The bison tour at Golden Prairie Bison was an unexpected treat on our trip to Nebraska. Taking the tour was not part of our original plans for our stay in Valentine, but we are SO glad that we took the opportunity. Carl and Vicki were such knowledgeable and friendly guides and being able to get so close to the bison was an experience we won’t ever forget. We have observed bison before, but always from a distance and without any real knowledge of their behavior. We learned so much and gained a greater respect for these animals of the Plains and for their habitat from the tour. Read moreThe ranch tour with Carl and Vicki is something my wife and I will never forget. This is not a tour of a cattle or dude ranch that happens to have bison. This is two people who love the land the land and the animals that belong on it. Carl and Vicki explain all about the Great Plains and how the landscape looked in its native setting. You’re then amongst their heard as they explain all about how the animals live on the landscape. Being there in may had the added bonus of calves running around with their mammas.

Carl and Vicki were so friendly and nice, the history Carl gave about the bison and prairie was wonderful and very informative. We didn’t know what to expect so we were thrilled when we found out we got to feed the bison food.. it was an amazing experience!! We were able to take tons of photos and videos, it was just an incredible view of the prairie.
