Myself and a co-worker/friend were in the area working. I picked the Inn because the rooms are larger than standard rooms. At first I was happy to see the lobby was nice & clean. The lady at the front desk was pleasant & friendly. When we went to our room I noticed how run down the Inn was & that it was in serious need of attention & remodeling. The bathroom had a door however, toilet was in separate room but there wasn't a door on it or on the closet in the bathroom. The lights on each side of the mirror looked like they had been slapped on the wall & didn't hang at same height. Bathroom sink & bathtub were clean but tub was so slick I almost fell. Bathroom floor was old & dated light green tile & what was at 1 time white grout wasn't white any more. It looked very dirty. Our room was pretty clean but out dated. The Inn needs a major remodel & it could be beautiful like I believe it once was. The cleaning ladies were really nice & did their best, but when things are that old there's only so much they can do. I called front desk to request extra chair so both of us could work at the huge desk. The girl at the front desk wasn't the same women that checked us in. It was obvious she wasn't going to help us get another chair. She told us the Inn was full that night & we couldn't use one from a another room. Looking out over parking lot later it was obvious that wasn't the truth. The mini fridge had tiny freezer that didn't have door on freezer area because there was apprx., 2 inches of ice around the entire side of freezer. It wouldn't allow my snickers ice cream bars to stay frozen. Next morning at breakfast the same girl that didn't want to get us a chair was making breakfast. I asked her if it's ok to put my 2 tiny snickers ice cream bars in the HUGE freezer off of vending area. She said there wasn't enough room in there. Later that day I walked in there myself opened the freezer & it was only about 50% full. Again, she thought not being honest was the way to solve the issue. Breakfast was eggs & bacon, it wasn't good. The bread looked like it had been smashed but it was still served. We didn't eat breakfast there again. Also, the coffee was like warm water without taste. We left a day early because both of us had enough. I got home & realized my Harley belt isn't in my things. I thought I left it in the room on a hanger. I called the Inn & again I got the same girl that doesn't know how to deal with issues or understand the meaning of customer service. I told her about my belt. She said she would check the lost & found. I thought that meant there was a lost and found box, but she never got off the phone. She told me it wasn't in the lost & found. I said if it's not here and last place I had it was there then..? She said well it's not marked on the lost & found ticket. I asked her if some one could go up & make sure it wasn't overlooked & if its still in the closet (that didn't have any doors either). She tried to get out of checking for me by telling me she didn't know if some one was in that room. I explained to her I know it's my fault if I left it, but its an expensive belt could she please check for me. She place me on hold & came back on about 5 minutes later. She said she went up herself & checked & it wasn't there. I have my doubts if she did go & check or if she just put me on hold to make me think she went up and checked. The Inn needs some serious ATTENTION!! Also teaching the girls how to treat customers and how to resolve issues would be a great idea. I won't stay again & recommend people find another place to stay. It's a shame because you can tell at one time the Inn was beautiful!! But it has not been taken care of or updated like it should of been. It wasn't a...
Read moreI give this hotel 3½ stars. Perhaps it deserves a better rating, but there were too many issues for me. The issues were relatively small issues, but they added up. It points to a lack of attention to detail and, ultimately, some level of mismanagement, in my view.
The rooms are spacious and appear, at first glance, to be clean. My white socks soon turned black on the bottom, though. The floors are likely dirtier than they look. The sheets did not fit the bed and kept pulling off the corners. There didn't appear to be a mattress mat beneath the sheets. Ewww!. The TV is the size of a shoe box. If you're vision isn't perfect, you will need to sit 3 feet from the screen to watch a show. There was considerable dust on the bathroom lighting glass. Poor housekeeping. Due to the dark blue color of the bathroom sinks, you can't tell if the sink is clean, or not. There were black ants on one of the night tables. This suggests neglect on pest control. The bed's headboard was fabric. How do you clean a fabric headboard? These should be replaced, or eliminated, in my view. On of back doors to the hotel opened without the use of a key card. This is a security risk to every guest who stays there. The breakfast offering was the typical cheap hotel junk. You might survive it. If you don't know the difference between real food and garbage, this may not be an issue for you. The toilet had caulking around the bottom. The caulking was black with dirt or mold... or something. Geeezzus... black stuff on white caulking is inexcusable. It just makes the hotel (and the bathroom) look bad.
Those who don't know better might think it's ok to caulk the base of a toilet to the floor. It's not. If the toilet is properly installed, no caulking is required. If not properly installed, then it should be properly re-installed. The wax ring is what keeps the toilet drain from leaking, and it is easy to replace. If there is a leak, water will run from under the toilet to let you know there's a leak. If you completely seal the bottom of the toilet with caulking, the hotel may never know there is a leak. This will only cause much bigger and more expensive troubles down the road. There's nothing wrong with spot caulking, however, to keep the toilet from twisting on the floor when mega-sized butts sit on it awkwardly. When there is a leak, it should be fixed. Not hidden.
To end on a positive note, check-in was quick and the staff is friendly. It's a pretty nice looking little property, and the rooms are inexpensive. A little more care would go a long way to improve the gust experience at The Inn at Mountain View.
I have stayed at the Inn 3 years in a row. Overall, I've been comfortable with the stay. This review is an expression of what I experienced and how I view it. Your experience may be different, for...
Read moreWe decided to give this hotel a second try after they screwed us in January, 2020, by telling us they had no record of a reservation made the previous November. They are pet friendly and near family, which is why we gave them a 2nd chance. We arrived Friday night, January 20th, around 8:00 pm, and our first glitch was the light in the entrance to the room was one of those LED lights that didn’t light up at all, even after several minutes. We had to get a regular light bulb from the front desk and move furniture to screw it in. The pet friendly rooms are on the 3rd floor, and there is a large fenced in area to take the dogs outside to, to do their business. Unfortunately, there is NO LIGHTING at night and I stepped in other dog’s poop on both shoes. I had to take my shoes to the lobby and ask for a utility sink and brush to use to clean them off. The manager on duty directed me to the first floor Ladies Room and gave me a toilet brush; ycch! Saturday night I opted to walk our dogs out to the grass by the parking lot since there were lights in that area. Unfortunately, it wasn’t lit well enough because I again stepped in dog poop and had to clean my shoes in the same bathroom, which hadn’t been cleaned since I was there on Friday night! Also, litter dotted the parking lot area and made it very unsightly…||The room itself had a comfortable king size bed, and had some signs of being renovated: there was vinyl plank flooring and the bathroom looked like it had been re-done. Unfortunately, the shower water pressure was horrible and the towels were small and of low quality. We were supplied one hand towel, two washcloths, two bath towels, and one bath mat. The shower curtain barely touched the top of the bathtub. On Saturday morning I asked for an extra bath towel from Housekeeping. They took our hand towel and only gave us two clean bath towels, two clean washcloths, and one bath mat! No extra bath towel. The refrigerator worked, but there was a noticeable gap on the door, so there was frosting all over the shelving. The room came with Keurig, and the coffee pods produced delicious coffee.||Breakfast was pretty horrible. The eggs had to have been re-constituted and the super salty bacon was paper thin. They did offer small juuices, yogurts, cereals, bread and english muffins to toast (with an excellent toaster).||Would we stay there again? If it was the only choice that was pet friendly and near...
