If you want posh luxury - go somewhere else! But... if you like an old-timey, rustic, genuine, friendly, no pressure, don't have to remortgage the house to stay here kind of place, then this is for you!!!

A fire on the beautiful rock beach at sunset is priceless. One of my absolute favorite things in the world to do : ) Kayaks on the inlet are so much fun - easier here than on the lake. Rustic cottages are clean and beds are very comfortable. Just love staying in them when available, else main house rooms are great too. Be prepared that if something might need attention here and there in your cottage - just tell Herb or Mari and it'll be taken care of.

Oh, make sure to stop in at Jackson Harbor Soup restaurant - excellent sandwiches, and the carrot cake is to die for! Seriously, the pieces are so big that it would be dangerous to eat the whole thing!!! No problem -...

Gibson's West Harbor Resort is located right on the water with a beautiful view! They have rooms upstairs in the main lobby with shared bathrooms at the end of the hall. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff of this family-run resort are friendly and fun! They go out of their way to make you feel at home. During the summer months, various cottages are available with their own kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living rooms. They provide activities on the water, horseshoes, or just a place to soak in all the beauty of the area. On top of it all, their prices are very reasonable, probably the best prices for lodging on a beautiful vacation...

We stayed here for one night at the end of August....were a little apprehensive, as we would have to share a bathroom and the room rate was very inexpensive. But we were blown away at how clean the rooms were and the beds were quite comfortable. The property is very large, with a lake on one side and rocky beach with fire pits on the other. The first floor is homey and comfortable with a TV room and lots of DVD's and books. There is also a pool table and large table to play games or cards. Another room has access to a refrigerator and microwave. The owners were very friendly and even carried our bags upstairs for us. We would definitely stay...
