Stony Creek Farmstead is a beautiful magical place, we cannot recommend it enough for an off the grid escape from the city. We were fortunate enough to spend the weekend at Stony Creek Farmstead from July 26 to 28, 2024. We reserved 3 cabins and the pavilion on Saturday pizza night to celebrate my hubby’s 50th Earth day. Being an outdoor enthusiast he specifically wanted a small gathering at a farm. We curated a list of 40 people that included friends and family of all ages. Dan and Kate at Stony Creek Farmstead could not have been more helpful and accommodating of our needs, questions and concerns. A lot of questions about facilities. We arrived on Friday night with a three car caravan of 10 people. After exploring and building a fire We ate a delicious welcome meal of soup salad and fresh baked bread. On Saturday morning we explored the farm along with other guests and members of the community for their free weekly farm tour. The farm is incredible beautiful and well run, and farm owner Kate explained their philosophy of farming and we walked around to visit the area specific crops, chickens pigs and sheep. Saturday evening’s pizza party was very well run, we had space for our party and the staff kept us supplied with delicious pizza and salad all night. The light and air around the farm was amazing. We loved the town of Walton, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Some in our party stayed at nearby hotels or AirBnB. We plan to go back again soon. Pro Tip: bring warm sleeping clothes because the temperature drops at night in the mountains. It gets very dark at night, beautiful for star gazing, but bring personal flashlight or headlamp to walk around. The “glamping” tent has a flush toilet and kitchen sink with wood burning stove. The cabin was very clean and the sheets and blankets soft and comfortable. We found bringing extra sleeping bags and blankets helped stay warm. No electricity in the tent so bring portable charger. There’s no WiFi in the cabins so plan to unplug and enjoy your surroundings! Again, well worth the visit to relax and unplug. We enjoyed our stay at the farm and look forward to coming back for a visit either for Pizza night or...

I had a wonderful 3 night stay at Stony Creek Farm with my extended family. We got 2 tents for 5 adults and 5 children ages 12, 10, 9, 4 and 2. Kate is magical, making everyone feel like they are right at home. She has a wealth of knowledge about food and farming practices that she shares on the farm tour making the stay not only fun but informative as well. She is wonderful with children, ensuring they remain safe but have a great time too. All of the kids loved their time on the farm and didn't want to leave! The farm landscape is absolutely stunning – lush green grass, rolling hills and a creek running through the property. ||||The sleeping accommodations are very cozy and comfortable with each of the three areas feeling distinct when you're in them. The linens were soft and the mattresses very comfortable. ||||Eating farm fresh food is definitely a highlight of this and any farm stay so be sure to budget for shopping in the farm store. You can pretty much eat from there exclusively but there is a supermarket a few miles away if you need a few other items. Pizza night was amazing! The best pizza I have ever had! We also loved that so many people from the community come out. We met some really lovely, warm and welcoming people. No cell service so that meant that everyone was actually talking to each other! So refreshing! For meals in your tent be sure to bring soap and a sponge to wash up dishes. ||||Another highlight for us was the getting to know the three farm cats and Rosie the guard dog. They were all so sweet and great with all of the kids. They roam the property and the kids loved running into them. ||||We will definitely be returning in the future! Kate and Dan, thank you for an...

Highly recommended! My wife and I stayed in one of the platform tents with our 2 year old daughter-- for context, I enjoy backpacking/camping but my wife does not particularly like camping, and this was our first time bringing the toddler on an experience like this. We all had a fantastic time. The platform tents were very nice. There was a sturdy wood stove, kitchen area with clean cold water piped in, and a small toilet room with a flush toilet. We stashed my daughter in a raised bunk area and we slept in the bigger bed. It was spacious, comfortable, and dry. Overall the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable. We stayed here in October and whenever the wood stove died overnight the tent would get COLD, but easily fixed by layering up our clothes and immediately lighting the fire in the morning. The farm was so much fun for everyone. There's a motley crew of ducks, chickens, working dogs, outdoor cats, sheep, etc that wander around the farmstead and semi-interact with the campers. My daughter loves animals but is shy when they get close-- she had so much fun roaming around the farm and visiting all the animals. We checked out two weeks ago and she still says "I want to see Alfred the duck." It was fun and relaxing for the adults too. There's no cell service or wifi so you really get a chance to relax, read, and de-stress. We will definitely be returning to Stony Creek Farmstead and are planning to bring family friends as well.

My family visits Walton a couple (few maybe?) times a year to get out of the city, and visiting Stoney Creek is a must every time. Firstly, they’re all so welcoming. Happy to give little tours and answer questions at the drop of a hat. Which my son absolutely loves. But holy smokes the foooooood. This past summer was the first time we were able to do one of their “pizza nights” and we were blown away. Every time we visit we stock up on chorizo, bone-broth-bones, eggs, ham hocks etc. (The chorizo is SO good) And there’s always something my wife thinks of last minute that they of course dig up from somewhere in the back :p Oh, and we absolutely take advantage of their NYC DELIVERIES whenever we can. (Including farm raised turkeys for Thanksgiving!) You just have to go! In general though, let me say this. I can’t imagine how hard it is to run a farm like theirs. All the endless work. And again, every time we drop in, Kate is just so nice. Shares in the excitement of our family etc. It could be so easy to just not be into people coming by your house/LIFE, but that just never happens. Thank you for being such an amazing anchor for our little “factory reset” weekends everyone!
