My wife and i stayed there at the Yale Manor in the first week of June(celebrating both of our Bday there). If to say in a few words it was just all Perfect, Excellent and vey very cozy! We will be back! As if in details, it was all great from the start. As soon i have booked the room, the next day Kathryn (one of the owners and caretaker) called us and let us know all the details of our stay beforehand, so to find out if all they offer be up to our expectations. Upon arrival It was exactly as described and promised. A cozy room with all the settings inside, so was the bathroom and everything else. This house is old and has a lot of the history behind, but that is what was so great about it and it is being kept and maintained very well will all the great and original furniture inside and its facilitates. Every morning you will be greeted in the dining room with a very delicious breakfast ready (prepared by a very nice lady-chef Michelle), or you can have it in your room (if you would preferred to) or it can be setup outside ( we had it under the 130 years old beach-copper three) where you can enjoy all the astonishing surrounding area, view on the endless fields or a lake breathing fresh air. Each day breakfast menu was different, so we were pleasantly surprised with something new every day. The feeling we had, like we were at our good friend’s house where been given a great guest room and being treated as best friends. The room, the bed and beddings and so it the bathroom spotless clean, like in your own house. The house is 3 min walking distance from the lake where they have their own pier with boat house that has everything you need to enjoy it there, like nice patio chairs, lounge chair, a kayak or other stuff that you are allowed to use. There is a grill right there in case you would like to grill something and have a little party, a fire pit and few tables, plus little fridge inside etc. All that prepared to be used by their guests. Seating on that pier with a bottle of local wine and watching sunset was priceless. If you are up for biking discovering the area or going around the lake, they even have few bikes which they also offering to use for free. So if you need a total recharge, quiet stay for a few days and cozy surroundings, this is the place for you. On their properties they also have built 4 Yurts. We have looked at one inside and were very surprised how nice they were built and spacious inside. So now we have decided to comeback in fall and be staying at one. Phillip and Kathryn, Thanks for your hospitality! We loved it up there and coming back in...
Read moreThis Bed and Breakfast was a real nightmare experience!
We did a trip across the North-East of the US and stopped at many different B&Bs so we had some experience and knew what to expect, but never have we seen a place like this. When we first peaked into the yurts, we found them to smell like dust and unclean. I had a congested nose at the time and could still smell this, which shows how bad it actually was. The entrance and house also looked like they have gotten into the years and were not cleaned enough, which we think is the bare minimum for a B&B. We then decided to see if we could stay in one of the rooms in the house. The entire house smelled of curry and other food smells, while also not being very clean and outdated.
After our findings we told the landlady that we do not see a way of staying at their place. Her response was that we would not get any money back for our reservation and then drove off in her car, which also showed the unfriendliness of her. The only positive thing was her husband who seemed nice, but we would not recommend anyone to stay at this place unless they want a real horror experience.
We also believe that there must be something of with the reviews they got since this was by far the best rated B&B along our trip but it was not even close to any of the other ones that we have stayed at. Either they delete bad reviews or they make up...
Read moreOur yurt was magnificent, and Katherine is a wonderful and very responsive host. We arrived to find our yurt stocked with a delicious array of breakfast treats, from muesli and fruit and yogurt to bagels and cream cheese. The interior is spacious enough, with its high ceiling and open floor plan, that even with no room divider, it felt like we each had plenty of our own space plus room to spare. It was lovely to see the full moon out the window, and feel the evening breeze. There are two horses on site, always a plus. And two funny dogs who also helped us feel welcomed! The location is a perfect jumping off place for exploring seneca and/or Cayuga lake wineries, waterfalls and towns, or a perfect place to simply stay and relax! The only downside for us, and it's probably our own misunderstanding, is we thought we would be right on the water. We were only a 5 minute walk down the road to the dock and the well stocked boat house, however the smell of the seaweed on the shore was so pungent our first three days (it lessened with a breeze later in our stay) that it diminished our desire to swim or put in a kayak there. Sitting at the end of the dock was relaxing though. I would definitely recommend this place for those who are looking for a unique, comfortable, warm and inviting place to launch a...
