Webber Lake campground was recently opened to the public by the Tahoe Donner Land Trust. The lake and surrounding area are beautiful. The campground itself in an old run down hunting and fishing camp that was rented out on a yearly basis for many years by the family that owned the property. The campground has semi defined sites with many trucks, OHVs, boats/boat trailers and campers parked all over the place. Some of the sites face a meadow, some have a filtered view of the lake. There are rented porta potties scattered throughout the campground and this season, the water is "non-potable." There is a boat dock and day use parking. The on site caretakers run a VERY LOUD generator all day and into the evening. There seem to be many cabins and private camping areas still used by long term users. You can walk to Lacey meadows from the campground. Several picnic tables are available along the shore and mid-way into Lacey meadows. We appreciate access to this beautiful spot and look forward to the land trust cleaning it up and eventually adding decent bathrooms and purchasing a solar panel for the caretakers so we don't have to listen to a generator run in this pristinely quiet area. Thank you to Barbara for keeping this beautiful spot open...
Read moreAfter checking the camp ground out about a month ago, I reserved a spot for two nights! Firstly- this place is so freaking beautiful!! The camp hosts are wonderful people and keep the camp ground well maintained and clean ( despite some “Karen” campers that left trash and all kinds of stuff in there spot when they left- so rude) they came and picked it up right away. The bathrooms are the cleanest out houses I’ve ever used and smelled like cleaning supplies instead of nasty stuff haha. It was great. Make sure you bring all the bug repellent you have for yourself and any pets you bring as there are a TON of bug but hey haha it’s the woods what did you expect! Lots of wild life! We heard owls late at night and there’s a family of geese that swim across the lake. It’s heavenly. We tried to fish off the shore since we didn’t bring a boat but no luck both days- the fish are tricky. Tried lures and all kinds of bate and got skunked. But if you have a boat you should have better luck! There’s a meadow behind the camp ground with wild purple flowers- some really great camera ops for sure. Overall- it’s great. For a family trip, or with some friends, it’s even safe enough that I would do a solo trip. Get out there and...
Read moreWe camped here in Late June but there was still a lot of snow around the CG. It made for lots of mosquitoes so it was not a pleasant place. We tried to hike to Lacey meadows to view the wildflowers, but it was flooded due to the run off. The Lake is quite beautiful and serene. The old wagon road hotel is still there from the late 1800's, but in need of renovation. We biked up to Lake of the Pines but it was snowed in so we hiked it. It could have been lake of the woods. It was ice but we would have to come back in August when the snow was gone.||||We drove the old Henness Pass road back to the CG. It was rocky and very rough. Had to move a few boulders along the way to pass. It was pretty but would not recommend in a car. We will go back-maybe...
