If you go anywhere near blackjack or table games be prepared and watch closely. Some dealers know what their doing here but I've seen many mistakes. Here is a breakdown of a recent bad experience: On a blackjack table I was playing on they screwed the over the other player at my table. I had not played the previous hand and when my bet was out for the next hand the dealer completely missed it and dealt the hand without me in while my bet was just sitting there in plain sight. Before any actual action occurred and told them hey my bet is out and you didn't even deal my cards. Normal gaming policy would allow the players to just push the hand as a misdeal if they want. The player had a 10 (game is double down madness so you start with just 1 card.) After already messing up by not dealing me cards, as the floor was called the dealer messed up AGAIN by showing his hole card revealing he has a 18. He tells the floor I "jumped" in the hand to make his mistake not seem as bad. I placed a normal bet well before the deal and player NEVER announce they are placing a bet, you just place it. To say I "jumped in" to make it sound like I did something out of the ordinary to make his mistake not look is bad is already bad form vs just admitting he made a mistake. THEN on top of that making ANOTHER mistake by flipping his hole card for NO reason, THEN on top of THAT the floor KILLS the hand when the player in the hand has a 10 and knows the dealer has 18, without giving the option of playing it out which is STANDARD is ridiculous. I asked why doesn't he get the option to play his 10 if he wants and the floor just says the hole card was already exposed which is their fault at no fault of the player. That's the DEALER's mistake. If it was large money it would be worth fighting but I didn't feel like arguing. In the end the dealer and floor made 3 mistakes back to back TO BACK with zero apology THEN talks to me saying I "jumped" in the hand as if by placing a normal bet is somehow my error. LOL players NEVER announce placing a bet, you just place the bet. Horrible service and handling of situation that should be easy to resolve, and completely violating gaming procedure. The dealer was already winning like 80% of the hands when this happens and to to throw salt on the wound and kill a hand when a player should get to play it out with the advantage due to DEALER"S mistake is blatantly violating gaming policy and just crappy service all around. I've also had good experience (or at least "not bad" is probably more accurate) with dealers and floors here abut enough bad experience here to know there's probably going to be a mistake at some point I'll have to catch and correct myself and will probably need to argue to make right because plenty of times this place doesn't really seem to care about gaming rules, and if you don't know the rules is seems apparent they more than happy to take more advantage of you than they already have. Not to mention most of the BJ only pays 6:5 with a push 22.
The location is clean, non-smoking table games rooms are nice enough, the pool is very nice but if you plan to put any chips on the table be prepared to have your patience tested depending on the dealer you get. It's a little pathetic when they already have house edge basically guaranteeing they will make money on you then while a player is already losing most hands they don't even follow basic procedure when THEY made a mistake that should allow the player to get slight advantage on god forbid ONE SINGLE HAND. Just leaves an even worse bad taste in your mouth. I promise if a player makes a mistake like betting a higher value chip than they meant to they would NEVER kill a hand, so at least be fair when a dealer messes up! I don't normally write long reviews but the poor service...
Read moreAt registration my mom and I were greeted by Brittany. She conducted herself in a very professional manner, and handled the check-in process in a very nice and friendly way.
Just off the main entrance lobby are several stores. Bazaar is a boutique with clothing and accessories, on the other side you have Emporium which is your one stop shop for all your basic needs.
Upon entering the room I noticed through the window the scenic view. The room has all the things you would expect. A TV, desk, King size bed, and this room even had a refrigerator. In the bathroom you have a walk-in shower, sink, and of course there is a toilet.
There are a lot of dining options around and yet not much that is interesting. The Corner Counter on the other hand, I did find interesting. They had a nice selection of craveable food items, and the people I saw working there seemed enthused about their work. We went to the Cafe, they usually have good food. Our server was a very nice young woman who took our order without a problem. The food could have been great, but missed the mark. It ended up being average. There are several fast food options. The chicken place looked interesting, but seemed to be closed. The other 2 places are just brand names you would see around your neighborhood, that are not very interesting when on a leisure trip. The other more expensive places seem to be geared towards high rollers, because unless you're getting comped, it's just not worth it.
White water is COOL when you're rafting. But, when milky white water comes out of the bathroom faucet in your room, that's GROSS. It's probably dissolved minerals in the water, and it's safe to drink. However, who wants to drink milky white water when staying in a hotel. At check-in, at minimum I should have been informed of the white water issue. But, I would have offered bottled water for drinking. Providing a room with bottled water only has a cost of a few cents, that's a way smarter move. And, I shouldn't have to ask for it.
Also, I was sent a text informing me of their new sanitation plan, which is housekeeping will ONLY clean your room after you check out. They will however provide you with extra linens, towels, or amenities, but you have TO ASK FOR THEM. That's CRAZY! Nowadays you have to request everything, even if it's included in the price of your stay. RIDICULOUS! Companies nowadays expect their customers to do all the heavy lifting while they reap all the benefits. It started with self-checkout, now I guess they want you to tidy up your room yourself during your stay. You are offering a service, PROVIDE IT, or go out of business. That was enough for me to cut my stay short. I came with my mom for her birthday. I left very...
Read moreI’ve had a very unpleasant experience with the Harrah’s facility. My experience has been with Hell’s Kitchen restaurant, however it has been next to impossible to speak to anyone directly from Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve only been able to communicate with the staff members through Harrah’s front desk & upper management. I have spoken to about 4-5 people regarding the same issue. We paid for a dinner in cash, our room was then charged for part of the dinner, however we were never informed. We only found out after checking our online banking. I’ve brought the issue up to the front desk at checkout. We were informed that this happens often, people at dinner will put the incorrect room number and that room will be charged for a dinner they never received. I personally believe more precaution should be taken regarding payments at the restaurant.
The information on our bill also did not make sense. We provided the server with $400. We did not receive the change. Which we did not think anything of it, because it was less than $10. We just added that to the tip amount we would give them. We then requested to have a $50 bill to be broken. On the check it displays change was provided $26.77. I brought this up to management over the phone and was not given information why this was stated on the check and not $50.
I’ve been told the amount of money provided is difficult to see on camera. I’ve had such a frustrating time getting this straightened out. I’ve had to repeat myself numerous times. We paid the correct amount. Our server brought back change after the entire bill was paid for. We are already paying a large amount for a room, expensive overpriced food all over the hotel, and what was supposed to be a celebration dinner at one of the “best restaurants ” in San Diego. Then they attempt claims we did not pay. I am repulsed by Harrah’s and how they conduct themselves. Be extremely cautious if you decide to go here. Don’t pay in cash anywhere, odds are they will claim you didn’t pay and charge you twice. I can’t help but think about all the people they have charged excessively who did not catch it. I’ve been told they reversed the charge, then I get a call saying they don’t see the full amount in the hard to see cameras. I’ve asked to view the footage myself and they have refused. The charge is still currently there.
I’m disappointed & hope staff can be trained further on handling currency. Provide your customers with the proper change, notate the correct amounts on the check, and stop taking advantage of people.
Not that it make a different in their revenue, but we will not be returning to Harrah’s. We will be sharing our story with others in hopes to deter them from having the same...
