👉⚠️This is a nice campground but NOT for LARGE/TALL Motorhomes or Rv 5th wheels. I would suggest no bigger than 25' to 30' rigs. Maybe 35' is tops. The sites were built long ago and are not updated. The roads are narrow, and many curves to maneuver with deep dips and no shoulders. ⚠️The outside edges of the road into the camp ground has crumbled away on parts and created deep side drop-offs. ⚠️This can be dangerous if your camper goes off the road into these ditches on the sides. Driving around the park with big rigs is tight and lots of trees to watch out for also. We were told there would not be a problem for our size 5th wheel to get into the park and fit in slip. That was some misinformation given to us when we booked for 3 nights. Our rig is 42', and with dully, we are at total 59' and height is 13'1/2". That doesn't work in this place. We had a difficult time getting into this park and using the whole road to go around bends, barely missing branches or falling off the pavement edges. It was stressful, to say the least. Circumstances left us no options for other locations, and all places we tried were full. We did make it to our site #38 back in slip. It doesn't leave room for our truck or the company truck he needed for work. We parked into the woods on the side of RV. It was really muddy with the tires sinking in the ground from the couple days rain here in Paris mounian state park the previous nights. 👍There are some nice things to add while we got situated here. It was quiet during the evening, and the campfire smell was invigorating. There are many different sounds of nature & bird songs to hear. We didn't go on trails because of the rain. They do allow dogs to the campgrounds, but there are no dog runs. ⚠️There is a place I saw, to swim but the beach is dirt and the river water was pretty muddy looking (probably from the rain) and not inciting to swim in it. I don't swim in rivers after getting terribly sick, so it's your call on that. 👋When we leave our site to head out, we are getting a ranger to escort us out. The reason for this is that when we take the wide turns around the bends, the truck & RV take the whole road. Someone heading in cannot back up or move over. There are no shoulders to the roads. So it can be a tough situation. So we will contact the park rangers so there won't be problems leaving the park. 🙏I know this is a long post. Thanks for reading it, but I just wanted to save others with big rigs the hassle from getting into this park. 🤷♀️Even though they say you're fine and all, I beg to differ, try finding someplace else, and then visit with your vehicle. Hope this helps with your decisions and being happy camping in other places in South...
Read moreIt's a pretty park, but if you are RV camping, it's kind of a nightmare! The road going in is small and winding. If you meet another vehicle, one of you is stopping so the other can pass. At night, the gate that locks is a major safety hazzard!!! In today's age, it should be a key fob gate of some sort. This locked gate - It's literally a lock on a metal gate that you have to dial the combination on, then you have to swing the gates open, pull through and then close and lock the gate! If you're in a rush, due to a medical emergency, you'd probably lose easily 2 minutes trying to get out!!! If you're older and not agile or quick, it'll take much longer! Out of the 30 plus state parks we've visited in the past two years, this is definitely one that could use a little upgrading. We were in site 21, and honestly, it was horrible. The asphalt was cracked and falling apart. There's rebar sticking out at the end of the pad. It looks like they're maybe in process of replacing the asphalt as there's orange paint marking the edges.
If you stay as an RV camping guest, I'd...
Read moreThe park is beautiful and has numerous well maintained trails for hikers. The staff were all very nice and the bath houses were always very clean. It is a beautiful spot and very quiet at night. The road in is winding and very narrow with no shoulder or guardrail. The drop on one side can be quite steep in some sections. I wish the park would rethink the size RVs and busses they allow in the campground. The size limit does not seem to take into account the large trucks required to pull them or the large cars the busses tow behind them. The narrow one way road in the campground proved very challenging for most larger RVs as they tried to get into their sites. Many also found leveling difficult. Avoid site #4 as it is very close to #5 and their fire ring. We had to shut our trailer up any time they built a fire. I didn’t notice this Issue at...
