You will see wilderness here! You will be out in the wilderness. Upon arriving a spotted a bald eagle 🦅 flying to what I think is it's nest northeast of the campground. This campground sits on the bank the Little Truckee River just north of the Boca Resivoir.
The campground doesn't have any canopy or shade but make up with location and views. You'll be able to spot lots of geese walking up from the Resivoir in the morning alongside the river. The river is cold but the water is fresh.
I was at the north end of the campsite. All campsites seem like they're a good distance from one another. I picked one with some shade but you'll find very little here. They have first come first serve sites so you should have some luck just stopping by and finding a site.
I give this campground 5 Stars cause of its wilderness aspect and location to water recreation like boating and fishing. The campground was pretty clean and the restrooms did the job.
This is bear country but I didn't spot any bears during my stay. In the evening, again, you might get lucky and have some deer stop by your site to look around.
One of the best campgrounds I've ever been to and at first I didn't really care for it because of the dirt and lack of shade. I'm so glad I stayed. Best view and wilderness feel I've...
Read more~♡ The location was pretty amazing but there was no shade over the picnic tables. Umbrellas in the summer heat are a MUST especially when the weather gets above 100°F!! We had a beautyFULL picnic but we weren't able to enjoy the lake because we couldn't stay long. The bathrooms also left me feeling a little icky as it was just a portapoddy in a building. No sink or mirror in the bathroom and no paper towels or hand dryer to dry my hands. There was a water spout that I used with some soap I brought from home so just be prepared for that. Also, the sites were very close together so there really wasn't much privacy at all. Overall the location is what captured my heart and I will always remember our picnic in this...
Read moreClean, well-kept primitive campground that allows dogs. The camp host was very nice when he came around in the evening and chatted with everyone for a few minutes. The vault toilets were clean and I even saw the camp host maintaining them in the morning. There are NO showers at this campground. There is a water spigot, but a sign on it advised that you boil the water before drinking it or using it for cooking. We only did a quick overnight trip, but overall it was very enjoyable. Also, some...
