I had driven by a million times and never stopped. We had a wonderful experience with delicious food. The wait staff was courteous in such a refreshing way. I haven't experienced that type of kindness in a restaurant in a long time. They made you feel like you were special in a special place. It has an old style feel which was very nice and relaxing; wall paper, chandeliers, candle lite, curtains on the windows. Everything we got was so delicious. It was just my wife and I. We got shrimp cocktail and escargot to start. Both were excellent. The cocktail had four pieces of spiced shrimp served cold with cocktail sauce and a few pieces of lump crab. Escargot was also delicious, served in a butter garlic with a lemon slice and 2 pieces of a garlic type bread. It was thin and crispy but chewy on the inside. It was excellent with the escargot. My wife got the lobster risotto which she loved. The asparagus was crispy and cut into bite sized pieces, the lobster was claw meat and there were several claws worth of meat. I got the seafood pasta and was very pleased with my choice. The handmade pasta was very thin and the spicy red sauce was a mild but tasty level of spice. Plenty of calamari, a huge shrimp, plump and flavorful mussels, and bite size pieces of salmon and a white fish that I couldn't identify. All of it was excellent and the sauce was delicious. We brought my mother home some crab cakes for watching the dogs and they were also very good. Tender with lump crab and a side of delicious fingerling potatoes. We had such a wonderful time. The flavor of everything was beyond our expectations and the ambience was so unexpectedly pleasant. We had some Moscow mules and wine, the cocktails and wine were excellent as well. It is worth a stop, we will be back. We couldn't stop staying how wonderful it was on...
Read moreWe chose the Pleasant Valley Inn as base camp for our family getaway to the Finger Lakes based on a nice write up that they had received in a travel blog. We weren't disappointed with our choice! ||||It's a cute pink house, located just a couple of miles outside of downtown Hammondsport, NY and close to Keuka Lake and all of its vineyards. It's also just a few hundred yards from a trail-head for the Finger Lakes Trail if you wanted to add hiking to a wine-weekend).||||The rooms were a good size, very comfortable queen-sized beds and had a good strong shower. There is a cute porch with a row of rocking chairs. ||||What really made this stay special however was the food and hospitality. There is a fabulous restaurant and pub which are really the main business of the Inn. We chose to have dinner in the Pub over the restaurant as we preferred the casual setting, however you are able to order from either menu which we did. Service was warm, gracious and helpful and the food was really excellent! ||||Each morning, we enjoyed breakfast, hosted by the Bill, the owner of the Inn. Bill's sense of hospitality was tremendous and the spread for breakfast each day was impressive. All items were prepared in house daily. Fresh-squeezed OJ, house-made granola on the yogurt parfaits, muffins and hand-rolled and boiled bagels still warm from the oven. Every item, each morning was impressive. Even the scrambled eggs were over the top wonderful. ||||This would surely be our place to stay for a return trip...
Read moreA group of four we stayed at the bed and breakfast for a three day weekend to celebrate a special birthday. We had a sisters only weekend. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A nice added touch is home made chocolate chip cookies in a jar in each room. The breakfast included with staying at the inn were top notch. The fresh squeezed orange juice was out of this world. The fruit parfait fantastic, we also had Belgian waffles. Breakfast was always piping hot. Coffee and Tea as well. Kammi the inn keeper also provided a tour of the inn with the history and changes over the years. Was incredible to learn some of the grapevines on and near the property were 200 years old. We ate at the Pub one evening and again top notch food with options also to eat from the dining room menu. We highly recommend the Edtini’s to drink. The French onion soup was the best I ever had. I also had the buffalo cauliflower that was a delight to the palate. Another evening we enjoyed in the main dining room. We all choose something different and shared. The beet salad was a delight and such a great fall item. Staying at the inn we watched them take zucchini fresh off their vines for dinner. We also all cleared our plates. The staff was incredible everyone was so pleasant and really worked as a team. Staff was also knowledgeable and offered great tips for things to see in the area. Definitely a treasure and will return...
