August 25, 2022 Logger Campground on Stampede Reservoir is a beautiful setting. It has 251 campsites in 6 separate loops. The Campground Hosts are all the best. There are no services here, but it’s only 10 miles to Truckee RV right at Hirschdale and I-80. They have a full variety or basic needs and gas, propane and fresh sandwiches. Now, the problem here is it’s not visited by the local sheriff or the forestry service often enough. So be a COURTEOUS camper and park in the designated areas, leave your boat trailers at the boat ramp, before leaving put your campfire out with plenty of water, don’t throw Cigerette butts, bottles, cans and other trash in the fire pits. Pick up all your trash also before leaving. Remember, these Campground Hosts are unpaid volunteers and are very helpful so please don’t abuse them. I’ve talked to several of them, good people from all over the America and all walks of life. They have a passion for what they do. Enjoy your camping experience.

Reservoir is filled up with water again! Stayed at the site 199 this summer: very spacious with partial shades. You can get to the shore, bathroom, running water, and dump station within a few min walk. No shower. Bathroom was kept clean throughout three days stay. (Bring your own toilet paper in case they run out) You get to see bambi few feet away with a pretty good chance, but keep food in the container. They bit through my bags to get my bread and chips!

Campground has over 200 sites. Reservations are made at recreation.gov. Pit toilet , fire ring, grill, table & most of the sites are shaded. No showers. Some sites are closer and more congested however the outer sites have more space and privacy. Some sites will give you view and access to the reservoir . Bathroom does smell from the outside when the wind blows however it is clean . No bear box but it does have a big trash bin. Would I go back ? Yes.

Worst campground experience in a while. The grounds themselves were ok. Pretty typical for a managed campground. Sites were pretty close together and not big enough for multiple families/vehicles hence the first issue we had. We arrived later in the day to our reserved site only to find someone elses extra truck parked in our site. Luckily they had a tag that stated their site number so we were able to locate the owner and ask them to move it. The person was nice about it but said the camp host had told them to park there. we were slightly uncomfortable approaching another camp to ask and who wants to do that after a day of driving to arrive and keeping kids in the car longer until vehicles were all moved around. Put the other camper in a tight spot as they now had nowhere else to park their large truck too. Just poor management and bad decision on the hosts part. There was a tag on the site with our reservation so they knew we were coming that day. The other issue we had was several other large groups in spots next to us playing loud music and “partying”…well past the quiet time hours. The hosts should be doing their jobs and enforcing the rules. Its not my job to go tell others to quiet down. We looked for the camp hosts site but were unable to find it, it wasn’t clearly marked nor was it at the beginning of the campground as often found. Will not stay...

Definitely have mixed feelings about this campground. I really like the campground itself. Most of the sites seem pretty spacious. We stayed at site #80 and there was a good distance between us and the sites surrounding ours. Not far from the water at all. It was only my first trip to Logger but wow... this place is like a giant dog park. I can honestly say this was the first time I've been camping and woken up several times by dogs barking. Besides one other family across from us, every one of the sites in our general area (probably 10-12) ALL had dogs. Many were unsupervised roaming through our site. Several times people tied their dogs to a tree while they went down to the lake and they barked nonstop. I absolutely love dogs. And I really don't mind seeing them in nature. But it was quite chaotic and not exactly my idea of relaxation. I'll give it another shot sometime because I'd really like to fish, which I didn't get to this time. But I strongly hope for a better experience. If you're someone who enjoys your campground "quiet time" I definitely don't recommend this place if it's commonly like that. Oh... and don't stay at any of the sites closest to the bathrooms. The...
