We could not be happier with our decision to hold our wedding weekend at Hotel Domestique! We initially contacted Sarah, the event coordinator of Hotel Domestique only 6 weeks before our wedding, after making the difficult decision to downsize our large wedding due to COVID19. We were planning to reduce our wedding guest list from 160 to 26 people, and were looking for a venue that would be more size-appropriate for our new plan to host a small, intimate ceremony and elegant dinner. Hotel Domestique did not disappoint! From the first day we met with Sarah and toured the gorgeous hotel and dreamy grounds, we knew that Hotel Domestique would be the perfect venue for us! Even in planning a completely new wedding in only 6 weeks, we couldn’t have had a better experience at Hotel Domestique. Sarah was fantastic to work with. She was prompt, clear, and consistent with communication, and very accommodating, even with the constantly changing state COVID regulations. Sarah was great at helping us create a beautiful new wedding plan, while incorporating COVID precautions that would ensure our guests felt safe and comfortable (which was something that was important to us!) She also helped us to come up with some creative solutions to carry out the wedding plans we initially wanted, by shifting their “typical” event practices to accommodate our ideas in a safe manner. We booked out the entire hotel (13 rooms total) for our wedding group and stayed the entire weekend. The hotel staff treated us so well and were so amazing to work with. We received special treats on our pillows each night and were given free use of all of the common areas! I can’t say enough positive things about Hotel Domestique and all of its staff on-site!! So many of our guests are still telling us that our wedding was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. :) If you’re considering having your wedding here, do it!! You...
Read moreWhere do I even begin??! We live in downtown Greenville, but decided to do a two night work retreat/staycation over Fourth of July. We've been many times during the day for their incredible cheese and charcuterie boards to unwind with a majestic view in the. background. We've also been to Restaurant 17 many times and have never been disappointed. We were excited to actually experience the hotel. We had our dog with us and to say they are dog friendly, would be a huge understatement. They are so accommodating! The hotel dog greeted ours upon arrival and there were dog bowls and a dog bed in our room. The staff went out of their way to pet him and say hello.. it was amazing! Shout out to Christina, who made our stay an absolute joy. We aren't high maintenance by any means, but she was always an earshot away to predict if we needed anything at all. She made our stay. We asked for towels, and Christina was there with towels, fresh cookies and a pet for Wells. It felt like we were staying in the remote countryside, (which we wanted), yet we were catered to and waited on hand and foot. Downtown Greenville was only 35 minutes in one direction and Travelers Rest and Flat Rock a short drive in either direction. I worked some and lounged in the pool. Total recharge. The bartender on Tuesday during the day was a total delight. Naturally engaging and interested in making sure our snacks and drinks were on point and that we were enjoying ourselves. I hate that I forgot her name, but blonde hair, that lives in Taylors... the most delightful personality. We'll be back soon! Our only feedback... we just spent 5 days at the Charleston Place last week and would love some kind of loyalty program sometime down the line, since they are sister hotels. And hot tub was a big draw, but unfortunately was out of service during our stay. Thanks for an overall...
Read moreWent to HD for some riding and writing and a had productive trip. As a cycling fan, I’ve always wanted to try out George Hincapie’s hotel and I’m giving my experience a 5 star review and much like how George looked for incremental improvements during his career, I will offer some thoughts to ensure a yellow jersey for this European inspired gem.
Shout outs to Maggie, Chad and the rest of staff. They were awesome and helpful and I will say that considering they market to a cycling crowd, I would recommend hiring another cycling wrench to support Chad with more technical repairs since he can’t work every day. Additionally, I was disappointed to discover that they didn’t have any Wahoo equipment in their wellness room and would recommend deleting this from their website.
The flavors from Restaurant 17 are wonderful, but at the same time vegetarians or vegans will struggle with the limited options. I had to default to a salad with tempeh and a small dish. There were no plant based entrees. Also for breakfast the menu is limited and I’m surprised the chef doesn’t offer a carb loving option for the cyclists like a waffle, French toast or pancakes.
Your stay here isn’t cheap. It’s also isolated, which I love but you should expect to travel to get meals off property. I would recommend Tandem and Farmhouse Tacos in TP.
Just a couple other incremental changes. They offer snacks like popcorn, Chex mix, and trail mix which is great, but the dispensers are horrible. It’s hard to get anything out.
Here the last one, the rooms are beautiful, but when I wanted to put my feet up and watch a little tv after a long ride, I realize that the wonderful four post bed created a spilt screen effect.
All in all, I had a great trip and would go back, but the little things matter if you are going to win the...
