I'll first say the staff was very nice. However, the campground was very disappointing. I just popped in to see if there were any handicap accessible sites and check out the accessibility of the bathrooms. Unfortunately, it's not designed as accessible. Also, I will say when I popped in to check the restrooms for accessibility they were really gross. The campground itself is pretty much an open area-- from my perception. Camping here you would have no privacy and really not be enjoying the woods-- if that's what you're after. There is a large yurt on one end and the campgrounds are clustered in front of it. It's a small campground as well and unfortunately your neighbors are right on top of you. It was definitely loud, which in a way is good that people were enjoying themselves, but if you're coming for the eace of the forest, you're not going to find it at this campground. I will reiterate though, the staff that I spoke with were very nice. Unfortunately it just seems like it's another example of state budget cuts and not enough staff and funds to do all of the appropriate maintenance needed to keep this place up. Sad. At one time it must have been very beautiful and a wonderful place for families to go. If you are physically challenged, IMHO this campground is not...

Recently stayed here and the place was over crowded with Spanish speaking people. They were all smoking pot and drinking. Blasting loud music until 1am. They would turn is down when the Ranger came thru and turn it back up after he passed. I never witnessed anyone speak to them about any issues. They actually took over our campsite on either side of us. They actually set up their tent two feet away from our tent. They set up their other tent a foot away from my daughter's hammock. One of the people actually stood in my campsite while I was cooking dinner. I asked him to leave and he pretended not to understand me. Continue to stand directly next to me while I was at the grill cooking. We had booked for three night and only stayed one. We booked another site at another park and went on Our way. The actual campground was small with a few trails. No swimming due to...

Nice beautiful place, kind of close quarters (you see everyone next to you)but not a good night. What was supposed to be a fun weekend turned into a terrible one night stay after the "quiet hour" of ten pm. became hell. A drunk being too loud causing a scene being disrespectful of others and family that are trying to have a fun time. It felt scary and unsafe even when the cops were there in front of our tent trying to get the guy to calm down. For three hours...could not sleep, had a breakdown and all i got the next morning when i left saying i couldn't believe what happened was them laughing it off saying they know the guy and that I 'got a show' are you kidding me?! I was happy to leave even though i lost my second days money worth for only staying one night. Make it mandatory to look for alcohol or if you know he has in issue ban him from the park! ...

I do a lot of hiking and I felt very safe in this beautiful area. The trail is along the brook, there are also other trails within the state forest that do not go along the water. I've always enjoyed trails that border water, especially running water. We did have our dogs in the water, but there was a sign at the front gates of the parking area stating that the water was not safe enough for people to swim in. When I first pulled up in my truck, I thought there may be a fee for parking but there was not. The area is very well kept and rangers monitor the gates.

Several trails to choose from. We walked the Willard Brook trail for about a mile in and then back. You'll have to navigate tree roots and some rocks on this trail. Quite pretty, but I think most kids under 8 might get tired. I didn't try the other two trail loops but will return to try those. The entrance has a sign with fees on it, but that is for the campground higher up. The forest trails are free with free parking. Restrooms are near the pond. Only a mile up from Trap Falls on Route 119. Worth a visit and hike.

willard Brook Trail is a quick 2 miles if all your looking for is to race to the end and back. But if you looking for photo possibilities this is the place. I took so many photos. Do wear traction to hike if you plan on visiting. The ice along the trail is very slick and stretches almost the entire path. Also the parking area is closed but there is another parking area right outside the gate and it's a 1min walk to the trailhead.
