We stayed in the Yucca House for three nights with our maltipoo and cattle dog. It is the best place for doggies. We brought blankets from home and covered the day couch and comfy king bed with them and felt really relaxed as everything is dog friendly. The property's wonderful with lot's of quiet and space. The house is bright, cheerful - nicely done. Our dogs loved zooming about, then cooling off on the beautifully tiled floor inside. Also, outside the fenced Yucca House property is vast empty desert space that made for wonderful morning and evening walks with the pups. They were in doggie heaven, so happy and free. They had as great a time as we did. Our main purpose was to get away from the city for the 4th as our cattle dog is so scared of the booms. It was totally quiet and peaceful. One night my cattle doggie wanted to go out around 3am - we laid out on the deck and watched the stars together until the sun rose. It was incredible. The moon had fallen off by then - so the night was black - the sky was filled with stars, the milky way - galaxies galore. I know it sounds crazy, but my dog was as amazed as I was. It really was a reset - to behold such night wonder - watch morning unfurl beholding the incredible beauty the desert holds.
This is a back-to-basics experience. You are really off the grid - I felt the difference not being barraged by emf's, phone's, internet. The air is clean and the winds that come and go are musical, reviving - so energetic. The water on the property is wonderful - the shower water was so nice - just feels clean in a way I have never experienced before. It was great having the private soaking pool too. We would soak at night in the hot thermal water and over night the water would cool - actually get cold over night - and created a cool dip that surprisingly stayed cool all day!
The kitchen worked great for us - nice big fridge, stove worked great - there were dishes, pans, utensils, cups, coffee maker(s) - it was very functional. Also provided, was a jar of delicious ground coffee, raw Turbinado sugar (my favorite), pink sea salt, pepper, and a carafe of cooled water - waiting in the fridge - which was appreciated.
The bed is very large - a king and super comfy. They ac works great we were very comfortable.
One small dog tip - Our maltipoo wondered off the property a few times and gave us a scare. It's only because's he's very little and fit under the fence in spots and through the electric gate where it meets the fence (there is a small gap for the motor). This would not be a problem for a regular to big size dog - once we figured this out we were able to easily keep him in sight or leash him with us when we were lounging.
My husband never left the property, but I did a couple of times to go swimming! Luckie Park is about 14 minutes away and has a VERY NICE public pool that is open 7 days a week. The lap swimming was 10:15 - 11:15 daily - I really enjoyed that.
Other than the pool visit - we stayed at the property having packed our food for our stay. We had a wonderful quiet, awe-filled experience.
Thank you...
Read moreI feel so lucky to have found Wonder Valley Hot Springs! I was searching for places to stay that had hot springs near Amboy Crater and the evaporation salt ponds and found Wonder Valley Hot Springs!
My husband and I hiked into the Amboy Crater and had a spiritual experience. After we checked into Wonder Valley Hot Springs, Doug told me that the mineral water tubs were aligned with Amboy Crater, which was obviously a really special coincidence.
We stayed at the Tamarisk House, which has three pristine bedrooms and a sanctuary living room for meditation, group healing work, yoga, etc. The kitchen is as big as a restaurant kitchen and equipped like one, too, and has sitting space for like 50 people, so has the potential of hosting large groups for meals. Oddly, my husband and I were the only guests. It felt interesting to be such a small party with such amenities, but it was the only house available, as the smaller houses were reserved, but I intend to book Tamarisk House again and bring more people next time.
There are many doors in the house that each lead to incredible views. I love how each bedroom has its own door that leads to the private hot tubs!
We only had one precious night there, but did a sunset soak and a sunrise soak. The water felt incredible! My skin and hair were so, so soft, no need for oil after soaking, even in the dry desert climate. We only used two of the four private tubs available at the house, the outdoor granite tub for soaking, and the white bathtub as a cold plunge. We left water in the white tub overnight and came out at 7 AM for a morning soak to discover it at like 45 degrees! It was ideal for detoxification! When you go from the hot to the cold and back to the hot, your body tingles from head to toe. Soak up that feeling for as long as you can. It's healing.
My husband and I took a walk around the perimeter of the property today before checking out, which was about a 15 minute walk.Tamarisk House is surrounded by a fence and gate, so feels really safe, and has a ton of open space around it with sweet mesquite plants growing.
Doug was an awesome host and we're looking forward to...
Read moreI visited the one of the hot springs here with my family this Friday. There was a really bad flash flood. The electricity went out from 8pm. There was also water leaking from the roof of the bathroom. It was really hot in Joshua tree on August and we couldn't turn the AC on. We couldn't do anything on Friday night. Even lantern given from their staff didn't have a battery. We made a decision to leave at midnight due to no electric power, but we had an another issue which was that we couldn't get out of the gate. The gate was working through electricity and there was a power outage. We called multiple times to figure out the issue, but their attitude wasn't welcoming and was portraying that they didn't want to be bothered in the middle of the night. They didn't really understand why we wanted to leave in a rush. If you want to use this hot springs, don't forget your own lantern or batteries for emergency.
Today is Aug14,2022. I got a call from this Wonder Valley hot springs at 8:58am. They complained the 1 star review I gave is unfair. No matter what nobody wants to be bothered Sunday morning.
In addition,if you understand the weather well on your area, you had better prepare extra lantern and batteries. If we ask you another lantern or batteris at that night, it must take another half of hour. For the nonoperating gate without electric power,I suggest your staff or team members should make gate for guests to be controlled manually or offer alternative way any time if you can show up after 30min.You don't still understand what is wrong.Your reaction was very unprofessional and your comment like "This is a middle of night!!" hurt and rush us from the area which offered sleepless, breathless, and dark night. Thanks for unforgettable experience at...
