While I have not stayed over night at this Bed and breakfast, it offers so much more than just a place to sleep. My friends and I have enjoyed the bread making class, which includes a served dinner. We have had the wine tasting with appetizers-worth every penny!! And purchased their breads and meats. We keep going back! We love the hard working owners who make you feel like family. They often have time to tell you the history of the area or talk about their travels. The farm is a real, live, working farm that is well organized, neat, and clean. If you want the little ones to get a real country experience, this is the place to be. And their hours of operation are fantastic. Call first to make sure it hasn't changed, but last I checked, they are open 365 days 8am to 8pm. Wine tasting is usually on the weekends and seasonal, but again, call first, the owners are very flexible. And it is located directly across the street from Burnett Dairy-another must see in the area. Don't...
Read moreOur daughters planned a birthday event for my wife recently in which our whole family drove over and had a bread making session. Virginia was terrific dealing with our gang and was especially attentive to my 90 year old father in law my 83 year old mother to be sure they were enjoying the lesson. We loved her stories and her demonstrations of best practices while kneading of the dough. When we were waiting for the dough to rise, we had a wonderful wine and snack break prepared by Joe. Afterwards, we went back and rolled the dough into loaves and Virginia loaded the oven and then it was back to the porch for a wonderful lunch prepared by Joe and then we toured the guest house and took in the abundance of flowers, shrubs and all the rest of the country scenery. The experience was just a perfect way to spend an afternoon and everyone had a terrific time. I have told several friends about how much we enjoyed ourselves. Do yourself a favor and plan a trip, you'll be...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the coolest places I have ever stayed with my girlfriend. This wonderful farm is historically rich and very comforting to say the least. Virginia and Joe, the owners, are very welcoming sweet people that will make you feel like family upon staying at Smoland. If you want to get away from the busy society and leave the phone in your car, this is the place to visit. You will feel like you are back in time but still have modern day luxuries. We could not get enough of the house and the decor, you will have plenty to look at and read about! There is bread, wine , and meats offered here also! The bread I can say is delicious and classes are taught on how to make it. The breakfast was amazing we both agreed and the overall experience and service we received here was top notch. I don’t want to give too much away about this beautiful location, so I advise anyone looking for a one of a kind bed and breakfast to check this place out and be ready for a...
