My wife and I love visiting this part of Wisconsin and this place just added another reason we love it. We will definitely be coming back again. We enjoyed most everything about this place. The building and porch. The scenery. The peacefulness. The alone time (except the few times Cosmo the dog joined us). The cell signal was even good for those few times we broke down to "reconnect" with the rest of the world. Reserving the place was more challenging than other places weâve stayed, but it was definably worth the effort. Personally, we had everything we needed to enjoy our time at #1 Bungalow, but if you're looking at that building, here are tips that may help you enjoy your stay more: There is no stove or oven. Only a gas grill with a burner outside and a microwave inside. I guess this is the only building on the property like this, so choose a different building if indoor cooking is important to you. The fridge is a small hotel-sized one, so bring a cooler if you need lots of space. They might have extra quilts/blankets on hand during colder months, but we didn't see them so Iâd recommend asking or bringing your own if you like them to wrap up and feel cozy. The chairs on the back porch aren't built for comfort, so unless you like metal âwaffleâ chairs I recommend bringing your own to enjoy the porch. The TV tech is from early 2000s at best â Tube projection TV, DirecTV, a DVD player and a VCR. Leave anything that uses HDMI or USB cables at home. As a matter of fact, just leave the TV off and enjoy being disconnected from...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed Friday thru Sunday in August. When you read secluded this is no joke! First off, we lost cell phone reception about 30 minutes before we arrive (we have Cricket, sorry....Cricket really sucks). ||||We pulled into the area and checked in with the very friendly "innkeepers" and then we had to drive up a dirt road to get to the cabin. When we pulled into the the little drive you could barely see the cabin through the foliage. It was a very cute, very clean cabin. We loved the wrap around deck. The bed was very comfortable, the whirlpool tub was great and there is also a shower. We brought all our own food and cooked out on the propane grill on the desk which I LOVED. Each morning we woke up to the sun coming into the many windows and and I would start the coffee and head out onto the deck to read. We sunbathed and relaxed. Although there is satellite TV we only listened to music and read. While at the cabin we did not see a single other human soul. We felt very unplugged and relaxed.||||There are things to do nearby. We never ate out but we did go to the State Park and for $11 we purchased an all day pass and went hiking. There were quite a few trails and it was so beautiful. I took my camera and took lots of pictures.||||There is also horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking nearby all for a reasonable price. We had intended to do those things but due to my husbands unexpected surgery the week before we could not.||||I would certainly go again and...
Read moreWhere to begin? I am so glad to have been referred to this amazing place of tranquility. You know youâre in for an adventure as soon as hubby shifts to 4x4. From that moment on, youâre in for an evening of true isolation. Iâm talking all windows open in nothing but a loosely tied, plush robe. Our cabin (chalet 3) was BEAUTIFUL. Everywhere you happen to glance, thereâs something new to take in that is so thoughtful. This place has everything you could need- down to picnic baskets and a lovely board game set. It is impossible to be bored. One thing I particularly appreciated is the clear efforts made in knocking down spider webs regularly. The only thing I was uncertain about when booking was the bug situation (the arachnophobia is real!), but there was no need to worry, as it is clearly maintained so well. Between the amazingly designed space, endless thoughtful touches, and no cut-corners approach to maintenance and up-keep, I honestly feel that this rental is of a great value. Every relationship needs nurturing, and this is the ultimate place to do just that. If you donât leave with a smile on your face, you may not be human! Thanks so much, we canât wait to be...
