Let’s get down to the reality of this place. It is not bad, if it were a cheaper price! But the prices I paid to stay here is what you can find to stay in a cottage closer to town/Lake george itself and that comes with your own cottage, A/C, tv, kitchen, seating, free rentals, and CLEAN bathrooms.
Staff/tent: The staff is friendly, but the prices here are crazy and nothing matches what I really saw online. We got the tent with 3 beds, and they were nice with a comforter, a throw pillow, and two pillows that are as thick as a piece of paper, but it’s camping so I didn’t mind that bit too much. What I did mind was that we were literally on the side of a main road with two little ones and nothing but a wooden fence protecting you from those zooming cars. At night we got to hear of the cars rushing past at night and their headlights shining into our tent all night long. All tents are on top of each other so you really don’t have that much space to yourself, and I was worried because of the lack of space, there were cars pulling in and out while kids are running around. If there was more space in between each tent that the cars could drive through, I wouldn’t be as worried. Oh! And the zipper that attaches the whole tent to base was broken. I was able to get the clasp back on to one side. Though the staff offered to fix anything within the tent or replace, I just genuinely wanted to relax and not have to wait for someone to come out and mess with the WHOLE tent.
Food: Bring your own food, pots, pans, drinks, etc. We were unsure about the food situation because it was classified as “glamping” and an easy “luxurious” experience. You get a mini Weber grill and picnic table under a little blue tent next to your sleeping tent. Didn’t mind this part and thought the setup was cute!
Bathrooms/showers: Bathrooms. I didn’t bother showering once because my family complained about how disgusting it was in there. All the showers are put together in a trailer and my mom compared it to her situation in the army barracks overseas…. ROUGH. The bathrooms were so gross, we felt comfortable taking the drive to town to use the bathroom there more than at our own camp site. I love camping, but that is what this is. This should’ve been an average cheap camping experience. They shouldn’t have a advertised it to be a beautiful, luxurious glamping experience.
Events: Yes, they do have events! But not as many as I would’ve hoped. They were either repetitive or added to the pit in your wallet. We were looking to do the paint n sip event, but it’s $20/person and bring your own sip! For a family of 5, you’re looking at another $100 spent in an hour of fun. The outdoor lounge area is cool where they do bingo, karaoke, and bring a guy to play with his guitar, I give them that!
Extras: They have an adult “lounge” which is just the front deck of a barn with two hanging swing chairs, a couple of other chairs, and their “massages” is you can rent out time to these two leather massage chairs that sit outside all day! How….luxurious? The whole idea of this place was really cool, but was either POORLY executed or deserves a DRASTIC price drop…. Only thing that you don’t have to rent to use is the tubes… more money out of your pocket!
If you want to do camping, find a nearby camp ground and it’s the same thing, but for the right price! And if you want to spend this kind of money, rent out a cute little collage that’s right off of lake George! Won’t be coming back because of the ridiculous prices and charges to things. This is just standard camping and the bathrooms...
Read moreMy husband and I just returned from Adirondack Safari. I wish I could say it was an excellent experience, but it wasn't. Other than the river tubing, this place was lacking in just about everything. To start, the firewood they deliver is not dry. We bought their firestarter kit and some of our own firestarter stuff to no avail. We mentioned it to the manager and he is in denial about how wet the wood is. I pointed out that no one had a campfire going most of the nights we were there because the wood was wet. Management should take the time to see how few fires there are so they will understand the wood they sell is not dry. We finally went down the road to the Price Chopper and purchased new firewood. Guess what? We had an excellent fire. We added the wood AS supplied and the fire immediately started to go out. What good is camping if you can't have a campfire? As a result, there were many bugs out at night and we were forced to retreat to our tent early each evening.||Another issue is that although they claim this is glamping, they do not have sufficient lighting in the tents nor did the canopy covering the picnic table have any lighting. That is not glamping in my opinion. Also, I don't know why they claim to have "color-changing LED lights" in each tent. Each tent had one light that remained whatever color the bulb was. . .in our case, blue.||Another problem was that the tent became soaked on the inside after a bad rainstorm one night. The floor was wet and some of my stuff got very wet and I'm still drying it out! I've read in other reviews that the staff will make sure your tent is closed up if you're away from your site during the day. Why don't they make the rounds at night to ensure that everyone stays dry? ||The tent was spacious but horribly hot due to the lack of shade. It was like a sauna during the day. Yuck. Then it began it to smell due to how wet it got on the inside. The staff should do a better job explaining to people when to shut the big flaps outside. Of course, it was so steamy that shutting the flaps would make for a dark, airless cave. Everything was damp inside the tent and my clean clothes were wet due to the extreme humidity. It's not AS's fault about the humidity but considering the tent got so wet on the inside from the rain. we never were dry again. My feet began to swell up from the non-stop heat and moisture. ||Lastly, the bathrooms were NOT clean! The shower was disgusting with a lot of detritus in the drain and hairs all over the walls. I couldn't get finished quickly enough and vowed to not repeat that horrid experience. Also, there is only one bathroom for the entire campground and if you have to go in the middle of the night, it's a long walk. It's also unpleasant to have to walk so far during a rainstorm just to use the toilet.||On the positive, they have an area set aside to put on makeup and dry your hair that is clean and nicely appointed although there are no sinks. They have daily bingo and that was fun-ish. The little boy, however, gave bad directions about how many cards could play and the manager did nothing to correct him. They also had a native American performance that was pretty good although the fire was so dim that during half of the performance you couldn't see the dancers very well until a log fell and ignited the fire to burn more brightly. As I stated at the beginning, the tubing part was excellent. It was very peaceful and serene.||I was really looking forward to staying here but unfortunately, it...
Read moreWe had 5 ladies for a 2-night girl's trip, and overall we had a good time but it wasn't perfect.
-The tent interior was cute, the beds were comfortable. The roaming bluegrass band was a highlight. Such nice people and great performance.
It was pretty chilly at night, I wish they would have thicker comforters. (I flew for this, so bringing a blanket would have been tough.)
The website photos make you think you won't be right next to another tent. Wrong! They pack those tents in there!
Many tents are along the road. Seems some locals like to drive by and make excessive noise to prove how cool they are. Horns blaring as they drove by, or revving their engines. 🙄
For a "glamping" experience, I feel like the bathrooms should have been much nicer/cleaner. They were just typical campground bathrooms, very basic. No screen door so bugs were everywhere. For the price we paid it could have been nicer.
-We wanted to do the paint and sip, but in an outside pavilion the paint would have been lumpy from the millions of bugs.
The staff tells you to only leave reviews if they are positive. I think that makes it difficult for people to find honest reviews.
Tips for anyone going: Bring bug spray. A lot. And citronella candles. We couldn't even spend time outside until we lit the candles. Make sure you get ice for your coolers before arriving. The little store is very expensive and $4.28 for a tiny 5 pound bag of ice was crazy. If your tent isn't near the bathroom, it can be quite a long walk. Many people drive cars to the bathroom which of course was...
