I stayed here for one night, as I was attending a wedding. If you are the type (like I am) who normally will not stay in a place where the room's door opens to the outside, please make an exception for The Groovy Nomad.
Their messages between booking and stay are automated; I'd paid for early check-in, for example, and if I received a message that stated the standard check-in time, I would just confirm that they still had me checking in early. They were prompt and responsive, I had no issues getting into my room at the appropriate time.
Now, if you are looking for palatial luxury accommodations, keep going. You're not going to find any suites or large bathrooms - but it is quite obvious that the owners meticulously renovated to optimize the space. The showers are step-in, roomy, and beautifully done. The rooms are generous (I stayed in the Palm Springs room) and super-clean. The coffee station had everything I needed to make that first cup - including a couple of bottles of Fuji water, Gevalia pods, eco-friendly cups, and raw sugar (I normally take honey in my coffee, but raw sugar works just fine, and I was glad it wasn't refined!). I turned the tv on, but I'm not really a Netflix, YouTube tv, etc., type, so I didn't watch anything. The wifi works beautifully, and the charging stations juiced up my laptop and phone in no time. Beyond those special touches, it was a fun, nostalgic step back in time.
Several wedding guests stayed in the other rooms, and I was concerned about noise; however, it was very quiet. No issues there. About the only thing I would suggest to management is to maybe add a tissue box for those of us in the throes of allergy season. That's not a big issue, just a suggestion.
It's a motel - yes - but they have gone out of their way to include special amenities in their fully renovated, fun-themed rooms. Tap into your sense of adventure and give it a whirl - you...
Read moreStory time: we had a girlfriend getaway at a cabin in Lookout Mountain, went to check out Sunday morning and my car wouldn't start. Had to get it towed down the mountain to this auto repair shop in this small town Trenton, GA.
On the way to the shop we saw The Groovy Nomad and a cleaning person and decided to check it out because it was so cute and about 5 minutes from the repair shop. We drove over and went to the office, which was retro fabulous! We went and found the cleaning person and it turns out she was the daughter of the owners!
She was so sweet and showed us several rooms and told us she would clean the room we wanted first, call her dad so he would answer when we made the reservation and gave us recommendations on where to get food since we were stuck for the night. Her dad was super sweet and gracious as well and soon our room was booked and we were on our way.
It was exactly what we needed to make a bad situation fun. The room was spacious, had so many nice touches and a retro glamorous feel to it! The beds were memory foam and we sank into them, the Fiji water and retro fridge and microwave were great touches as well. If you are ever in that neck of the woods I highly recommend staying there! It is conveniently located to restaurants, the little town square and a grocery store.
You will not be disappointed with any of the rooms and the friendliness is unbeatable. I love supporting small businesses and they have taken a lump of coal and made it...
Read moreStayed 1218-12/21. It's in a small town. Old roadside motel that has been completely renovated. We stayed in the Pack-Man room. I picked this room because I was traveling with my two sons. Room was extremely clean when we arrived. Owners let me know that it may not have been stocked with enough linens etc for a 3 day stay but to let them know if I needed anything. They also let me know that a guest had seen a couple ants in the room and they sprayed the room prior to be arriving. My boys loved the room! The wall game, the neon lights etc. Owners left a map and park pass to use for Cloudland Canyon, which was amazing! Room has 1 window which actually opens, i thought that was nice. The heater in the wall is a bit tricky to work, I would recommend the owners leave a manual. I would also recommend some type of manual lock on the inside of the door for extra layer of protection and comfort. On Tuesday we woke up to our room filled with ants, we managed to kill almost all of them. I contacted the owners which arrived 20mins later. We spoke, they offered another room. I declined because we were leaving the next day and moving would have been an inconvenience. They sprayed again and cleaned the floor while we were gone that day. The refunded me one night stay for the issue. I would still stay again at their...
