doing nothing. My brother bought a game card for 75 for his daughter and went to use it and had no funds. The guy gave the wrong card back to him and gave him an attitude for his mistake. Many of of us swiped game cards in the arcade and the bowling/air hockey and it didnt register but come to find out it did deduct the funds. Like wth is wrong with these people. Have no communication skills working with the public. Don't they realize that we are the reason that they still have a job and have a paycheck at the end of the week.
Water-Park over all staff was very pleasant and helpful. Fast Food Area and Bar upstairs were very professional fast attentive service. The hotel should have training from them to make it more successful and enjoyable stay.
Moat of the food quality was good and the waterpark and grounds is beautiful but some of the staff really makes it unpleasant.
There was this one girl lifeguard that was constantly yelling at all the kids for no reason.
The last day of check out the house keeper asked if we were leaving yet at 1053am. Like what ... Its not 11:00 yet how about we should get another 45 mins for a later check out that was what we ask for to begin with.
This place is becoming a joke for the amount of money and we arw not sure we will be returning and the other two rooms were not pleased at all. If you would like I can provide pictures of some of the employees that were very disrespectful during our stay.
I would like the general manager of the resort to respond to this...
