We were a group of campers mixed with tents, RV’s and Trailers. Lori, the manager, set us up in a section together so we were not scattered about the Kamp. We felt so welcome with signs and flags on our sites to greet us. The grounds were clean and very well maintained. Each site had electric and water. John, came around and emptied the holding tanks for us so we didn’t have to move the whole trailer. He was kind and available for any of our needs. Nena, at the front desk of the little gift shop, was delightful to chat with and very helpful with my questions about how the place worked. There were some lovely Alaskan and Valdez gifts and a nicely stocked parts and necessities section. The grounds are set up around a large open field that has a playground, gathering area and a fenced in doggie play yard. It was very convenient for the kids to be playing together while we held our group discussions. I wish I would have come here when my kids were small, it was so nice to see all the kids playing in the centralized area in eyesight but not underfoot. The dog play yard was nice for some off leash time. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and set up more like a home bathroom would be. I didn’t have to wait in line once to get into a shower. The water never went cold. It had good pressure. The rooms were warm and not a shock to the backside when sitting down. We normally stay in more remote camp areas where you can’t see your neighbor. This was a really great first group camping experience for my family. We will come back with the...
Read moreThe KoA Valdez is quiet, beautiful, peaceful, and spacious. This is not a cramped gravel parking lot like the other campgrounds in Valdez. This is an actual beautiful campground. We are so glad we stayed at the KoA Valdez. The entire campground is clean to include the bahtroom and laundry facilities. It is just a short drive into town, about 7-10 minutes. Don’t let the drive scare you away. The KoA actually feels like a retreat. Relaxing and peaceful. Full hooks available.Highly recommend site #3 if available.
The owners, Mr. Tim and Mrs. LaVerne, along with their staff are simply fantastic. They make you feel like family and work hard to ensure your stay turns into a lasting memory. We stayed there for 6 days over the 4th of July and our time at the KoA actually was the highlight of our time in Valdez. We are so glad we stayed here and not in town.Mr. Tim and Mrs. LaVerne were so friendly to our three little girls and let them dig holes, make mud pits, and play on large gravel piles within the campground. Very nice paved bike path right outside the campground.
Mr. Tim and Mrs. Laverne are huge military friendly hosts. KoA Valdez was one of our favorite campgrounds we have stayed at in two years of camping in Alaska....
Read moreWe are VIP members and always stay at KOAs. We have stayed at all of the KOAs in Alaska but we had to cancel our trip to this location since they do not have potable water. They didn't tell anyone and people don't know about it until they check in. We happened to read about it online and called them. The state has indicated that their water is not potable and that it must be boiled in order to use it. They consider their water potable since you have to boil it. That is not potable water. Their KOA page doesn't mention it and they never mention it on their Facebook page or in the email confirming the reservation. Because my husband is in remission from cancer, we can't risk having their water introduced into our RV tanks. They offered to cancel our reservation and then when I checked my cancelation notice, they didn't refund our deposit. We canceled due to their lack of communicating this issue, that they have known about all summer apparently. Had we been advised of this in a timely manner, we would have canceled a long time ago. I guess this will be one KOA that we never visit since they are not truthful in providing information that is necessary. Beware if...
