Kingswood is a real NY gem, especially for families and groups of families. My family (2 parents, 2 kids, ages 3 and 4) have been coming with other family friends for the past 3 years. For NYC-based families, it's about a 3-hour drive, and Kingswood provides almost all the camping gear you'll need for a comfortable stay - dishes, stove, tent with 6 beds, campfire ring and wood, cooler and ice, shelter, table, and chairs. Just come with your sleeping bags, flashlights, food & swim suits! During our visit, we swam every afternoon, hiked on the hiking trails, made tie-dye shirts, and used kayaks and row boats. Wildlife is very accessible, with a range of trails. My kids loved spotting the bright orange salamanders, which are thriving in the woods and pond. We also saw many birds, frogs, and even the beaver! Kingswood is extremely well cared for, with many low-waste, beautiful hand-made features around the grounds. My kids enjoyed the play ground and sand box by the swimming area. When it rained, we had hours of things to enjoy at the double-level barn - basketball, bad mitten, corn hole, tons of board games and art supplies. For dinners, the sites are large for 3 or 4 families to cook and enjoy a campfire ring together. We highly recommend Kingswood, and plan to return as our...
Read moreOver the years, I’ve known that the staff members have been lying and spreading rumors about me, so I tried to ignore it but that was too difficult. They have some type of twisted view of me and seem to like to put me down to make themselves feel better. I chose to never go back to this camp because the negativity of staff and other campers toward ME was out of line and unfair. They lost money because they didn’t treat me fairly despite their lies. The camp favors certain people over others because they are judgmental. They don’t know the meaning of equality. Do the geese still poop all over the beach every spring? Do they still have to clean up all the poop before campers arrive? SO GROSS! There is very limited privacy also. Don’t expect it to...
Read moreI have been taking my family to this location for years. Kingswood is an extremely unique camping experience built for people with limited gear and background. There is a large dry tent with six beds and mattresses already setup at each site. Also, all sites have potable water and a dining shelter with cooking utensils etc. The camp itself is gorgeous with 700+ acres of hiking, a pond with boats and swim area, and a large barn with a small reading area, ice cream, etc. At only 2.5 hours from NYC this is a great place to check out for those looking to camp in a great safe location with...
