😊: Breakfast did not exist. I knew this before I made my reservations. Thus, I prepared for this. I brought a bag of bagels and some granola bars. Plus somthing to drink. This suited me fine. The room, while dated, was clean and well kept. The bed was neat and the blankets and sheets were very clean. The staff were very good to talk to and very helpful in answering any question that I had. I'm not very technically inclined and one staff member came to my room to help me on one occasion. I will gladly stay there again. The rural setting of the Sunrise Motel is very nice. It has a very substantial lawn. It is very quiet and not much traffic. The walk I took was along the local road with very little traffic and very enjoyable for a country walk, which I do not often get a chance to take.. 😢: To be honest I can not think of any major issues. Oh yes. I thought of one. The door locks have been well used and on the door of this room, were wearing down. For over 25 years I often had to travel for my job. I have stayed at much inferior places. My opinion is that this motel has suffered from the Covid 19 pandemic shut down and will recover. This is a good place to stay. What I did not care for was the comment by a previous guest that the shower was spilling over the side because the curtain did not close properly. This person could easily have moved the nozzle of the shower and pointed it a bit toward the rear of the shower stall. Problem solved. I tried this and it worked....
Read moreStayed here one night, and Red Carpet Inn in Horseheads the night before. Both were supposed to be inexpensive. Comparable rooms. The woman at Sunrise gave me a fair amount of attitude, a surprising amount. She charged me an extra $10 for the dog, which is OK I guess, then threatened to charge me another $50 if I didn't clean up after the dog. She told me not to make too much noise, and in general just gave attitude. The inexpensive room turned into nearly $80 after she finished upcharging me for all the fees etc. For $80, I can find a nicer, cleaner room without the attitude. Paint falling off in bathroom and door, older room that hasn't been updated in a very long time, sheets bit on the threadbare side, stained carpets. We don't have high expectations for the room, I wouldn't have bothered with the review if it hadn't been for the attitude. Motel 6 doesn't charge extra for dogs and has nicer rooms for the same or less cost--and hospitality. I woulda driven farther for the Red Carpet--cheaper similar, maybe slightly nicer room,...
Read moreIt pains me to have to write this review. I prefer to focus on the positive aspects of my experiences. But this place has some major issues.
Let's start with the positives: the family that owns this place was very warm and welcoming. The sheets and pillow cases were clean. Check-in and check-out was easy.
Unfortunately, there were also some glaring issues. Our room smelled strongly of mold and mildew. The air conditioner would periodically make a loud banging sound which made it hard to sleep. The chairs in the room had dust and dead bugs accumulating between the cushions. The bathroom had an ant colony living in the sink. Another room at the property had a broken window. Lastly the vending/ice machine room was tough. All the snacks packets in the vending machine were empty, with small holes where rodents had decided to help themselves. The owners have apparently been using that room to store unwanted...
