Blue Highway Lodge — Hotel in Town of Union

Cozy winter get-away...We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin! We were happy to find a Wisconsin cabin open during the winter holiday season. The 6 cabins, guest house and pavilion are located on beautiful, wooded grounds with hiking trails and farm animals. It's obvious that the owners, Nate and Kari, take great care of, and pride in their property. The cabin itself is like a nice hotel room for two, but with lots of character (and extras). The place was spotlessly clean. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and the 2-person hot tub was very relaxing. The fireplace warmed the whole cabin and looked like a real fire, providing a warm atmosphere. I love the way they thought of everything to keep their guests comfortable. From the extra bathmats and space heater for the bathroom floor to the nightlight in the bathroom and a handy rechargeable flashlight, we had everything we needed. Having a small kitchen table was great. The kitchen area has a sink and a few real dishes to use. The water (from a well) was very cold and drinkable. There is a 2-cup coffee pot, so if you're a big coffee person, you might want to bring your own large pot. We were able to use the Wi-Fi to do things over our smart phones. I love the way the Wi-Fi password is prominently displayed in the cabin. Don't come there expecting to watch TV (this is a get-away, after all), but the owners have provided a DVD player and a large selection of movies to borrow. (We brought a handful of our favorite movies on DVD). We loved the enclosed back porch. We cooked on the outdoor gas grill and made a nice fire in the fire pit on a still, cold, clear winter night with lots of stars out. The property is located a short drive from the town and was easy to get to. I highly recommend the cabins for a couples get-away, but this place would be an awesome place for groups to gather, utilizing the pavilion that has party lights, professional grills, refrigeration, tables for seating, and a few outdoor games. My girlfriend and I have been wanting to take a motorcycle trip here for a while now and we finally made it happen! Little did she know, I had a surprise waiting for her when we arrived. About a month prior, I contacted Karri and told her I planned to propose to my girlfriend this weekend. Not knowing what to expect, I asked if there was anything they would be willing to do to help accommodate this, as we live three hours away. The response I got from Karri was absolutely amazing! It’s still hard to put into words how appreciative and grateful I am for everything she did to make our trip perfect! I was in contact with Karri until our arrival and she had the cabin set up perfect! I was able to ship decorations straight to the lodge and Karri went out of her way to have fresh local flowers delivered and even got a bottle of champagne for me! The property and surrounding area is gorgeous and the cabins were just as amazing! They thought of everything possible from boot warmers, to clean rags for wiping down the bikes, and everything in between you need for a weekend getaway! We were going with our friends when their son 4 days before the trip was hit and killed in a motorcycle accident. He has pregnant wife and we called to cancel and asked if we could get a credit to use in the future or pay half of reservation. They denied to work with us AT ALL and charged us full price. Even though the funeral is scheduled during the supposed stay. There was zero consideration for the trama and need to reschedule which we were willing to do. They were only fixated on making money not the people. Horrible. I understand cancellation policy but no policy 100% perfect. We and our friends will never go again.

Update in response to the owners we did not ask for a full refund or nothing. We asked to reschedule and the “small business” keep the money. They refused and said use it or loose it. We wanted to work with them not be given a free pass. They were horrible to deal with. Also we were NOT part of a group that went. We have NEVER MET THOSE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES.
