The nature is very beautiful, but we were surprised by the mismanagement of garbage given this is bear country. There were dumpsters near the campsites overflowing with garbage without bear lock lids, and there’s a restaurant down the road where bears regularly access food. Although we cleaned up our campsite after dinner, we still had a bear circle and swipe into our tent on night one… we’ve never experienced anything like this before, and we even had other groups camping on either side of us. The bear was easily scared away with some loud noises, but it was frightening to say the least! I’d say come in a trailer or prepped for bear interaction. Views wise, it’s definitely worth waiting for one of the campsites right by the water which are stunning! We would need to see some changes made before going back.

Was Skeptical due to the county road being so close! Glad we went because wow! We stayed on site 123 and the only traffic we heard were the muffles of loud exhaust and big trucks. The river drowns out all the road noise. The site was HUGE and neighboring sites were far away. As others have complained the road for the Berry Patch loop is NARROW! However there was a family with a large 5th wheel tucked in so with patience and a little know how you can make it work. Bathrooms were clean and what you would expect from a DEC campsite. 0 complaints about this place the staff are great and really care about the park! Will 100% be back again.

This campground was beautiful. We got lucky with our sites and had this amazing spot by the river. Some sites are a bit smaller than others, so I highly recommend checking out the map to book a site you like. We had 139 and 138. If you are on the inside, it would be more difficult to access the river unless you knew or made friends with your neighbors. Campsites were clean and well maintained and perfect for our 1-2 tents and 1-2 cars. Plenty of room for campers on some sites and lots of trees for hammock hanging. We will definitely try to come back!

2022 Stay: We recently stayed at this campground again on it's opening weekend. While there the maintenance crews were still doing a lot of clean up. However instead of removing the leaves they were just left in piles on the sides of the campsites. Not very safe in my opinion when it comes to sparks flying from campfires. Bathrooms were clean as far as the toilet area went. But you could tell no deep clean had been done in a while. Lots of cobwebs and dust everywhere.

What really got me about this stay was that unfortunately one of our travel party received an emergency phone call to the campground. When the employee informed her of this she asked if she could use the phone to call back and find out what was going on. The employee told her that it was the campgrounds policy that they cannot let guests make outgoing calls. I understand why this policy is in place, but when an establishment receives an emergency phone call with a name and number to call back for one of it's guests, I find it absolutely appalling that the staff would not offer the courtesy of one quick phone call to said guest. Instead the guest has to drive a half an hour attempting to find service and ends up using the phone at a convenience store where the owner was gracious enough to let them use the phone. Then they had to turn around, come back, pack everything up and go home because her father was hospitalized. People need to be more compassionate.

2019 Stay - 4 stars:This campsite is very nice and well maintained. We stayed at site 124 with our 20 foot camper and it was amazing. I give this site 4 stars because our friend who was traveling with his dog was told he couldn't stay because he only had the rabies tag from the vet, even though the DEC website states that this is acceptable proof of vaccination. So either the site or the campground was wrong and our friend traveled over an hour to stay. He had to go back and get his rabies certificate. In order to get in to tell us he had to leave again he had to pay the day pass fee which they did not put towards his over campsite rental fee when he came back. Then he was told he HAD to set up a tent even though he was sleeping in the back of his vehicle where he had his blow up mattress set up. Apparently car camping is not allowed. Again, this was not stated on their website or in...

if i could give zero i would this place is definetly not for kids one being no swimming beach littely have to try to climb in the river which has alot of rocks and boulders if you want a beach you gotta drive up to wells. second I have a 10 year autistic boy who was riding a big wheel bike the old lady care taker yelled at him and told him he couldnt ride his bike up and down driveway of our campsite i could see it if dark. well 5 days later he does again and course his 4 year old sister gonna follow well care taker basically told us to pack up and leave never yelled at any other kids riding there bikes i feel this is discrimintaion. I called the DEC only for the care taker to lie her teeth out and say i never kicked them out oh i didnt realize he was austic ha care taker really none of her business even though we had said it to her the first time. So we made the decision to pack up and leave any way cause the care taker had ruined our trip that we had saved up for a yr. Also you cant hear the loons at this campground. I will be taking it with Disabilites of america about our stay. also this place is only good if retired or no kids and just want to hear river all...

This place is ok if you do some research. Lots of spots are along the highway and offer zero privacy, think music festival in a field camping. Lots of spots are congregated close around restroom facilities that are acceptable but have lights that stay on all night so not super fun to camp near. Definitely try and get a river spot those all seem to be pretty good. Spot 61 looks good on the map but is right at the bridge literally everyone has to cross so there is tons of traffic. The staff is interesting, the younger folks were fantastic and even helped my son earn a merit badge thing he really thought was awesome. The older staff seems true to some of the other negative reviews I've read, they seem like the kinda folks that watch out the window of the nursing home all day waiting for a visitor to park In the wrong spot so they can call the building manager. I had a negative interaction with an older woman that seemed overjoyed she found a rule in the archives that prevented me from sleeping in my truck tent on the same spot as my in-laws Rv. I get it places have rules but what I guess she thinks is a no nonsense straight shooter style of customer service just comes...
