I was one of the first to stay at the Adobe in the Palms after it opened last year. My wife and I love the remote peace and quiet -- something that is increasingly short supply in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree.
The adobe construction is fascinating. Everywhere you look you see evidence of a true craftsman. The woodwork looks ancient, and all the hardware also looks to have been forged by hand. You get a sense that you're not only in another century, you're in a world that has come and gone completely.
The decor is vintage 1930s western, which fits in perfectly with the adobe architecture. We put some old Hank Williams records on the stereo and lit the fire in the fireplace and were just transported away. The kitchen and bath were also vintage 1930s, but of course clean and well equipped.
The Adobe in the Palms is a rustic cowboy experience and certainly not another mid-century modern knock-off. If you're tired of the all the hustle and bustle and all that designy 1950s fakery give the Adobe a look -- it's the real deal! There are 25 acres to wander, a barn to explore (they say Mr. Ed lodged there from time to time) and a HUGE fire pit for massive campfires. We're talking about putting together a big church group outing at the Adobe this winter. There's enough room at that campfire...
Read moreWe rented the "Adobe in the Palms" for my 30th birthday this past weekend and i was completely amazed at how great of an event space this was for a big occasion like that. Cary (the owner) has an eye for creating a magical environment in the middle of the desert.
The space is located on a desolate 25 acres and its equipped with everything you need. It has an outdoor drive in movie theater, Large fire pit, rooftop deck for stargazing, multiple bbq's for cooking, hand picked furniture and decorations throughout the property (my favorite being the vinyl players). There are two bedrooms with beds as well as 3 large couches people can sleep on. The space also provides you with 3 blow up mattresses and 2 cots. We had some friends sleep in their tent outside because they liked camping which worked out great.
This is a wonderful getaway for a large group of people looking to have an off grid feel with modern day amenities. The Adobe in the Palms takes you back in time in a historic building which was a film location for the show "Mr Ed the talking horse". Cary was an amazing host and I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a weekend desert getaway. Good for both Large and...
Read moreWe had a fabulous time at the Adobe in the Palms. It was so quiet and peaceful, and precisely what we needed to unwind from the never-ending stress of the city. The stars were absolutely amazing. Cary was a very gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed for a great time. It sits on 25 acres, so you really get a sense of solitude. The Adobe was built in 1937, so if you're looking for luxurious accommodations and a bathroom in every room, this is probably not for you. Try the Marriott. But for those who seek, as I do, a place with character and history, the Adobe might be for you. Sitting out by the fire, gazing at the stars, and listening to the distant barks and yips of a pack of coyotes, you remember why you're alive. I'll...
