Steeple Furniture
Bad. I could stop there and be done, but I better say why they are bad.
A couple of weeks ago me and my daughter went here to look for a full sized mattress. After a pleasant encounter with the salesperson, she checked out the offerings and chose one in the âBargain Basementâ.
I went to the desk and paid $389.00 (plus 3% for using my debit card?!) for the mattress. I was told that they would have to order it and when it came in they would deliver it within a few days. I didnât try to get a reduction on the price, I paid the full price.
The mattress came in within the time they said and then the salesperson called and left a message. Included was the fact that there would be a $49.00 delivery fee since the item was less than $399.00. So I called them back and talked to Mark. He said that the fee stood. I asked for a reduction in price if I had to pick it up and Mark said no. I then asked to cancel the sale and Mark said that he would call the owner and get back to me before 8:00 that night. I assured Mark that he didnât have to get back to me that night, since it was 6:30 at that point. I just needed him to connect with me when he had the information.
Saturday at 2:30 pm I went to the Store. I met Mark. He told me that he got the authorization to cancel the sale. I asked him why he didnât contact me by this point. He said that they were busy. (I thought to myself that they werenât too busy when the took my money). I told him I was taking it with me since I was there.
Then Mark brings the sales receipt to me to sign that I picked it up. I told him the busy excuse was not valid. Then he starts to blame me for not understanding how demanding it is on the employees with all of the customers they are dealing with.
As I waited for Mark to confirm with me that the Loading staff was ready to to get me loaded, Dixie chimed in. Now according to her âSpecial Tagâ on her shirt, she is the current Employee of the Month. What does the EOM do to help my buying experience? She tells me to look out in the showroom and see how busy it is.
When I pulled into the store, I was the fourth car in the parking lot. Miss EOM was happily taking money from some nice couple at the counter. So when I did the quick math in my head, that means that they had 2 customers in the store. Unless there was a tour bus that had dropped off a bunch of people, that is not busy.
At this point I told her and Mark to stop blaming me. I didnât do anything wrong. I also told them that they need to make it easy for customers to do business with them.
I went out and the dude who loaded me up did it in record time. He deserves to be praised, the others are terrible.
Bottom line for me is go someplace else. I had a much better experience at Miller Home and Ashley furniture when we looked at mattresses. I only regret not buying from them. But I will buy my furniture someplace else in the future because as I told Mark and Dixie, this was the last thing that I will buy from them. And Iâll make sure I tell people about my experience.
They say âAt Steeple Furniture, Weâre Big!â I...
Read moreWe really like the family and the people at Steeple Furniture. In the past we always dealt with Sahlaneyâs in Houtzdale. I installed flooring for them, but after Jack passed away they closed. We had a recommendation for Steeple. We sold our house about 4 years ago and bought new living room furniture from them. They treated us well so when I wanted to replace a recliner that I had for 8 years I went back. I looked at a leather Flexsteel in St College on Sunday because I was in the area, and I really liked it. The salesman said I could take a color sample home to show my wife but the store manager said it had to be back first thing the Monday morning. I went to Steeple on Monday and they had a LaZboy chair I loved even more, but not the color we were looking for. They even opened a similar model in a gray color and brought it in from the warehouse but the back was slightly lower so I asked to see what was avilable on this model. The salesperson, Laura, and the owner instantly brought out color samples. There were 2 that I wanted to show my wife. I took them home (with a refundable deposit), my wife picked a color. On Tuesday I returned the samples, instantly got my deposit back for the samples and ordered the chair. It was a non-stock leather for that chair. They told me it would take 10 weeks. I got a call yesterday and they delivered it today, 10 weeks and 2 days later. Cody and Dean were the delivery drivers. Both very professional and took great care in bringing in my beautiful new recliner. Laura and the owner (I canât remember her name) are both warm and friendly. I also talked to her husband and daughter, the young lady in the commercials, and they are also very warm and friendly.
I read several reviews that mentioned they are expensive. I was a buyer for over 25 years so I read reviews and shop things. Generally you get what you pay for. I checked out this chair othrr places and for a quality piece of furniture like this, tgey are quite competitive. My thanks to the wonderful...
Read moreWe were extremely satisfied with the buying experience. Dixie was so helpful and went above and beyond to find us exactly what we were looking for. In fact, I recommended her to everyone right after our purchase. Huge selection, quick, and easy buying experience. Well worth the drive.
Now comes the disappointing part... Purchased a reclining couch and love seat from Steeples in November, and had it delivered to our new house in February. Since it was delivered the padding in the back rests has slowly been getting more and more flat. Now, some are completely flat and when you sit down you can feel the bars underneath. The underneath of the footrests has also burst completely open as it was only stapled together will standard staples. Iâve been finding staples all over my living room as they continue to fall out. Mark took few weeks to get back to us and only offered a repair. Itâs understandable that Steeples does not make these couches, but they sell them, and should stand behind them. A brand new couch should not fall apart in only a few months and a repair is not the answer when you spend this kind of money. We always purchased Big Lots couches but decided to get a âhigher end oneâ assuming it would be worth the money, and of course wanted to support local. Needless to say, the cheap ones at Big Lots are much better quality and actually last. Thatâs where weâll be heading today to purchase...
