My son and his wife had their wedding here. It was perfect. Separate cabins for different family groups. Drop dead gorgeous views, especially in October when the fall colors are showing. The cabins were gorgeous. We stayed in a wheelchair-accessible cabin. There was a bedroom on the ground floor straight across from a bathroom. They both had wider door frames and furniture placement for a wheelchair to move about easily. The kitchen, dining area, and living room area are accessible also. The furniture and beds were comfortable and clean. There were even a few small blankets for when you want to sit out on the porch and watch the sunset or on the couch watching TV. They had Wi-Fi enough for a lot of people to satisfactorily be on without it lagging. The TVs had basic cable. It was tastefully decorated in typical log cabin style but had a very homey feel to it. There were firepit areas with Adirondack chairs out in front of the cabins. The place was dog-friendly. We saw so many deer there munching away on acorns. They were so used to people that they ate off my son's hand. It was unbelievable! And we saw some kind of white reindeer-looking deer as well. My only complaint is that we had trouble with the water. It stopped working several times. And when you're getting ready for a wedding and already fighting for bathroom/shower time with the 11 people sharing the cabin, no water is a huge deal. As the mom, I always get everyone ready before I get ready. Running out of water while I was finally getting myself ready was very frustrating and had me in tears, scared I was going to be late because I had to make do with a few things getting ready. Then after the reception and for the whole night and next morning we were without water. That wasn't making it easy on anyone. We had to pack up and leave with the wedding hair and make-up from the night before and travel down to one of the other cabins for a flushing toilet, until they ran out of water too. But the owners immediately got on top of the issue and were bringing in giant water containers on trucks to refill the water tanks. No city water lines on the top of a mountain! They were on top of everything the whole stay. They had these outside heaters and fireplaces. And a bar area that serves as the venue. They needed propane. One call to say we might need more propane and they were there in a flash to bring some. I would definitely take my family back there. I...
Read moreIn the days deep with COVID fears, my fiance and I were trying to find a venue in the middle of nowhere with a chill mountain vibe that shows off the beautiful fall colors. We wanted to be surrounded by nature, to not have to figure out guest travel logistics from wedding venue to reception venue, and particularly not have a strict cut off at 11 pm or midnight like some venues do (we like to dance & keep the party going). I happened to find Grandview while looking on google maps; My fiance and I are rockclimbers and are very familiar with West Virginia/Fayetteville, so looking all the way out here wasn't so out of the question. It was big enough to accommodate 30-60 guests, and after checking with them, we were ecstatic to learn that Shellie and John (the owners) allowed camping on the property, which was a game changer. Communicating with Shellie over the year was a breeze. We had the whole mountain to ourselves for 3 nights, the weather remained gorgeous (which, they can't control, but it helped!), and our guests raved about the views! Our caterer made most of our food at the venue using the outdoor grill and one of the cabin's kitchens which was very convenient for him since he came from Blacksburg, VA. Also, I had planned a rehearsal day morning Runaway Bride 5k with my bridal party that went down their gravel drive and back up...which was a challenge, but allowed us to have some fun and take a break from thinking about wedding stuff for an hour. Other guests arrived early and before the wedding went on hikes nearby and explored climbing areas nearby as well. I could go on and on and on, but I think you get it. Grandview is awesome! From the views, the atmosphere, the spacious cabins, the quiet & solitude, the accessibility, and the hosts. I 100% recommend you check them out if you're looking for a venue, or just want some time...
Read moreThis secluded, peaceful cabin was absolutely a gem of a find for us. This very spacious, beautifully equipped cabin was absolutely perfect for our family of 6! It’s just like it’s listed plus more. . . We could have stayed at the cabin the whole time just enjoy the view! WOW! We loved the easy check-in and check-out and the welcome letter sent right before we left included a lot of information that was helpful to prepare for the trip! The gas grill made for quick, inexpensive dinners at the cabin and the spacious kitchen allowed us to sleep-in and eat our own homemade breakfasts. The kitchen has a coffee maker and a Keurig coffee maker so you can take your perfect cup of coffee out on the deck to enjoy the fog lifting off the mountains. The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of extra linens/towels. (Including extra toilet paper!) We loved the outdoor fireplace and used it several nights. The wood stack was unlimited! The house was clean and tidy, the grounds were well taken care of: the whole property was just absolutely beautiful! The nearby gas station/store has some basic items and delicious pizzas but the grocery store 30 minutes away had everything needed for our stay. There were also lots of things to see nearby. We really enjoying this property and we took advantage of several hikes. We will definitely tell our family and friends and will re-book if we ever are in the neighborhood again. Thanks John & Shellie! We...
