Emerald Forest Bungalows: aka Jake's Place — Hotel in Town of Wawarsing

We stayed at "Jake's Place" a few weeks ago, and had a fabulous time. The views on the side of the road/mountain as you near Ellensville will make your jaw drop. Mike is extremely helpful with advice on anything you ask, and the cabin was spotless, as well as being new. We stayed in the White Pine cabin, next door to the Owl's Nest. There is also another set of twin cabins being built further into the woods. There IS wi-fi in the cabins. We wanted to be near hiking, yet not in total isolation. We fished in the pond and quickly caught two fish, a small bass and a large sunfish. There are some massive carp in there that I'd love to try for next time. We also swam in the nice pool, which is saltwater. Only the two cabins and Jake's family use the pool. At night it cools down, plus there are ceiling fans, we were not at all too hot. There is one bedroom downstairs, and two beds in the upstairs loft. This was the perfect location, the cabins are set back from a main road that will take you straight down the mountain and into town. The town is only a 10 minute drive away, and Sam's Point Preserve about 20. Plus other mountains and preserves in the area. There are several restaurants in town, we had dinner at Aroma Thyme Bistro. Expensive with small portions, but very good. Mike later had suggestions for other restaurants. We look forward to visiting again...

This is our second time coming to Emerald Forest Bungalows. We absolutely love it here! The cabin is both rustic and modern, which allows us to truly enjoy upstate while still being comfortable. It’s very peaceful which is great because we come here to get away from all the noise of everyday life. They have a great pond for fishing right on the property! I have caught some very nice size bass both years that we’ve come here. On top of that, they have a salt water pool, which we really like because it’s good for your skin and feels a lot healthier than the chlorine filled public pools. The owners, Mike and his family, are very friendly and accommodating. We have everything we need on premises and if we decide to venture out, there are plenty of lakes and hiking trails all around us. We will be coming back every summer moving forward!

Jake's Place is a nice secluded cabin conveniently located to many of the places I like to go, as a visitor in the Catskills. We rented the cabin to celebrate my brother's birthday. The guests included myself, my wife, the birthday boy and his fiancé. Mike was very helpful when I was getting information for the place. The cabin is quite spacious and beautiful. It has many windows and a quaint fire heater that puts out plenty of heat using wood pellets. Everything was clean and anything you needed was available. The cabin was close to the Gunks, Mohonk Preserve, Minnewaska, the town of New Paltz. I am planning on returning with the in laws soon for a clean, restful place close to the beautiful places in...
